I contacted Carol of Catering By Vest to discuss my daughter’s 6/28/18 wedding and I’m so glad I did!

From the tasting to the responsiveness to the service and the food - EVERYTHING was perfect! !

Carol paid attention to every detail - we had special requests for vegans / vegetarians and 1 guest who was allergic to garlic! The food was not only DELICIOUS but looked GOOD! The fruit display was AMAZING!! The reception set up was BEAUTIFUL!

Our guests KEPT saying how nice everything was!

My, my, my... What can I say about Catering by Vest. They were absolutely wonderful! Carol Vest and I worked for months to get a menu that worked best for us. Carol and I communicated via email, text and phone up to the day of the wedding. Carol Vest absolutely surprised me with some of the services she provided at no additional cost. Carol was very helpful in helping us prepare for our wedding. She proposed a menu for us and was accommodating when we made a few specific - and unusual - requests. She and her staff were able to adapt to working in our somewhat unusual venue without problem. Carol's staff was courteous and professional. I will only mention three minor criticisms. The food could have been warmer, the service could have started earlier, and the beef did not taste the same as it did when we had sampled it. Carol was true to her word. Professional and kind. Chef prepared delicious appetizers and entrees that were (according to guest) out of this world. Wait staff couldn't be better. Clean up, went off without a hitch. Catering by Vest has my highest recommendation. As a busy Executive I needed a catering company I could count on. They fulfilled their mission and then some. Many people complimented not only our food but also the professionalism of her staff, which was outstanding. Carol went above and beyond to work with our point of contact for the venue who was quite challenging and seemed to undermine her work. Whereas other caterers would have responded in a defensive manner, she was quite accommodating and flexible and remained professional. Overall, we were pleased with Catering by Vest and would recommend them to anyone in the area. The food, cooked by one of the owners of Catering by Vest, is outstanding. Everyone always worries that the quality of the food on their wedding day won't match up to what they tried at the tasting-- that was not the case here. The food was just as good or better. Carol was very accommodating from the beginning, emphasizing that it was our event, with our vibe, and that they wanted it to be just how we wanted it-- every detail included. I really appreciated that. We got to tweak the menu just how we wanted. We also really appreciated how they provided a personal server for our sweetheart table, who always made sure our drinks were filled and asked if there was any food we wanted. She provided food to our table so we didn't have to get in line with the guests. A few things that we agreed Catering by Vest could improve upon are their communication and professionalism. There were a few times when we had to repeatedly email about the same question or concern, and it didn't seem to be answered, or the answer was confusing. There were a couple times when I felt that for a company that has been in business for 30+ years, they could have been more professional in how they handled concerns and details. I think it would help if they hired an assistant or two. That being said, their manner was always friendly, it was simply that sometimes I worried that details were slipping between the cracks, so to speak. In the end, everything went perfectly on the wedding day, so I think it was a matter of miscommunication, which could have been cleared up if Carol was clearer in her emails and kept better track of details. If you are a type-A bride or groom, and have a helping hand or wedding coordinator, you can probably maneuver these minor issues just fine and you'll be rewarded with some of the highest quality food for an extremely good value. The experience I had with Vest Catering was wonderful! As it was a very special occasion I was understandably nervous but there was no need to be everything went off without a hitch (or a least my guest and I didn't know it if there was). The responsiveness and gentle care that Carol Vest took when speaking with me about my desired menu and vision for the venue and co-ordination with my planner was invaluable. Catering by Vest was a great selection for us. After meeting Carol for our tasting we knew the food would be good, but the food served on the wedding day blew us away. It was delicious and the service was great. The Vest team was efficient in setting up and transitioning seating between ceremony and reception. My husband and I are not a typical couple as we are both very unique. Our wedding theme was the combination of his likes and my likes to signify the joinging of two people as one. CBV rose to the challenge as we did not go for a traditional meal. It was a combination of his favorite food and mines. It was just as unique as we are. The food was wonderful and worked so well together that they actually complimented one another (just like us!). Everyone is still talking about the great quality, taste, and flavor of the food. If the rating could be higher believe us they deserve a 10+. They will be catering our daughter's Sweet Sixteen in October so we are looking forward to some more great food! More...

CBV is top notch! Our wedding was April 6, 2013 @ 6:00pm. CBV arrived at the venue minutes earlier than planned...that's an awesome thing for a bride to see - the catering company arriving earlier than originally planned. Their staff was absolutely amazing - very professional, great customer service. Oh, and did I mention the food - the guests are still talking about the great food! It is safe to say that my husband and I will be using CBV for all upcoming events.

Food is delicious, I only had one problem with them and that was the time my wedding was suppose to start at 6 I asked the food be ready by 7 of course no wedding is really on time one thing I expected was the food to be done the wedding itself didnt start til 7 which pushed my reception back til 8 and the food was still being setup making it even later before being served, other than that I loved them they are great reasonable prices, great food, and the staff itself is very friendly and polite and works with you.

My husband and I searched far and wide for an excellent caterer and found Chef Thomas as a referral from his sister who also used Catering by Vest for her wedding in June. Chef Thomas and his staff are an excellent team to work with. They were all very professional from the very beginning. They were very responsive from the tasting all the way through the reception of the wedding. I would recommend that any bride use Catering by Vest for any type of event that needs food. Along with the food they were very understanding even as far as financing is concerned. Chef Thomas and his team are excellent and are worth every cent and so much more!!!!!!! Chef Thomas and staff are amazing. We had never dreamed our wedding to be so magical and flawless. Our guest were awed with the beautiful presentations and DELICIOUS culinary work. From start to finish Chef Thomas and Carol will take the vision of your special day and make it come to life. The both of them will put there many years of experience to work for you. Carol will have a consultation with you about the type of event you are looking for. She does a great job at getting all the details small and big. Carol will even help you with giving you the best layout plan for your venue so you are using every space available to accomadate all that you want for your wedding. Chef Thomas has the Culinary side of the team. He knows food and will tell you all about the many senses he is always trying to satisfy when he is producing his art. I say art because it is beautiful when he displays it and your guess will be asking for seconds if not a third serving. The appitizers started it our event and there was plenty flowing as his staff served our guest. Just when you think that you have seen all the selections you choose ahead of time the Chef will surprise you with something different that will have your guess asking "what was that? It was delicious". Please do yourself a favor and ask for the sweet potato tart. As for the dinner, it was amazing. The dinner was 5 star quality. Starting out with the aromas coming from the kitchen it caught everyone's attention. Second, the presentation with the vegetables cut in different patterns and designs was awesome. Somebody has great knife skills. Last but not least the overall taste of everything was superb. The taste of this food is so good that you would have thought a world renowned Chef had prepared it for President Obama. I wish I could rate Catering By Vest higher than this!!! This company is by far the best at what they do, from the food which our guest are still raving about, the professionalism they protrayed on our wedding day was over and beyond, and Mrs. Vest herself who I will hold near to my heart is the heart of this company. My day of coordinator who was suppose to keep me calm and handle all of the miniture fires that arise was a serious let down however; Mrs Carole came to me and knew I was not happy with the decor. My Wedding date was Spetember 6, 2012 at the Newton White Mansion. I had previously hired a cater that I was not impressed with and found Chef Thomas thru wedding wire. I met with him initially in March and kept in touch through out the months. Chef Thomas is such and delight to work with as well as his other staff, especially Ms. Marvell. The are so helpful and thoughtful when it comes to bring your vision together for you big day. He gives you his honest opinion as to different options and services. Catering by Vest is also very affordable and able to work with you surrounding your budget. My big day has come and went and I have heard nothing but good reviews about the food from everyone who atteneded! Everything was well prepared and the staff did beyond a wonder job with everything! They were all professionally dressed and very well mannered. The only down fall to the reception was a key centerpiece that was missing after a miscommunication between one of the vendors and the catering, but NO ONE could tell (but of course only me). I chose this caterer because they came highly recommended. They did not disappoint. Everyone raved about the food. I had guests call me after the wedding to inquire about who catered the wedding! ! The food was delicious and was very affordable. The staff seemed ready to help. I was under the impression they would staff the buffet line and serve the guests. Cater By Vest is the BEST!!! From our initial consultation to the execution of the event we recieved the royal treatment. Mrs . Vest is such a lovely person, she offers the perfect introduction to a very professional and responsive experience. I must have flipped flopped betwen ivory and peach dinner napkins maybe 5 or 6 times. Mrs. Vest was very patient and kind. Our table settings and decor looked fabulous!! Chef Thomas....everyone raved about how flavorful the food was on our wedding day! Mr. and Mrs. Vest were great! They were very understanding and professional when we didn't really know what we wanted for our wedding. They clearly explained all our options based on our budget with no hidden costs. Also, they were super patient with us when we ran into some financial issues. They didn't hound us or act inconvenienced when we needed to make some changes based on our budget.
On the day of the wedding the team was on time and worked hard they even helped to set up our (very simple) centerpieces.
Finally, Mrs. Vest was a great help not only with the food but also with making sure that the day's events went smoothly. She was there the entire day to explain any changes and give us updates on her people's work.
Mr. Vest was in the kitchen and ready to offer his congratulations at the end of the day. He and his associates were working hard and were quick and efficient in cleaning up.
My husband and I didn't really get to eat much and the Vests kindly made both of us a full plate of food to take home.

With just a little time to prepare for the wedding, I was extremely impressed with the services provided Catering By Vest. Before I found this caterer, I had experienced 11 tastings from 11 different companies. But none of them fulfilled the taste, decoration and cost test. I wanted good soulful food, without it being Thanksgiving dinner at my wedding. I wanted my wedding plated to add a bit of elegance. And I had a budget. Catering by Vest is the BEST! We found them based on reviews from Wedding Wire and using their services was the best decision we made! First of all, Chef and Carol are wonderfully kind, generous people. They really care about you and are invested in making your day special! Carol handles the business side. She is very attentive to detail, responds promptly to requests, and was able to arrange for decorative services too (linens, chair covers, etc.). Our wedding was at the Newton White Mansion in Mitchellville Maryland. We used
Catering By Vest (AWESOME) for our food and set up. I want you to know we had the best time of our life. Mr. Thomas and Mrs Carol are the most wonderful people to work with. Out of all our research, they are the most reasonable catering sevice in this area for what we got. We had about two hundred people and they work so hard to make sure we were happy, and we were.
