Girlfriend picked these up around 5:30pm. Wasn't much left available at the time and it's small. We got 3 fruit tarts and they are delicious. The crust was crumbly and the fruits were fresh. I wish there was more custard as it was light and not too sweet. Overall a good pastry 7/10. More...

This is a little gem of the French cuisine in Prospect Highs . Everything without exception just plain delicious! The only complaint that I have about this place that I have is that they getting closed at 7 PM. You will not be disappointed by stopping by there and getting anything from them. More...

The pastries are great. Really delicious. I wish that they'd update the vibe a bit though. From the street this place is truly unremarkable and the layout inside is pretty bad. But they definitely deliver on the pastries. A French friend of mine said it was like being at home. More...

Um-m-m... The best carrot cake I've tried I found here. I love their creme brulle, macaroons and all other pastries, croissants and artisans bread with olive. I love their staff to. Every day smile to the customers is not easy. To remember somebody's favorite type of coffee - great job! More...

I've lived in the neighborhood for about two years at this point. There's been a fair amount of staff turnover but they've all been very friendly, and this is my go-to spot when I don't want to go to far out of my way. It's right next to the Clinton-Washington subway stop, and their coffee is delicious. I love their macaroons and their signature breakfast sandwich. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait but that's just the nature of visiting a tiny shop like there's, but it's definitely a spot I recommend to friends in the area. More...

This place kills me!!! Their chocolate almond croissant is by far the most incredible croissant I've had in NYC (I've done my research too, bien cuit you've been trumped! ) they're baked incredibly fresh - I know people tend to always say that about bakery spots, but I will be there constantly and they will either have just dropped in a fresh, warm and flaky bunch or, I'll have just missed the last round in which I determinedly will wait then for the next ones to arrive. Always worth the wait. On another note, it's a small spot only a few counter serve areas to sit, enough space to sit but not really work for extended period. Other items on the menu are nice but the croissants are the real lure to this spot. More...

I'm torn between giving Beny's three or four stars but I'm just going to go for the four because I love their croissants so much! I love coming into Beny's for a quick snack before work and as small as the place is, I've never had trouble getting a seat. It's super cozy, and the music is always relaxing and fun. My favorite things here are the decor, their croissants (both plain and chocolate!) and their coffee. Aside from that, not much else is worth their prices for my taste. The times I've tried their macarons they just didn't taste fresh. Also, could be that the cashier gave me the wrong flavor but if not, some of them do not have the flavor that is advertised. Another thing is their fruit tarts. They look sooo good and they should be delicious but they have this very distinct taste that I can't get past, the best way I can describe it is, they taste like they've been in the fridge too long, and this has been the case with every flavor I've tried (banana-chocolate, lemon, berry and apple). Again, they are delicious, but just don't taste very fresh. I have also tried their quiches, which are definitely delicious but also have this stale "fridge" taste. As for the service, they have very friendly people behind the counter but most of the times that I've walked in, there's no one there. Oftentimes, the staff is in the back and when they are, you have to wait a few minutes for anyone to come out front and realize they have customers. Not always ideal for a quick cup of coffee before work when I want to be in and out.I will continue going to Beny's for their AMAZING croissants, their coffee, and friendly staff members but unfortunately, wouldn't recommend much else. My boyfriend and I are obsessed with their croissant with goat cheese and raspberry marmalade. FREAKING FANTASTIC! That's the only thing we've tried there so it's difficult to rate the place overall but we are happy with that one particular pastry. The staff are always nice, the place is clean and the rest of the pastries on display look beautiful. I'll report back on the rest of the pastries if I ever put the croissant down. More...
