So this review is a little delayed, but I referred someone else to Beyond The Dog today, and it made me think about writing a review for our trainer from the past. Ashley and Kelsey helped Moose become a companion to our family. We were concerned with our pup's wild behavior, nipping, and complete disregard for our commands with him. Kelsey transformed Moose to an entirely new animal. He's great with our 1 year old, he listens, he'll come inside now, he'll stay in his place, he'll sit, shake, wait, and so much more. Kelsey did a great job with Moose, saved my wife's sanity (and as a direct result of that, my sanity), and helped us bring out the good in our pup. We can't thank Kelsey and Beyond The Dog enough, and hopefully our neighbor calls Kelsey (if she's still there) also to help with their pup's training soon too! More...

I would highly recommend Beyond the Dog training. I took my pup for Board and Train and she came back a different dog. The training really helped me more than her! I cannot recommend them enough.

Beyond the Dog was awesome for our 10 month old cavalier Penny. She needed some help with manners including jumping and leash pulling behaviors. Drew was really patient and thorough with Penny and she has become a completely different puppy in just two weeks! I couldn't believe how awesome Drew did with her. She's done a complete 180 as far as changing the behaviors! Not only did he do a great job training Penny, but he was very kind to her and Penny loved her training time with Drew. Ashley came with Drew when he needed someone to be a pretend guest at the door, and they were both very professional, patient, thorough, and kind! We could not have been happier with Beyond the Dog and Stephanie, our wonderful trainer. Stephanie was so positive with our dog, Gus. Gus was a rescue and very fearful of so many things. His biggest problem (and ours) was when the doorbell rang. It was so bad, we had friends who did not want to visit. Who could blame them?! With Stephanie's help and some of our neighbors who were brave enough to ring the doorbell, Gus learned to go to his bed and stay until he was released. He is so much better now that when friends came over after the training, they could not believe he was the same dog. Beyond the Dog helped with our fearful pup. He would react negatively when he met strangers, and it greatly impacted his quality of life and also ours. Beyond the Dog knew what was causing Theo's behavior, and developed a thoughtful and effective training program specifically for him that has changed the way our puppy interacts with the world! Thank You Beyond the Dog & Stephanie!My name is Baxter and at 10 months old I found myself living alone on the streets of western Kansas. I arrived into Kansas City with a lot of baggage. Baggage filled with survival skills, fears and aggressions. My language of choice was biting! My first teacher resigned during our second class and referred us to Beyond the Dog. The staff at Beyond the Dog was lovely, very reassuring and calming. Straight away we were introduced to our trainer, Stephanie. Stephanie was very firm and yet loving during our daily class work. Stephanie was amazing and an absolute joy. I have now successfully completed my learning program with Beyond the Dog. These days my mom smiles a lot and says "good boy Baxter". So thankful for Beyond the Dog and our trainer Ashley. I adopted my 2 year old pit mix, Flirt, about 2 months ago and she had trouble adjusting to the city life. Flirt warmed up to Ashley quickly and eased my concerns. In a week, Flirt improved tremendously with leash walking. By week 2 and 3 we made so much progress with socialization around dogs and people both in my apartment and on the surrounding sidewalks. Beyond the Dog is a very professional company filled with experienced trainers. We had the pleasure of working with Stephanie, and she far exceeded our expectations. The 1:1 attention, hands on training and her easy to work with attitude (plus her love for dogs and our dog shined through) made this experience a blast. The investment is absolutely worth it. In just six sessions, we've seen big improvements in the key behaviors we wanted to address, and we are working with him using the tricks we learned from Stephanie ongoing to reinforce the good behaviors. I couldn’t say enough about this company (and especially our trainer Stephanie)! In a short 2.5 weeks, they have transformed our crazy pup into a well-behaved little guy. Beyond the Dog was an excellent experience for me and my rescue dog! Luna was anxious about guests entering into our home and I knew I needed to seek out a professional for insight into how I could help my girl relax. I found that professionalism in Beyond the Dog with Stephanie. She did an excellent job working with Luna and teaching her the "place" command. She also did a great job educating me on how I could continue the training, which I highly appreciated. We are so grateful for the incredible change we’ve seen in our dog Millie due to Beyond the Dog’s expertise - and specifically Stephanie’s dedication and talent. When we began noticing some concerning behavior in our dog, our vet recommended contacting Beyond the Dog. Within the very first phone call, Beyond the Dog proved their professionalism, commitment, and knowledge. We were overwhelmed and unsure how to approach the behavior of our 3-year-old mix breed (adopted as a puppy from a shelter). We were challenged by Millie’s growing aggression whenever guests entered our home — and sure enough our dog showed her true colors when Stephanie came to our home for the first session - barking, lunging on her leash, showing teeth..... I was afraid Stephanie would never want to come back! Of course, Stephanie worked tirelessly to win Millie over and she ABSOLUTELY did (even though Millie was a tough sell and surely would have frustrated anyone less patient and committed). All of the carefully organized tactics and creative strategies encouraged Millie not only to practice obedience but also to get EXCITED when Stephanie came over for sessions. Stephanie’s wisdom enlightened us on all the subtle things our dog had been showing us over the years which had grown into her displayed aggression and asset (food, space) guarding. We recently utilized Beyond The Dog training services for our border collie/Aussie mix, Oliver. Oliver was a very, very difficult 80 pound dog to control while on a leash. Ashley Reed, with Beyond the Dog, was our lead trainer. Ashley was able to teach Oliver all of the necessary leash walking skills. Oliver went from being almost impossible to control while leash walking to now being an excellent leash walking dog. Additionally, Ashley helped us with Oliver's greeting skills and waiting at the front and back doors, along with many other commands. We've used Beyond the Dog for both our kids and couldn't be more pleased! Our first dog, Bean, we got at 4 weeks and Sean helped us with early behavioral issues that literally saved his life (he was eating rocks! ). Firefly is our new rescue. We are so pleased with Erica and Beyond the Dog! Having two energetic boxer puppies, who were frequently described as 'beastly' by visitors, we knew we needed professional help. We could not have made a better choice when we selected Beyond the Dog. Erica not only addressed the behaviors on our 'want' list, but went above and beyond in addressing behaviors that we did not even realize were an issue. Impossible to overstate how happy I am with Beyond the Dog. They are miracle workers! Ashley Reed is a very talented trainer, and let me tell you, two Havanese puppies will try anyone's patience (they're just as cute as they need to be! ). She quickly gained their trust, and respect. So much so that by day three, when she arrived at the house, after a proper love fest, they would sit and stare up at her as if to say "we're ready for school now." They now are perfect leash walkers, respond quickly to commands, and I think they're both much happier knowing what is expected of them. They aren't yet six months, so we have more work to do, but Beyond the Dog gave me the knowledge, support and confidence to take them to the next level on my own. I can’t say enough about Beyond the Dog, our trainer is Ashley Reed she is unbelievable. Our Gus is being trained as a service dog and her patients with him ,myself & my husband is gracious. Gus just turned 8 months old, his obedience and focus is incredible! So looking forward to more and more tasks as he gets older.
I would recommend them for any obedience or task training.

So glad we chose Beyond the Dog to help with our new puppy! We have 6 kids between the ages of 2 and 13 and we really wanted our newest addition to our family to transition well. We are also hoping to register him as an emotion support animal in the near future and needed to have him trained well to behave in social situations. Our trainer, Ashley, was more than happy to allow our kids help during his lessons so that our puppy would respond to everyone in our family. Even our 2 year old loved teaching her puppy “place”. (So cute!) Rizzo not only surprised us week after week with how quickly he learned and how responsive he was to his training, but it was obvious that he had a special bond with Ashley. This is our third puppy to go through the program with Beyond The Dog. As expected, we are not disappointed. Ashley did a great job with our Rottweiler, Samson. I love their positive-reinforcement method of training. What I really love, though, is having a calm, well-behaved pet that adds joy to my life instead of a dog with out-of-control behavior that creates chaos and stresses me out. Wow ! I can not tell you how much Stephanie has helped me and my dog Marlie. It is a slow process yet we continue to move forward each and every training. I have done a lot of work and taken many training classes to assist my dog.
Stephanie has worked wonders for both my dog and me. My dog is only as confident as I am. Everyone i have dealt with has been wonderful but Ashley our trainer has been a life saver!!!
We were having huge issues with resource guarding and jealousy which was causing fights and lots of vet visits. I was so heart broken my girls could not be together. Now that we have worked with Beyond the Dog our house is a new place. I am so greatful they can all be together in the same room and love each other again. I cannot say enough good things about BTD, and our trainer, Ashely. Ashley was so flexible with our often hectic family schedule, and she was so wonderful incorporating our 4 year old and 2 year old into the training. I have used various trainers over the years with my last dog, and I can say with 100% certainty that the methods BTD uses shines far above the rest. Now that we use BTD methods training is a breeze! We adopted our Australian shepherd and soon found out she was uncomfortable with a family member. The barking was driving us all crazy. ..Beyond the Dog and Ashley R. were our third trainers...this time it worked! It is not entirely corrected, but with the one on one provided and the weekly training tips we are continuing to see progress. I am so glad I used Beyond the Dog. We adopted Penny, a german shepherd husky mix, from the shelter. She is a sweet dog and loved playing off leash at the dog park, but walking her on a leash around the neighborhood was impossible! Every time we passed another dog she went crazy...barking, growling, and lunging aggressively! We were embarrassed and starting to dread taking her on walks! Stephanie from beyond the dog worked with Penny for 3 weeks. Stephanie helped us understand the leash aggression/reactivity and how to properly train her. Stephanie gave us all the tools and education we needed! Now a month or two later, after continuing to do the training on our own, we are happy to report on her progress! Penny is great on a leash! When we see another dog, she sits and gets a treat. She has even progressed to meeting and sniffing other dogs while on leash, which we never thought would be possible. Yesterday, another leash reactive dog barked and growled at Penny and she simply sat and waited for her treat. We are so proud of our Penny girl! We found out we were the third family to adopt Monty after we brought him home. He'd bitten two people, so we knew we were his last chance. Ashley came to help us with his three biggest issues: severe separation anxiety, lunging at cars/animals and, most importantly, aggression towards guests. After a month, his first two issues have all but disappeared, and we are able to introduce him to guests safely and quickly. New friends become his best friends within 15 minutes! We also learned a lot of bonus strategies. He walks beside us on his leash without pulling, and he and my husband love to practice his obedience. We're no longer afraid we'll lose him, and the price was well worth it hoping we'll get at least 10 years with a great dog.

We cannot thank Ashley enough for her patience (with us and Monty) and her flexibility. She emailed us notes after every session and was great with our guests. Monty is really going to miss seeing his friend every day...even though he was super cranky when he first met her. She even jumped in her car and helped his dad chase him down after he escaped the backyard (our fault, not hers)! More...

Our dog Samson was a source of a lot of anxiety for my wife and I but ultimately we decided we needed help with his behavior prior to bringing our first child home.

Erica was our trainer, and we could not have been more pleased with the entire process. Samson went from uncontrollably barking at any guest coming to the door and being highly reactive to touch to being obedient and genuinely excited for guests to come over.

Not only have we been successful with integrating dog and baby, now we can have guests over anxiety free and feel empowered to help our dog be successful with new changes as they come our way. Honestly, this outcome exceeded our highest expectations.

Throughout the entire process Erica approached our family and seemingly difficult dog with a fantastic attitude and was extremely flexible and understanding with our busy schedule.

Our only regret is now that our training is over Samson doesn't get to look forward to his new favorite person coming to the house for training, which is a true testament to how far he's come. We are so thankful for them and Erica and the company Beyond the Dog come with our highest recommendation. More...
