My husband and I visit this place often for date nights. They have amazing burgers and good fries. They're service is a little slow but they're menu is vast, something for everyone. They even have pork chops which is pretty hard to find unless you're at a steakhouse. I wouldn't try the chicken wings, not they're best feature. The food is excellent,  the atmosphere is very cool.  This is a definitely a place to try.  The smoked Pastrami is perfect and tender,  and the hot pickel jelly with the hushpuppies is addictive!

Wanted to really enjoy the food here since the atmosphere was great, drink menu was amazing, and service was good. All the others at the table loved their food, but the Chicken pot pie was more onion then any chicken. The onion was a white onion that just over powered the rest of the other favors. So I tried this place a second time and was highly impressed. I had the cave man bowl and it did not disappoint. My wife has the fish tacos and they where also suburb. We also had the crab cakes and they where very good. Service was spot on and they had a really nice outside patio section. Every place deserves a second chance and Barrel House is def now a place I would visit again. This place is awesome! Hospitable and some really great specials on a daily basis. A tremendous selection of whiskey as well and pretty fair prices with most cocktails under $10. 00. It has great seating outside as well. I often come here before I catch the train and they have plugs at the bar for your phone.I do miss the very friendly and gregarious dishwasher known around town as Crackhead Frank. He was so full of stories and even though he is hard to understand he brought a certain life to the place. Came in with my father on a surprisingly quiet Saturday evening.  Our waitress was personable and helpful.  We started out with a pretzel, which was gigantic.  I enjoyed my cheeseburger which I topped with an egg, and my father had a bowl of chili which he commented was spicy but good.  Drink options were decent - some unique local brews on tap, which we enjoyed.  Ballgame was on, which we appreciated as well.  Good location, nice decor, friendly service.  I'd return. The Ranchero Burger was a flavor explosion, and I should have checked you out long ago, my parents and I enjoyed the Elotes, and the Three Dips with the homemade chips and Crudite were amazing, and that is the first time I have had French Onion Dip on as an Appetizer and it was Outstanding. Was in from out of town and really enjoyed Barrel House. Great beer and liquor selections. Food was excellent (I had the veggie burger) and the hostess changed the channel for us so we could watch a hockey game that didn't involve Chicago. Great atmosphere!

Great place - I've only have eaten there twice - was pretty hammered - unsure if I had the French onion soup / white turkey chili - also had the pretzel - I usually stop there twice a month & get hammered! Was only there once after 8pm on Friday - place was jumping - great staff - very friendly - they have a queen of hearts raffle every Tuesday 8pm - but I'm usually in bed by then - especially if I get the 3:19 from union station- I'll get in there by 4 & usually lit up by 7 ! & in bed by 8 ! I would definitely recommend this place - I'm sure the out door beer garden is open by now ! I'll have to check it out & will probably get hammered out there to ! Great digital juke box also !!! Really enjoy Barrel house! My wife and I had a delayed METRA train one night, so we figured we would pass the time with a drink or two in the bar. The draft menu was great, and we were really happy to see that they were supporting the local community with a fundraiser raffle event going on. Saw a social media ad on eventbrite for Easter Brunch. Little hesitant about pitching a gastropub to my mother but they did an amazing job.  The staff was all bought in and had a great attitude.  Great spread (chilaquiles for Easter). So I'll still give them 4 stars because the food is good but another disappointing visit....we were there last Friday & we saw our waitress 3 times before we ordered, I ordered the fish tacos & she said oh we're out of those. I said okkkk are u out of anything else & she said no, now wouldn't that be one of the first things out of your mouth when you approached us, just so u know we are out of the fish tacos, not 20 minutes after we were there.
