BluSage Catering

R&R re-branded to BluSage Catering after I booked with them, but before my wedding. The beginning booking process was easy as pie - we got to have a tasting before signing the contract, which was a major deciding factor for us. No bride wants to book a caterer only to find out the food is sub par, which it definitely wasn't. After the company re-branded, there was some slight confusion with my contract, because the manager I had been in contact with was no longer with the company. However, the new manager I corresponded with, Michelle, was great! She personally reviewed the details of my contract with me to make sure she had all the information correct. This was especially important to me, as we were having a guest with special dietary restrictions that they were more than happy to accommodate.

On the day of the wedding, my husband and I had to miss our cocktail hour due to taking formal pictures. We were not expecting two of the catering staff to come to the picture location (which was a bit of a walk from the reception location) with trays of appetizers and drinks for the whole bridal party! It was a wonderful surprise that pleased us to no end!

On top of that, we had a buffet style dinner that all my guests still praise two months later. Their food was hot, it was delicious, the steak was cooked perfectly, the chicken was so tender, and on. If there's one thing guests take away from a wedding, it's their memories of the food; a bad mean can equal a bad wedding overall, but that's not something a bride needs to worry about with R&R/BluSage.

The catering manager on site also plated up a small selection of each food option for my husband and myself and served us at our sweetheart table, so there's no worry of having to lead a buffet line in a wedding dress and tux! We used R&R Catering for our wedding November 2016. I can't say enough great things about them. I worked with Michelle who was amazing! Very responsive and knew exactly what she was talking about. The linens and china provided were beautiful. We provided our own alcohol and Michelle was spot on with the quantities (she recalled them from the top of her head during our coordination meeting. We are very happy with our decision to hire R&R to do the catering for our July 30, 2016 wedding.
The first event designer/sales associate we were assigned to was not very responsive. A couple of times it took her 1-2 months to reply to my emails. When I asked for a new point of contact, I was paired with Rachael who is absolutely delightful to work with. She is super responsive, helpful and personable. I never felt like I asked too many questions! She provided lots of helpful input and ideas at the venue walk-through as well. We can't say enough great things about R&R catering and especially Rachael Lincoln. My daughter had a vision for her reception and wanted everything a certain way including the right food, flowers, colors and design layout at our venue. Rachael gave us great advice and was extremely accommodating. Prior to the wedding date, she helped us with so many ideas and was always very available. Working with R&R was one of the highlights of wedding planning! My now husband and I had an absolute blast putting our wedding menu together, and everything was incredibly delicious! The staff was incredibly thoughtful in bringing us some drinks and hors d'oeuvres while we were held up taking family photos, and checked in on us throughout the night to make sure we have we had everything we needed. R&R was the exclusive caterer to our venue, Bull Run Golf Club. They were very affordable, but that was also partly due to their exclusiveness to the venue. Vivian was very helpful when choosing our food for the day. R&R did not have a huge selection of food, but I've got to say that the day of the wedding was amazing for wedding food. After our tasting, we accepted that wedding food was wedding food, and we weren't looking for something top rated, only delicious. We pleasantly were surprised with how many compliments we got about the food the night of the wedding. R&R also provided the linens and table settings for the venue. They had very large selection and gladly "upgraded" our table clothes to be able to match the colors we wanted for the wedding. We used R&R for my parents 50th Anniversary. I would use them to cater ANY event. Rachael was our sales rep and Cocoa was the lead caterer on the day of the event. We had R&R cater our wedding and we have nothing but great things to say about them! We worked with Dianna, who was amazing and made the whole process easier. Not only did she help us with our menu, but she helped with designing the layout of our reception room and cocktail hour. She accommodated us each and every time we wanted an updated proposal and was there on our wedding day to make sure we had food/drink the whole time. She also allowed us extra time to make a judgement call on whether or not we would setup indoors or outside for the ceremony as it was raining that day. We were very satisfied with the food and drink that was served, you can't beat their open bar prices! We told R&R ahead of time that we had a group of heavy drinkers. They noted that on the proposal and sure enough we had more than enough alcohol to appease everybody! Rachael from R&R was amazing to work with. She was very flexible with us wanting to taste many options and create our own menu for a slightly nontraditional wedding and food service. She was responsive and made things super easy for us by suggesting delicious options based on what she learned about our tastes. And the team that was arranged for day-of services was great. Brenda, the day-of supervisor, was so easy to work with especially as we were running around setting up for our backyard wedding. We were looking for the food service "to go with the flow" and their preparation and timing was perfect. I used R&R catering for my wedding on 4/29/2016. They are a partner of the venue, Bull Run Golf Club in Haymarket. I can tell you that we had nothing but compliments from the guests about the food! And that typically NEVER happens! We were able to attend several of their tastings/mock weddings at the venue so we had a great variety of food before we had to select our options. The set up, the staff and bar tenders were all very polite and professional. I honestly hope to eat some more of their food very soon, it was that good!! They were very easy to work with and very responsive - the last couple weeks before the wedding there were some going back and forth with some minor changes/guests counts, etc. and there were no problems. If your venue offers an outside catering option, I would recommend setting up a tasting or attending one of the R&R tastings events and checking them out! More...

I enjoyed working with RR. The food was amazing and everyone loved it including my picky Grandmother! The staff was very professional and I especially liked the wait staff manager who made it a point to make sure my groom and I, my grandparents and the parents were all taken care of. That was a nice touch! The only thing I did not like was that the bartenders put out tip jars without my consent. I had already tipped the bartenders as is requested I do per RR's contract so I was confused to see tacky tip jars sitting out. I probably would not have cared so much if I had not made 2 honeymoon jars to sit at each of the bars which were asking guests to contribute money towards our honeymoon fund. I went to get a drink and my jar was tucked back and to the side where it could easily be mistaken for décor while the bartenders large tip jar was prominently displayed in the middle of the bar. This made me upset as I saw my jar sitting empty and a tip jar filled to the brim. If I had known the bartenders would receive double I would have saved the huge amount I tipped and used if for our honeymoon. We only ended up getting $21 from 2 honeymoon jars and I am sure we would have received more if only our jars were displayed. Very frustrating. My suggestion would be not to tip the bartenders in advance. They will have tip jars out no matter what and your guests will feel obligated to pay like ours did. R&R Catering recently catered our wedding and did an amazing job. The food was delicious (the mascarpone and spinach stuffed salmon was our favorite), and they did a great job with all the details. We had a fall wedding, and they provided hot apple cider as the guests arrived at the ceremony. They also worked closely with us to help us create a good design for the reception. We worked with Dianna, and she was incredibly helpful and friendly. I would echo some previous reviews that she can take a few days to respond to emails, but as long as you're not a bridezilla, I don't think it's a problem. Rachael Lincoln at R&R Catering rocks! Rachael took over our contract less than 3 weeks before my wedding day and didn't miss a beat! She stepped in and made sure that everything ran smoothly! Rachael showed excellent professionalism even through my nervous moments. She answered every question and responded to me in a timely fashion. Her team did not an excellent job from the time they arrived to the venue to setup until the event was over!

This company went above and beyond to make sure that we (the bride and groom) were taken care of on our day. We did not do a first look before the ceremony so our bridal photos were done during cocktail hour. I was surprised when they brought a plate of food and drinks to us immediately after the ceremony so we did not miss a chance to eat during the cocktail hour. Many of my friends warned that I wouldn't have time to eat on our wedding day with so much going on but this company made it very convenient for us. They also plated our food and brought it to us before people were called for the buffet, which was nice. The food was just as amazing as the food we tried at the tasting months prior. The only thing I will say we did not like was hearing complaints from our guests about the staff asking them to get up from their tables so they could pack up at the end of the night. We thoroughly enjoyed with Anne from R&R - if you're getting married in Northern Virginia, chances are she has worked at the venue before and has a relationship with the site manager. We found this to be invaluable as we prepared for our reception, as she was able to provide loads of insight as to what worked in the past, what was problematic, and why. Throughout the process she was personable, accommodating, and a lot of fun to work with. When we told her we were working on a bit of a tighter budget, she was incredibly flexible and helped us find creative ways to cut down costs. She can find ways to make budgets work without sacrificing your vision.

When we first met Martha B., we knew we were in good hands. She was so friendly, accommodating, super helpful, and very caring throughout the process. She did a fantastic job listening to our vision and sharing her insights. We really appreciate how she took her time explaining the different packages, her recommendations, and just the overall logistics of having a catered wedding. We were slightly hesitant when choosing a package because we didn't know a buffet would look like at our wedding. When I think of a buffet, I think chaos and long lines which translates to family members complaining. Fortunately, R&R's ELEGANT buffet is truly elegant! There's no other words to describe it. My family and friends said it was very smooth, beautiful and absolutely tasty! We couldn't be happier with Martha's dedications and hard work!!

Maritza M. and her team were fantastic! They made the bar area, buffet, the serpentine dessert table, everything, everything was beautiful!! Maritza introduced herself to me and my husband during our dinner and she was sooo very kind and accommodating. Her team really went above and beyond and more!

We only looked at R&R to cater our wedding and we couldn't be happier. Definitely using them again. If you are looking for a caterer, I would not doubt this company!!! They know their craft and they do it with passion, energy, and love.

From the planning to the execution, R&R Catering was absolutely incredible. Rachael Lincoln was my event coordinator and she worked with me for months to get the menu and linens nailed down. She was always very responsive via email and phone. She was on top of everything and had me think about things that I wouldn't have even thought to think of. The tasting was so enjoyable with her there to walk us through the food and then she was there at the final walk-through at our venue, and again proved to be such a valuable asset. The day-of was also wonderful. The staff were all prompt, prepared and professional. The event supervisor onsite was so attentive and wonderful. She even went so far as to prepare mine and my husband's plates for us at dinner (we had a buffet) and follow us around with drinks while we took photos. We're not quite sure where to start...From the initial meeting we knew we wanted R&R Catering. This only after seeking out 3 others. We didn't feel the warm and fuzzy with the others. Decided to go with R and R catering for our wedding. The staff were awesome when we met them. Non of the ones we met were at the wedding. During the wedding my husband noticed that most of the food served were not the same as the ones we tried when we sat down to do a tasting. This was disappointing however the guests enjoyed the cocktail food and dinner service. Later on in the night none of the staff put a sign saying that water was on the floor so I walked in that soaking the bottom of my dress. This was the BEST wedding food I have ever tasted. I love food and had high standards for the meal I wanted to serve my 150 guests, and let me say R&R blew my expectations out of the water. Not only did they offer us a wonderful tasting to design our menu and bring together various tastes, but Natalie Seng was a amazing resource of information about everything from the ins-and-outs of our wedding venue (Oatlands Historic Gardens and Estates), design ideas, money saving measures, and rain/weather contingency. She immediately responded to any and all our many many questions, was very professional and warm and I knew she would help us make our dreams come true. R&R Catering served the BEST wedding food I have ever had! And I'm not just saying that because it was my wedding, haha. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the tortellini was a huge guest favorite! There was also a ton of food at the very elegant buffet, so everyone was full and happy!

I worked closely with Anne and she was an absolute blessing. We had a tight budget for food, and she went above and beyond to accommodate. On the day of the wedding, she checked in with the groom and I throughout the night to make sure we were taken care of--this included making sure we ate a full plate of food before greeting our guests, and ensuring I always had a glass of wine in my hand!

We were pleased with R&R catering. All of our guest said they enjoyed the food that we selected. We had a brunch wedding and there were multiple choices to choose from to complete our wedding day menu. The staff was very nice. They even made sure the bridal party received food/drinks during cocktail hour. The only downside was that we went through three different event designers leading up to the wedding. Martha was the last person that was assigned to our event and she was point on. She contacted me to introduce herself, provided options and dates/timelines.
