I’ve been seeing Dr Scott for about 6 months now and am very impressed with his methods for helping heal. Like many, I was apprehensive about seeking mental health and what the experience would be like. Dr Scott is a very kind person that is easy to talk to and genuinely cares about his patients. One of the things I like best is that he teaches you various techniques that you can implement on your own outside of the sessions. This becomes super helpful for those hard days at work or other unexpected life events. More...

Both Dr. Scott and Judith are absolutely wonderful to work with! They are so very caring and have really great tools to help you work through problems. Working with Basic Steps has been my first in depth experience with mental health professionals and I am so incredibly happy to have decided to work with this group. I have experienced so much personal growth and have gained a deeper understanding of myself and how to best handle different situations. More...

Dr. Scott sets himself apart from everyone else I know. He focuses on spiritual psychology, and works on healing issues at the root to resolve trauma. This is opposed to the pill-pushing band-aid approach most psychologists take, which I highly approve of.If you want help to heal, I highly recommend Dr. Scott. More...

The spiritual psychology approach is one that encompasses the whole person and is aimed at healing the primary wounds that often keep us in a cycle of mental, emotional, and behavioral patterns that are both painful and keep us from our joy. Dr. Scott is a great person and will help you to do a deep dive into the core problems so that you can begin to heal them and live your life as your authentic self. More...

Basic Steps Mental Health walked alongside my family member's journey towards mental wellness with a compassionate and extremely personalized approach. When we first began seeking the right therapy, we were astounded at the lack of resources available for his situation. Dr. Scott and his team definitely work from a person-centered perspective, accepting my loved one right where he was at so he could accept himself and begin the real process of change. Thank you for being that non-traditional and authentic voice and for all the loving care you have breathed into our lives. More...

At one point in my tumultuous life I was diagnosed as a stage four drug addict with little or no hope for recovery. In seeking relief from this affliction, I put myself into various treatment centers five or six times.

Q&As

I love sharing the knowledge that I have gained. It is gratifying to see people enter therapy defeated and leave triumphant!

When I entered the mental health field in 1994 at a 12 Step facility, I couldn't believe how much relapse and hopelessness I found. I knew that there must be some solution to the tragedy I was seeing. Therefore, I continued my education to treat people more effectively. When I worked for organizations, the change there was slow. People got comfortable with doing business in the same manner and of course, they got the same results. That is why I opened my own clinic. I am always adjusting and adding new Psychological tools without the bureaucracy to provide, state-of-the-art treatment.

I have treated over 7,000 people in my 25 years in the industry. A majority of my work was at the first mental health urgent care center in the United States where I treated people in crisis. I and my staff are very compassionate and we seek to understand before being understood. We treat the whole person: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. If you only focus on improving physically, the underlying mental and emotional wounds would cause imbalance. Treating the whole person gives the best odds for issue resolution. Lastly we honestly care.
