My boyfriend and I have come here for dinner and we love it. This time around we went for brunch. We went on the earlier side since last time we've came it was super crowded. Getting there 11:30a was good timing and the space wasn't as crowded. There was a live band which was a little loud, my boyfriend and i actually moved further towards the end of the bar/bathroom is located to move away from the noise. I personally would prefer music on the speakers than live band but it was a nice perk. The food was great - we've ordered the sliders, French toast and steak + eggs. The food came out good timing and portioned. We've also ordered two pitchers of strawberry mimosas. If you're anything like my boyfriend and i we can drink pretty fast. The pitchers aren't bottomless which was a bummer. We've spent $50 alone on pitchers - which isn't ideal for us. We're going to stick to happy hour and dinner hours but would recommend you check it out! More...

This is now the 4th time I've come here. Obviously I love it if I keep coming back. But I can't give it 5 stars because each and every time I've been there the service always seems to be on the slower side. Today in fact I waited 10 minutes for 2 drinks. The food and atmosphere is great, although I will say that I read on their website that Saturday brunch has live music and that was not the case. Very live ambiance for a weekend brunch. They have a band performing in one corner, which makes it a bit loud for easy conversation. However, if that's the atmosphere you're looking for, you will not be disappointed by brunch at Barracuda.Due to limited seating, you may be seated at the bar if you're in a small party. That said, the service is very quick and the food is really fun and well prepared. The guava crepes (2 for $8, at time of writing) were different and quite tasty. (This is more of a sweet breakfast option, for those who are into that.)Yucca fries are excellent here.Mimosas are fine. Not bottomless here. But a nice variety of flavors, and reasonably priced pitchers. Really solid overall. Don't bring grandma unless she loves loud noise and screaming over music. :p More...

We happened to be walking around downtown New Haven and were not necessarily hungry or looking for anywhere to go. As we walked by this place we saw advertised their $1 oyster deal. Since we weren't hungry but who can say no to $1 oysters? We went in and I ordered a Mojito with a half dozen oysters, in addition we had the yucca nachos with pork belly. Let me just say that we had no idea what to expect with the nachos but we were so glad we ordered them. Now mind you I was about to give this place a 3star review because even though the place was empty it took so long to get our nachos. When the bartender came back with the nachos; she acknowledged that they took so long so she offered to give us a dessert on the house, which obviously we took her up on it and had the churros (great choice). The churros were awesome. They were nice and warm with caramel and a raspberry sauce. It was a nice way to end the night. More...

Excellent food, and great happy hour deals. I love going here for happy hour and getting the $3 beers, $6 Taco and Arepa plates. They are a Latin-American restaurant with their own spin on some Spanish favorites. If you are a fan of traditional Colombian Arepas and chicharron, there's are made a lot differently. The Arepas come in squares and remind me more of polenta. Nonetheless, they are excellent. The service can be a little bit slow, and the non happy hour prices can get expensive, but the food and drinks are quality. More...

Barracuda is located in downtown New Haven. This is a small Latin American Restaurant with a lively atmosphere. They have daily specials and a weekend brunch. I stopped by on a Saturday for brunch. I arrived around 1130, and we were seated promptly. We ordered the ahi tuna sandwich, French toast, and Cajun fries. By far the favorite item was the Cajun fries. They have a delicious season blend. The tuna sandwich was fine but came out a little over cooked. we also enjoyed guava mimosas which were delicious! A carafe is $25 and has approximately 5-6 flutes worth. The only challenges we had were the the loudness of the music playing and a confused server. There was a guitarist playing at a high pitch making conversation tough even though we sat in the back. Also, we asked for specific items with the French toast, and we were informed right as the food came out that our meal wasn't able to be made as requested so we were left to either reorder and wait another 20 minutes or just suffer through it. Not ideal. Parking is free in the lot across the street. More...

Highly recommend getting the lobster quesadilla and NY strip with Chimichurri sauce. I'm definitely curious to try the rest of their menu as the food was on point. To preface this review, I have ONLY come to Barracuda during happy hour. During this time, the HH food and drinks are fantastically priced and well proportioned. Though one thing to look out for is the restaurant is small and during happy hours, the wait can be substantial. Also, there doesn't seem to be enough staff during these times so getting a menu, water, ordering, and receiving your food can be slow. Definitely not a quick meal!+YUCA NACHOS: I usually get these with mushrooms (the pork belly and chicken are both on the dry side). The yuca is nice and crispy with what tastes like taco seasoning, which pairs nicely with sour cream, salsa, and guacamole. +SALCHIPAPAS: Not sure if you can go wrong with loaded french fries but it's delicious nonetheless! The fries are nice and crispy and it's a good amount of toppings.-MUSSELS: It comes in a very large bowl, and the flavor is alright. I'm a big fan of mussels but it's a good for what you pay for.*All these dishes are great for sharing!Yes, the tables are a little wobbly, the service is a little subpar, the space between tables is questionable, but the yumminess of the happy hour food can't be denied. Would definitely return for some yuca nachos! More...
