Catching Lightning (Collin & Breanna) were fantastic at our wedding on October 7th. We had Collin play a lot of nontraditional music for a wedding and it was great. They brought a bunch of awesome effects. The venue setup required a bit of creativity on Catching Lightning's part but they were able to make everything special. Collin did a great job with the wedding announcements: bridal party introductions, dance information, shoe game, dessert, etc. I got great feedback from our guests as well. Breanna captured some great moments herself. Catching Lightning played a great selection of requests and other selections. I'm glad Collin kept playing the music we wanted (which packed the dance floor) despite the Day of Coordinator badgering to change it. My wife agrees with this sentiment. We recently used Collin for my Sister in laws surprise 50th birthday party. Initially we had another musician scheduled who bailed on us the very last moment. Thankfully Collin jumped in without any hesitation and saved our party. If you are looking for a DJ who is prompt, professional and loads of fun look no further. We can’t recommend him enough. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
The key to keeping a crowd moving is keeping the right energy in the room. Knowing your crowd’s preferred genres, adjusting to how they respond, and interacting with them. If the DJ is genuinely enjoying being there, that happiness is contagious.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
I am primarily a club style DJ. By this I mean that I specialize in keeping a consistent beat moving and carefully select songs and genres that fit the tone and mood of both the event and the crowd. I enjoy using dramatic buildups and high energy songs to keep everyone interested.
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing my crowd having a great time. For me, the most gratifying moment of any performance is the room dancing and/or singing along with the music and partying like nobody is watching.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I got into DJing as an extension of an existing passion. I had experience DJing for an online radio station and as a result, DJ’d my own party last year. Seeing the excitement and interest from the crowd and how much fun interacting with them was inspired me to pursue it more seriously.
Why should our clients choose you?
In addition to my experience as a DJ, I have also been a musician for 17 years and a producer for 9. I have a deep understanding of music beyond performing at clubs and parties. Furthermore, I have run a successful software company for nearly a decade and am extremely comfortable with business, the professional aspects of events, and with client relations.
