They trim my cat's nails for $20 (cash discount), saving me a lot of time and hassle! You can tell that the staff there love cats, and give great cat advice and tell me about their own pets. One time they missed one of my cat's nails (understandable, as she is a force during nail trims!) and I was able to bring her in to get it fixed for free. My only complaint is that they seem to only have a cat nail trimmer in-house one or two days a week so scheduling can be difficult. Otherwise, I love everything about this place! Thank you! More...

So I want to rave about this place!  My dogs, Ticket and Cooper, just got the best grooming they have ever had!  They are older (12 and 10) and one had eye issues . . despite that, they came home looking like puppies and people stop us on the street!  I can not tell you great their hair cuts are!  I wish they were not sleeping right now so I can show you a photo .. but they look fantastic!  Thank you Bark Place! Not only does this place offer fair pricing (by Manhattan standards, mind you!), but they have some of the best groomers in the country.  I have 3 small dogs, one of whom is almost 16 and now blind.  Diana grooms him and she does a fantastic job.  She is patient, meticulous and caring.  Even though he is an old dog, he looks about ten years younger when she finishes grooming him.  I am truly grateful for her and love how well this place is run.  I especially appreciate how careful and vigilant they were during the pandemic.  I cannot imagine ever taking my dogs anyplace else.  They really care about every single detail. It was my puppy's first grooming (8 months old, pretty agitated) and they were wonderful! They did not shave her and left her a little fluffy as I requested: the groomer has been awesome! Unfortunately I don't know her name so I cannot mention it but I feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful and caring place for my little Hazel! More...

Would not recommend to anyone! Took my golden doodle there 3-4 times and every time she was not groomed to my liking I even fully explained how I wanted her groomed . They are rude and arrogant. this last time they shaved her to almost her skin without my consent  and I was told they were going to use a longer blade and then they sent her back to me half shaved and refused to finish! This is in acceptable!! More...

Do NOT use Bark Place for dog grooming.  I had been going there for 5 years with pictures of how I want my dog groomed.  Look at the horrible cut/grooming! !   See  below the before and after photos. An offer to refund the money is so unaccepatable when it will take months before her fur grows back.  Look at all the other disappointed customers with their photos.  Are you even licensed or certified as groomers, and I bet your people that do the grooming are not very experienced.  I'd love to know how you vet and reference the people that work for you. Bark Place used to be pretty decent neighborhood grooming shop. Unfortunately, under a new management the business has been going downhill in the past years. Very unprofessional services combined with poorest management prompted this review.See images of my Cavalier King Charles before & after the groom.Few details: Upon meeting a new groomer (there seem to be a constant turnaround of people working at Bark Place, therefore you will see new staff every time you come for services), I gave very precise instructions requesting a breed appropriate hair style; I asked not to shave my dog, not to do a puppy cut, not to shorten his ears, etc.In the past groom for my dog at Bark place took about 2 hours. 4 hours later (still no call for a pick up) I went to the shop to check if my dog was ok... frankly at that point I was a bit nervous as there are accidents at grooming shops.Upon arrival I spotted two ladies chopping my dog's hair in a hurry'... literally butchering! My cavalier had NO ears left (!), his skirt was uneven, as were the paws; poor dog no longer looked like a cavalier.... The haircut remotely resembled 'a sloppy cocker spaniel cut with truncated ears'... Examining my pup at home I noticed a large neck area lesion which might be explaining a 4-hour-long appointment.I emailed the store 'before and after' pictures of my deformed and injured dog.We paid $373.00 for getting the wound cleaned out and stitched. It will take few YEARS for ears to grow back and they might never look the same. Business haven't commented on the injury our dog sustained nor offered to cover our injury related expenses. More...

Just ok. Took my dog in for a bath and she came out shedding heavily with dirty ears and jagged nails. Store was dirty. Not very friendly, and scolded me for entering the store because they didn't have a dog on a leash. ‍ Putting dogs on a leash seems like a reasonable expectation. Won't be returning. More...

I took my puppy here for a first puppy cut which as defined by the business itself includes limited cutting and merely clean up as their first experience with grooming. Firstly, I very specifically discussed what I did and did not want done during the grooming making it very clear I wanted limited cutting. I go to pick up the dog and find she did the exact opposite of what I requested and discussed with her. I was also greeted by the groomer with the comment, "I am behind and busy today as I had someone call out". As noted by other negative reviews, the dog washer was rude and very abrupt with my puppy when she did take her from me.  I could not have had a worse experience nor could my puppy for her first grooming. The unprofessionalness of the staff and groomer in the 1st Avenue location is completely disappointing. After this experience, I will not return to this business and would highly caution anyone with a puppy and any type of specific requirements to stay away from this groomer and the business overall as they clearly do not keep the customer requests in mind. Very disappointing . More...

Absolute disaster. I brought my goldendoodle puppy (who admittedly had mats) for his first real grooming (after having had a puppy grooming a few weeks earlier which they did not address the mats at). I informed the staff he had a few mats and asked that they cut them out but leave the rest of his fur long as he has had some digestive issues and has struggled to gain weight so we'd prefer to keep him fluffy until he fills out a little more. They said that was fine and I showed a specific picture of the way I wanted his face cut which they also said was fine. Halfway through I get a call saying they would need to shave him because of his mats - fine I said, I understand his comfort is top importance and fur will grow back, but please try to keep it as long as possible and please cut his face the way I requested. They agreed that was doable. I go to pick him up and and he's shaved to the skin (except a very long fluffy tail which looks ridiculous) and the shave was very patchy with chunks much longer than the rest. And his face looks absolutely nothing like the photo they agreed to. I understand he was matted and admittedly could have done more to prevent the mats, but my frustration and disappointment was the lack of expectation setting and honesty. They saw and felt his fur while I was there and said nothing to contradict my request. And again on the phone promised they would at least cut his face the way I requested (which ironically was a shorter style than what they actually did). I did not even comment on the patchiness of the body, I know he was matted so I understand it had to be done. When I expressed my disappointment with his face not being done the way I asked, they rudely told me I should do a better job of taking care of his fur... I have brought him regularly for puppy cuts and specifically asked for dematting last time and clearly that was not done. Not sure why they felt the need to criticize a customer when the thing they were expressing concern over (his face hair being too long) was not even related... I am truly disappointed and will not return. More...
