If you’re looking for someone who knows their stuff but won’t talk down to you or talk at you when giving you the information, then Brian is the trainer for you. He doesn’t just show off his knowledge of dogs and their behaviors, he shows you how to address them and teaches you the psychology behind it, in a simple and respectful way, easy for you to understand. Often times as dog owners we forget that our dogs learn behaviors, behaviors that we strongly influence and contribute to them developing. Brian has been wonderful in helping me unlearn bad habits and helping them unlearn bad behaviors, while also teaching us how to learn new productive ones and communicate with one another better. Our case was a difficult one. And I am very impressed and grateful not only for his plethora of knowledge, but especially with his patience in dealing with us. So thank you Brain, for answering our call for help, and for being the awesome dog trainer you are! More...

Helped my dog greatly. Only had an initial lesson but he gave the history of our dogs breed and told us different ways to help her. Only hours after implementing what he described our dog did a complete 180 and was like a totally new dog. Definetly worth the money. I’d recommend! More...

Brian is a colleague of mine and one of the top trainers for dog behavior issues on the East Coast. Highly recommend.

I recently saw a quote on Facebook that read : "There are those that tell you what to think and there are those that will teach you how to think. The first type of person wants power and your dependancy and the second type wants to empower you to live independently." This describes perfectly, my experience with Brian Fleming and his approach to reactive dogs and their owners. To teach a dog autonomy is teaching empowerment. It's really too bad more trainers don't get into the true psychology of dogs and why they act the way they do and instead, focus on nipping the behavior by any means necessary. The difference in his approach leaves you in a true partnership with your canine companion with an understanding of what their behavior stems from. Not only did he maintain control without touching the dog, but he asked background questions about everything from sleeping arrangements to everyday habits that most of us regard as "cute" and not relevant. He educated us in regards to our own contribution to his behavior that we were previously clueless about. All this in the very first one on one session. Having a larger breed reactive dog is draining and as a result we may make bad choices thinking we are helping when in fact we are making things far worse. The only way to know is to go to a true canine behavorist like Brian that is rare in the world of training and gadgets. I can't thank him enough and feel very relieved that my dog is on his way to a better, happier life therefore making ours exactly the same. Thank you again Brian. More...

Brian was great with our two dogs. One was hyper excited, the other very fearful. By the end of the first session, Brian helped balance both dogs to be calm and confident. The second session was just as impressive as they both seemed very relaxed and responsive to his guidance. It was awesome to see them looking to both Brian and us for guidance and reinforcement. We would highly recommend Brian to help with any situation you may have with your dogs. He explains why and how he trains so it makes sense! A big thumbs up! More...

We have been working with Brian for only a few weeks but, we are already seeing great results! We have a very anxious and fearful dog along with one that is very overstimulated and has difficult calming. Brian has given us tools that have allowed them to begin the process to be in a place of more rest and peace! We are going to continue this process with him after seeing things change. Thank you Brian! More...

Brian was awesome with Luna our German Shepherd who was barking & being very protective when he arrived but he quickly gained her trust and she was eager to please him. He explained to us all about how dogs learn & exactly how to stop the jumping and cat chasing in a very easy way. We both feel confident that the method he taught us will work & we will be practicing everyday! It’s already working and I’m super excited about having him come back again! 👍 Sandy & Rob Martin 😀 More...

Brian came to our home the day we brought our now 11 week Ollie home, and we had another session with him yesterday. The knowledge that he's shared with us is invaluable! We had another trainer from a different company come out last week...what we learned from Brian and how Ollie responds to him, is worth its weight in gold. Helping us to understand the way our puppy thinks, how to redirect negative behavior and teach positive behavior, are lessons my husband and I only wish we had with our last dog. This guy is the real deal! Any dog owner who doesn't use Brian as a resource is truly missing out on the best way to become educated, which in turn allows one to build a less stressful relationship during the frustrating behavior times our dogs' exhibit. We can't wait till our next session with Brian!🐾🐾 More...

After just one session with Brian, I feel confident that we are on the right path towards training Ruby to be a well mannered, and relaxed pup! Brian took the time to explain the psychology behind the behaviors that Ruby has that we are struggling with, and taught us strategies to practice with her to address the root cause of those behaviors! His approach is humane, calm, and practical. He explained the recommended strategies, and also modeled those strategies for us, which was extremely helpful in being able to learn! a All of Brian's work is done in the dogs natural environment, vs in a controlled setting, which is a wonderful way to get the most personalized plan for your dog. I highly recommend Brian the Barkeologist for any of your training needs! More...

We started training with Brian in June 2020 with our Cunucu (rescue from Aruba), Louie and we’ve had an amazing experience. We’ve gained a better understanding of dog behavior and how to work through anxieties and fears in various settings. Brian’s expertise and guidance enabled us to greatly limit the extreme barking Louie was doing out our windows! Working from home this was previously a real challenge. We’ve made great progress with muzzle training and our greeting of guests. Brian is friendly, honest and really passionate about what he does. Louie and I highly recommend him. More...

Seeing the lightbulbs go off in both the owner, and dog, as they begin to understand eachother better

I wanted to break away from status quo dog training and pursue methods more in line with the psychology of dogs

I look at all the factors that contribute to behavior, (Learning, Environment, Genetics, and Self) whereas most trainers only focus on the L, and are more concerned with selling obedience packages than they are with improving your relationship with your dog
