Great New Year’s Day menu with plenty of vegetarian options - papardelli ai fungi, cheese agnolotti in a beautiful cream sauce. Woodford reserve is our favorite bourbon, so we were quite pleased it was the default for the new old fashioned. We would have liked one of those great dark cherries, tho. My husband and I spent Thanksgiving dinner there and without a doubt, THE best turkey dinner we have ever had!  The butternut squash bisque was to die for!  The stuffing had an unusual mix of Italian sausage in the bread mixture and ever so moist.  Everything was top notch and the pumpkin pie, oh my.....Wonder what he's going to do for upcoming holidays. Absolutely awesome food!!  We ordered the Mediterranean mule and it was very refreshing and tasting. For dinner we order spaghetti bolognese and it was so good. We ate at Salute on a warm February evening, which allowed us to eat outside.  Our server was outstanding, with well paced service, she recommended a very nice wine.  We had the Veal Saltimbocca, Veal Marsala, and Veal Parm, all were delicious.  We were very pleased with this restaurant and the dining experience.The three meals with two glasses of wine and one beer came to $104, a great price for this pleasing meal. In town on business and was given a recommendation from the bartender at the Westin. The recommendation was for the Sea-bass but I'm a linguini and clams fan. Long storytelling short... carpaccio spot on. Atmosphere- located in the heart of Sarasota, Bevardi's has an outdoor seating area that offers both covered and open seating. The patio is trimmed with white string lights, which added an elegance to the dining. We were greeted by a pleasant hostess. A jazz trio was playing and they were wonderful. It enhanced the ambiance tremendously! We did not go inside and can not offer any input in this regard. Service - our server was very friendly and reasonably attentive. We made our reservation on-line, where we were asked to indicate if we were celebrating a special occasion. We were, in fact, celebrating my wife's birthday and had noted this. Our server was made aware of this and made a point of recognizing it.Food - excellent. I had the Buffalo Mozzarella app (not the salad dish) to start and it was ample and very good. My wife had a Caesar salad. We both ordered a veal dish and shared a side of pasta (the entree included potatoes and vegetables and prefer pasta as the side). I had veal marsala. The portion was more than ample. The sauce was delicious and the veal was fork tender. My wife enjoyed her entree very much too.Overall - excellent! The price, including a bottle of wine ($45) was $130, which we were happy to pay. The only thing that prevents me from assigning a 5 star rating is that, despite the fact that both the hostess and the server were aware of the occasion that we were celebrating, there was no offer of a token of celebration (small dessert, after dinner drink, etc). After all, why ask patrons if there are celebrating an occasion, recognize this in a comment to us and yet offer absolutely nothing in the way of a treat Anything small would have made the experience as perfect as possible and deserving of 5 stars. I am a huge fan of Italian restaurants, but often they fail to please.    It is NOT the case here.   We had a reservation on a Thursday night, which turns out is a night they have a jazz trio.   We chose a table outside and could hear the music perfectly, which absolutely enhanced our dining experience.Our server took his time with us so we were not rushed.   We ordered a bottle of our favorite wine and then I started with a Caesar salad.  The salad is HUGE, and way more than I needed, but it was so good I couldn't stop eating it.   I then ordered the veal saltimboca.   First, I loved that we weren't rushed, and second, that my food came out piping hot.   My veal was so tender and tasty and was a good choice.  We had ordered a side of pasta to share, which was a penne in marinara, and I loved that too.The outside atmosphere was perfect, the entertainment superb, the food was excellent and service non intrusive.   Can't ask for anything more from a restaurant. I don't think I've ever written a review about a restaurant after only one visit, but our first visit here was so good that I decided to break that "rule". We had tried (to no avail) to get into one of our favorite downtown Sarasota places to eat, and walked down Main Street looking for options.  Mattison's was just too noisy.  We stopped next door and were reviewing the menu at Salute! when the hostess walked out and greeted us.  Frankly, it looked like the restaurant was closed, but that was deceptive due to the extensive size of the place.  She showed us the inside dining options and we chose to eat in the "Wine Room", a lovely brick and bottle lined room with six tables.  Our server, Natalia was appropriately attentive and made the specials sound so appetizing that we chose the Burrata Mozzarella / Melon / Prosciutto appetizer and the Seafood Risotto entree -- both to share.  All that with a nice bottle of Chardonnay from their wine list and we were in culinary heaven.We spend half a year in the Bradenton/Sarasota area and the other half in Northern New Jersey.  This is the first Italian Ristorante in Florida that gave our NJ options a run for their money.  We will surely be back! I ordered the porcini mushroom risotto, and it was excellent! Plenty of gluten-free options as well. One of the dishes we ordered was slightly undercooked, and both our waitress and the owner were very accommodating and sent out a new dish, and also threw in dessert! YUM! You cannot beat the delicious Italian food and decor here (lights all around the outside and great live music on the weekends) . My pasta was excellent - filled with ricotta and mozzarella. The burrata cheese appetizer with prosciutto was marvelous. The bread and olive oil was tasty. The tiramisu was divine. The server we had was world-class.They have an early-bird special with a 3-course meal for around $20. Not bad! Wine bottles are fairly priced and enjoyable. My husband and I wandered into Salute! On a Friday evening, just as the sun was beginning to set. We were immediately seated on the patio, and the heaters were lit as the sun dropped, taking the temperature with it. It was Thunder By the Bay, so there were a lot of loud motorcycles, and people smoking, which was not in Salute's control. Even so, the ambience was delightful. I can only imagine how nice it would be without the motorcycles and smoke! We were serenaded by Georgie and her partner on guitars. She sounds a bit like Stevie Nicks. We were completely enchanted and entertained. Our meals were perfect - we both had Marsala dinners. We had a portobello Bruchetta that was delicious. This place was fantastic. We were looking for good food, younger crowd, and outdoor seating. This place did not disappoint. The patio out front was wide yet cozy. Full bar and robust wine list. What an amazing dinner we had at Salute to celebrate our son's birthday. We are not from the area but our son is attending IMG Academy. We googled best Italian restaurants in Sarasota and even called the Ritz and asked the concierge for recommendations. I decided on Salute based on the menu and recommendation. My husband and I brought our son and three of his friends. We first were greeted by our enthusiastic and knowledgeable waiter. Then we decided to get started with a bunch of appetizers - calamari, sausage, mussels (unbelievable), buffalo mozzarella, Cesar salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. Then we ordered our entrees...linguine with white clam (the BEST says my husband who orders this everywhere), veal bolognese, chicken parm, 48 oz porterhouse steak (tender and melts in your mouth). This was the best meal from start to finish. We were so impressed that I had to write a review. Salute is definitely our new "go to" restaurant every time we visit our son. Having owned a Tuscan restaurant in the Bay Area and currently living in a gastronomical hub  in Minneapolis I have to say I have high expectations for restaurants. ......we stumbled upon Salute! consequent to friends suggesting my boyfriend and I have dinner there when we were in Sarasota. We were very much impressed by everything from the outdoor seating area made magical with all the tiny lights and candles, to the friendly staff (seemed to have a high percentage of 1st generation Europeans), to the amazing food, to the lovely couple who run this gem!  We will definitely return! From start to finish, this was a wonderful dining experience. The night air was just starting to cool when we arrived and I wasn't appropriately dressed for dining al fresco. The host sat us in a relatively sheltered spot and said he would bring a heater over if I got too cool as the sun set. We ordered from the 3-course early bird menu (appetizer, entree, dessert for $21.95). Fresh calamari, and a caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and unusually delicious tomatoes for February. About halfway through appetizers, the host wheeled over a heater, without my asking and before I started shivering. Entrees were chicken parmigiano with penne, and papardelle in mushroom sauce. Both were hot, fresh, and delicious, in portions that were satisfying without being either skimpy or leftover-worthy. Dessert was perfectly portioned tiramisu and a waiter-suggested combo of orange sorbet with vanilla ice cream. I also ordered coffee. The waiter said he was brewing a fresh pot, as the noticed the other was "not aweaome"! Indeed, a few minutes later, an "awesome", personal pot of coffee arrived! Overall the service was attentive without being intrusive, nothing forgotten, nothing 'wrong.' The food was delicious and a great value. We were looking for a place to celebrate my friend birthday and all the restaurants we called didn't have tables until late night (it was 5pm), so we drove downtown, parked and walk one block when we saw this place, the menu look interesting and they had plenty of tables available. So we stay and I'm glad we did!They have a high end service, good wine list with adequate prices and large selection that range from Italy (mainly), France, Spain, Napa, to Australia and South Africa! Great service, great ambience. Really wish we could have sat outside but it was too humid to enjoy. Bread with oil was very good. We were a party of 5, 3 of them were over 80 so an early dinner it was Some of us ordered off the price fixe menu.   Calamari was fried perfect,  caprese salad, house made mozzarella was delish and soft, mixed salad dressed perfect.  Choices of entrees were very nice mix.  Grouper, veal parm, pappardelle and mushroom pasta were our choices. My fiancé and I came here on vacation to celebrate our recent engagement. We love Italian food but rarely get to experience a great Italian meal and boy was this everything we were hoping! We had the buffalo mozzerella appetizer, and shared the penne with prosciutto and vodka sauce, and dover sole entrees. We were not disappointed! Plus our server went the extra mile to split our entrees without us asking. We got all of our food and multiple rounds of drinks almost immediately.
