Definitely will be back. Service was great and very friendly! The food was fantastic. I did not take any pictures this time around. I had the gumbo ya-ya to start and the etoufee with shrimp and the complimentary chicken breast; also with a side of collard greens. Really really good!! I was not able to finish the entire meal as the portion was hefty. My honey had the French onion soup, and the rosé chicken fettuccine and he says they were really tasty as well. The atmosphere was relaxed. TV's over the bar so you can watch whoever is playing at the time. This is such a cute place and I can't wait to go back and try more!! More...

Dinner was off to a nice start with a Sazerac and husband had craft beer on tap. Sazerac was a little sweet, but that was fine tonight. Highlights were the Chefs gumbo, wings, and fried oysters. As a native Louisianian who was very skeptical, the flavor and portions of food exceeded my expectations. It has been hard to find authentic Creole or Southern food since I arrived in Maryland in 2015. We ate at Creole de Graw and loved it. We were nearby for work and are always on the look out for good Cajun food. This did not disappoint. My husband orders the Jambalaya with chicken and it was great! I ordered the REd Bean and Rice, I couldn't make up my mind as to the protein to add so our waiter suggested the medley and boy was that a good decision. Perfect date! The bartender Matt was attentive and on point. We arrived during their happy hour specials and enjoyed excellent wings, scrumptious crab cakes on top of fried green tomatoes and their famous shrimp and grits. Definitely will return.

Terrific food!! The appetizers are delicious, especially the shrimp & grits. I had the stuffed salmon with collard greens & veggie medley. Salmon was cooked perfectly, not dry, but nice & juicy, topped with crabmeat with a slight bite, just perfect. My husband got the short ribs & he said they melted in his mouth, nice & thick with a great taste, along with mashed potatoes. The atmosphere was cozy but classy, clean as a whistle & decor was nice. Worth a stop! I sat at the comfy bar, and Mike (the very pleasant and personable bartender) answered my many questions about the area, caught me up on all my favorite college and NFL teams' standings and prospects! What a great vacation find! Our chef was Tom, and really knew his craft! Honestly the best crab cakes I've ever tasted! They were just so flavorful, without setting your mouth on fire. I wanted everything Matthew mentioned, then we asked for the hand breaded oysters, fresh fish du jour, and the chef's fettuccini. All were delicious, cooked and baked to perfection. Me and my mother came in to this establishment to eat lunch. We were Ina rush and had explained this to Kelly our waitress she made sure everything was absolutely perfect! She was so polite and made sure we were in and out in under an hour we ordered jumbalyay and red beans and rice they were both so fresh with great seasoning. Was feenin for New Orleans cuisine and Backfin Blues did not disappoint. Hubby and I drove over 103 miles to get here but it was well worth it. We had their De Graw dip to start. It had tons of crab and crawfish all smothered in a delicious cheesy dip sauce. We came for New Orleans cuisine but could not get past how good their crab cake was executed. It was all backfin crab and only had a smidgen of breading to coat the outside. And I normally do not fish over veggies but the veggie of the day, zucchini and onions could have stood on its own as a stand alone entree. This was a date night for the books! This place is tucked away in at peaceful and quaint area of Havre De Grace and they even have their own parking lot! The food makes this place a walk away from New Orleans. I don't know if it is the longevity of the restaurant itself seeing its been there since i wanna say the 1880s or just the great authentic flavors. The crab cakes were out of this world. The cocktails were cold and strong! thew staff were a bit shady but the entire neighborhood was kind of sketchy after we got there. No reason why just may be we were out of out element.
