Both of my daughters lived in a building in Brooklyn managed by Century. They had a great experience living there and found this management company attentive. The building was kept clean and maintained well. Upon moving out there was an issue with their security deposit check being stolen when FEDEX left if on top of their mailbox. This issue was not handled well until Mr. Cyrus Rodriguez took over the matter. He was extremely professional. He kept us in the loop as he investigated the case and was very transparent in letting us know all the steps that had to be completed in order to resolve the matter. After 90 days, he verified that the check was indeed stolen and arranged to have my daughter's security deposit returned. Mr. Rodriguez is a young man that was a pleasure to deal with. I recently purchased a unit in a property managed by Century Management and it would be remiss of me not to share with others my true and personal experience. Going into this process, I had heard horror stories from friends and colleagues about transactions like this and they all seemed to point down to two potential pain areas - the Management Company and the Board. I was apprehensive, but hopeful, so I braced myself. Having gone through this now, I don't know if they were extremely unlucky or I was just supremely lucky, because my experience is a total contrast to what they shared of theirs. The Century Management employee that basically managed this transaction was Jennifer Leger. I have never met her, seen her nor spoken to her on the phone; yet, in the several months that it took to close this transaction, Jennifer became the friend and family that everyone needs in their life - certainly, the one I needed to guide me through this process. She was incredibly diligent, consistently meticulous and eagerly responsive. In fact, I got so used to her timeliness that once when I didn't hear back from her within the hour, I thought she was out of the office for the day. Turns out she was busy managing some other closings and when she did respond to me (in what would still be remarkable response time in any business interaction), she was apologetic. That blew my mind! Unlike my friends and colleagues, my pain point was with a particularly unethical seller's broker/'attorney' (I know Stefani would not approve of me being this blunt about the party, but it is my truth). My Board was very kind and welcoming, meeting with me in a remarkably short period of time and promptly advising of their decision. Stefani, as the Managing Agent, was beyond exceptional, making sure I stayed on track and insisting I focused on the end goal. Honestly, I wanted to give up and walk away from the sale a number of times because of the antics of the offending party, but the constant reassurance and guidance by Stefani kept me going in what I can aptly define as one of the most turbulent experiences of my life. So, I want to share this with the world because as humans, we generally tend to be more motivated when we're wronged than when we're helped. For me, I felt like I was on this boat that had a rudder I couldn't reach. I'm so thankful that a Stefani Leger came on the scene to steer that boat to a safe landing for me. Today, I'm a home owner and this is in no small part due to the kindness, professionalism and guidance of Ms. Leger. How she managed to stay professional, unfettered and focused even when she was clearly being disrespected, is the stuff legends are made of. For the extreme misfortune of having to deal with an unscrupulous seller's representative, life blessed me with the extreme kindness of running into Stefani Leger as the Closing/Transfer Agent. If you're reading this and hoping to purchase in a building managed by Century Management, I hope you have the great privilege and fortune of having Stefani Leger as your Closing/Transfer Agent. If I sound like I'm being overly-effusive, it's because of what I went through with this purchase and how Ms. Leger's involvement strongly impacted the eventual success. My experience with Century Management is very positive. My large Coop is managed by Century and since the changeover, many positive building improvements have occurred and the customer service provided is impressive. I've had many packages processed by Vanessa Borges and I give her 5 stars. She is always extremely professional, responsive and helpful. I feel the same for our Assistant Property Manager, Moreen Seecharran. This is not always the case with management companies. We have known Robert Mark over 5 years. He is the on site property manager at the condominium we were residing in over 30 years. Robert was always responsive to our calls and emails. When there was an issue that required regular maintenance he was certain to send someone to take care of the situation. If it was something out of the ordinary that needed more attention he would visit our home and oversee the issue. Since we are in real estate ourselves we have called upon many management offices for various issues and questions . Very few people were as attentive as Robert.
