I felt compelled to give Carbonero a 5 star rating. However, it is not a 5 star restaurant in the traditional sense. While the waiter was good and attentive the service is not 5 star level. The music noise level was too loud for all at our table. I would compare it to Southern CA levels. The food was excellent, cooked properly and tasty. My wife and I split a #1 Combo and it was sufficient for both of us plus a take home box. The fried Yucca was not too dry but had its characteristic bland flavor. The Pulpuos we had were mushroom and pork. They were very good. The shrimp, beef and chicken were also surpub. Only positive things to say about the food.We will return for sure. Everyone was friendly, prices competitive and ambiance ok. The place was reasonably full but not packed and I would estimate 70% at 5PM. More...

Very enjoyable. I honestly cannot remember what we ordered, but both of us thoroughly enjoyed it over a long and leasurely conversation. Very comfortable, cozy setting. What a different spot to eat especially if your wanting something different but a bang for your buck and flavorful. This is like finding an oasis in the desert. Carbonero's is full of latin charm and the tempting smell leads you through their door. The menu has the perfect latin variety, but isn't overwhelmingly long. Found this place whilst visiting sam Houston State University. Great find. Authentic salvadorian food, we had the house signature rotisserie chicken with fried plantains and steamed yucca. It also came with papusas which I hadn't eaten since working in Latin America in the early 90's. Food was all fabulous. Great ambient music from central america. Even the chips and salsa were home made fresh and brilliantly done. Update. We liked it so much we came back several months later using SHSU as an excuse for more rotisserie chicken. I finally got a chance to try this gem in Huntsville that I always hear about. The food was sooo good! I especially liked the yuca, the shrimp and the smothered chicken breast. Let me tell you why I write this place five star! The minute they see that you're coming out of the small little Auntie room they grab you up and find you where would you like to sit and what would you like today and would you like something cold are you hot today what what is your name my name is Paul Polo he was my waiter and he gave me stuff at my if I'd had more money I could have bought the whole place but I just had some dip and some chips and a coke and that's all I had and the minute you put your hand up what would you like man there were two or three people that waited on me but my main waiter was such a dear so if you ever come out of a chance to come to this place it is in the I'll call at the Family Dollar Shopping Center there's also Walgreens is up on the corner but come come in Euros is down right next to the auto tune-up place they are well worth the trouble and the time and the money if you have a chance to get away from wherever you are and go rest in the nice atmosphere did a Zedge, Narrows thank you with a care of your they carry Latin American food hot food American food you name it asked for it you got it that will please your palate and please your pocketbook thank you for the chance to tell you about this place bye-bye

Wonderful staff! Their food was great! The dessert was delicious! I will be going back again soon. Even though the food was great the only thing is that it just took a while for the food to come out, but that isn't a big issue! I'd recommend you try it!
