I have been getting very good grooming there for years.  Last week, Sandy, the groomer, noticed one of the dogs I brought in had tiny, white flakes coming off his skin and a red ring on his tummy and recommended a vet look at it.  Vet said that it was a bacterial infection and that it was an excellent groomer who spotted it and took the time and trouble to inform the client.  Thanks Sandy! We have two poodles, both of whom we groom here. We have had them groomed at several other places including petsmart, and will never return anywhere except here. While it is a tad pricier, and often takes longer for my dogs to get in and out, it is worth it for the quality hair cut they get. I have not been to ANY dog groomer who could groom my two poodles as well. One of them is also a behavioral wreck and probably couldn't be groomed with any other less patient groomers. It can take a while, often the dogs are there for several hours, however it is worth it for the quality hair cut. There is not another groomer in bethesda that is worth going to. I would recomend making an appointment in advanced as slots fill FAST. More...

We've been taking our dogs here for years and although it can feel a little pricey (our current pup has long hair and very furry paws that require extra attention), she always comes out looking great and smelling clean.  Lots of people compliment her haircut.  There was really only once when I thought the cut was not good and let them know I was disappointed and they took 20 percent off the total which I felt was a good way of handling the issue.  Also, I truly appreciate that groomer Theresa takes extra special care.  She noticed our dog had developed an abscess on one of her nails that we had not noticed (see extra furry paws above).  She told the front desk to give me her cell so she could fill me in on what she did and how we might prevent the problem in the future (also strongly recommended a vet visit asap.)  That's the kind of "extra mile" that I appreciate.  Plus I love being able to support a local small business. Took my puppy to petsmart, and she had two horrible experiences.  I looked on yelp to find a place nearby to use as my new groomer, and this place was amazing.  Drop off is in the morning and they call you when they are done.  Everyone has complimented my dog on her new haircut, when they said her haircut looked poor every time after I took her to petsmart.  They also have some cool treats to buy and give to your pet after if you want.  Definitely going to use this place again. 5Stars!!!! I took our three beagles to be groomed for the first time by Bone Jour, we moved back to Bethesda with the three dogs after 4 years away. I have never had our dogs groomed so well, down to their toenails and the hair carefully trimmed inbetween their paw pads. One of the dogs sheds profusely (all rescue) and somehow they groomed Prince so he does not shed as much. A boon for me trying to keep the pet hair to a minimum. There is no way that I could have been any happier with my experience at Bone Jour! We brought our 3 Schnauzers in for a grooming and not only have they never looked better they were calm and happy when I picked them up when they normally hate the groomers so much that they are "traumatized" for days afterwards (they are such drama kings! ). Bone Jour is the BEST! I originally was referred to Bone Jour by our vet (Friendship Hospital for Animals in DC) and I have been taking my Maltipoo there for over 6 years (since she was 2 months old) and they have consistently groomed her beautifully. The people at Bone Jour are nice, caring, knowledgeable about dogs/breeds, and extremely contentious and talented at what they do. They treat the animals wonderfully, and I've recommended them to everyone I know with a dog in this area. I would not take my dog anywhere else but Bone Jour! More...

I have a new rescue dog, a Bison-Poodle mix that had been neglected for the past year. Never had a bath or been brushed, much less groomed. Your shop was recommended to me by my vet, Diane Ferris.

I explained to Joanne how skittish he was and she put me at ease, explaining how everything would be handled and how the groomer would make sure he stayed calm and that the groomer would take as much time as needed to get him shaved, give him a bath, trim his nails and clean out his ears.

When I came to pick him up he was just as calm as could be and the groomer came out and told me he was fine throughout the process. I thanked the groomer and I was so relieved he was okay I can't remember her name but Joanne can tell you.

I tried to call you last evening to "register a compliment" but was informed you were not at the shop but I could reach you via email. Seems most people only call to complain but the great service I received and the compassion and caring my dog received from your staff yesterday was "above and beyond" and needs to be acknowledged.

We have been sending our cocker spaniel dog to Bone Jour for a year now and could not be happier! Her regular groomer, Sam, does a wonderful job on our dog. Her work is thorough and well done. Our dog tends to be a bit anxious, but Sam has a way with dogs and our dog really takes to her. It's always nice to get our dog back after a grooming looking so good. The rates are reasonable and the service is super. You can tell that they really care about the animals and take time to do things right. 5 stars! More...

I have taken my dog max to Bone Jour for five years and have never had a problem. The people are great, I'm on a first name basis with Joanne (the manager) and she is wonderfully helpful. Even when Max's fur is in poor condition (and has to be cut short) he come out looking great. His groomer, Theresa does an amazing job with all dogs I've seen come out.I have read some of the bad reviews and I think these people are nit picking. Truth is, they're taking a DOG to get groomed. Dogs don't do what they're told and there are a lot of bad dogs out there, lacking any type of training from most of these Bethesda housewives. More...

We recently moved to Bethesda from NYC and our main concern was finding all the proper care for our Cocker Spaniel. We had our amazing groomer in Park Slope Brooklyn, and needed someone comparable to them. We found it at Bone Jour. Their groomer is excellent. They always get any mats out of his longer fur and he looks wonderful and seems like he had a great time. They say it's expensive, but it s cheaper than we were used to paying in NYC.
