It always feels so uncomfortable to have these head shots taken, but Barry made me feel at ease immediately, which made the pictures look more natural. Barry is an awesome photographer!! He is so great at bringing out the best in his clients to get an absolutely wonderful picture that captures the essence of a person. I am usually very camera-shy, and quite uncomfortable getting my photograph taken, let alone having to pose for one in a manner that is fit for professional use. Barry was great at making me feel at ease, right from the the pre-photoshoot phone call all the way through the actual photo session. He took his time to take the photos, have me check out the results at a monitor set up right next to the photoshoot area, and made adjustments for poses and expressions on the fly to improve the photos even more. In the end, he got me a good number of photos of me with a natural, relaxed, but professional look - so many, in fact, I had a hard time choosing! :)Barry's e-mail responses were quick, whether it was for scheduling, questions, or recommendations for photos. The turnaround time for the photos was also fast. I also enjoyed the platform he used to send me the pictures to help me choose - it was nice to be able to select some of my 'favorites' and send them to family to help with decision making. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
There's not any one secret - in the case of headshot photography, it's a combination of lighting, posing, composition, background, and most important expression. I work with my clients to coach them before and during the session to give them a great image that shows confidence with approachability.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Who is the audience that will be viewing the images? What message do you want to convey? Where will the image(s) be shown? What is your "brand"?

What inspired you to start your own business?
I've been shooting since high school, and have done paid work part time over the years. Enough people have told me that I should turn pro full time and finally decided to take the plunge.
Why should our clients choose you?
They're looking for images that look natural yet professional. Many of my clients have had poor experiences with other photographers - all my engagements start with a consultation prior to the session to discuss goals and objectives, who the audience is that will be viewing the images, and what message(s) they want the image to convey. We then discuss things such as clothing, hair, makeup (if applicable), jewelry, background color, lighting, etc.. we'll use for the session. During the session, I shoot "tethered" which allows us to view the images as the session progresses, making adjustments as we progress to get the best images possible - you'll leave the session knowing you have a number of great images to choose from. The best images of the session are then posted on a secure website where you can view them, share with others, and select your favorite(s). I can provide professional retouching as needed, along with hair/makup artists for the session.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Individual sessions are held in my garage with an open door. I wear a mask and we maintain more than 6' social distance. Clients can review images on a computer monitor located near where they are posing.

Updates to Your Team
New hires, promotions – change happens all the time. And no doubt you’ll want to update your website with new photos. But they need to have the same look and feel. Problem solved – have the new person come to my studio – I will use the same lighting/background setup that I used when I was onsite.
