About

Hi there. I’m Liz and I’ve been running B4 Fitness & Lifestyle Coaching since 2012. In that time I have continued to evolve my approach to health and fitness coaching.

In 1993, I lost over 120 pounds and have kept it off. Shortly after my weight loss success, I made a life changing decision to give up a successful career in corporate banking and dedicate my life to helping others successfully adopt and maintain an active healthy lifestyle.

I have been doing personal training with Liz twice a week for 5 months. Her classes are fun (and intense!) but having a personal appointment commitment was what I needed. I have lost significant weight (although I have learned it's not about the number on the scale!) gotten much stronger and have better balance. I love her app where I can view videos of "my" exercises I can do on my own or at a gym.As far as I can tell, the difference between her and other trainers is that she is INVESTED in her clients. This is what I see other trainers doing: "...eight, nine, ten, good." That's about it. Liz on the other hand is my cheerleader, my coach, my "sponsor" if I am having a weak moment. She is always available by text or phone to check in or give a pep talk if I am struggling. She has had her own weight loss journey and freely shares her struggle as well. She knows that training people with a lot of weight to lose is different from training those who do not.She addresses not only exercise but nutrition and anything else that might be affecting you. She is a wealth of information. She knows a lot about nutrition, but was able to refer me to a nutritionist that was light years above the one I was seeing. She has also made me into a burgeoning runner. I never thought I could run with my bad knees, but she taught me the way to do it without placing extra stress on your joints. I am especially grateful for this because that is a tool I have in my arsenal that I can do anywhere, any time. Most of all she has helped me learn the type of changes and commitments that are necessary for sustained weight loss. We all want to lose weight, some of us very badly, but that is not the same as wanting to work out every day and really being able to say to yourself, Is this food going to help me reach my goal? If not, it can be in your face, but you don't want it. She has gotten me to that point. As I reduce my personal training to one day a week while I transition to being on my own, I know I have the tools, knowledge and the more elusive "fire within" to complete my own journey. Best workout I've had so far today, thanks to some targeted advice I received from Liz during our one on one fitness consultation this past weekend. I've enjoyed the challenge of this team's fitness bootcamp for several weeks now, and the one on one consultation helped me pull together more of the science behind what I need to improve my performance. I love the small class size, the positive environment with all ages, sizes, abilities and fitness levels. If you're new to exercise, training for a specific event, or looking to improve your overall health, join in! More...

I have been working with Liz with B4 Fitness and Lifestyle Coaching for over 2.5 years now. I meet with her every 2 weeks for one on one personal training and she has been such a blessing in my weight loss journey. She pushes me harder than I could ever push myself and each time I walk away, I feel 100% better. She always makes me feel positive about myself and ensures that any negative self talk is stopped immediately. I am thankful to her for being a part of about a 100 lb weight loss and 60 inches lost, but she never takes any of the credit. She makes sure that I know that the work that has been done is a result of my hard work and continued success is also my responsibility. The journey and goals change along they way and she is there to help reshape those goals and help you work toward what you are really looking for with a healthier you. More...

Q&As

I start with discovering what is important to each client. People who invest in a personal trainer or a health coach usually have more desired outcomes than just achieving a number on the scale. Usually, what is important to most of us are the quality of life improvement goals that result from executing healthier daily behaviors. For example, if my client would like to reduce their medications, they value their health. Helping align their lifestyle changes with what they value helps to increase motivation. Long term behavior change is only achieved when we recognize that lifestyle changes put us in alignment with what we value. In addition I help each of my clients find their safest, best path to achieving a healthier lifestyle to help them increase their confidence over time.

I don't even like this question. For me and for my client's it is not about getting the body of your dreams, it is about achieving the best health and quality of life you can achieve regardless of your age, size or ability.

I love helping my clients realize that even a small amount of commitment to change can lead to big improvements in overall quality of life. I love helping them reach past where they thought that they could. I love celebrating their successes with them! I absolutely love the friendships I have made over the years. My life has been incredibly enriched through the relationships I have made.

In 1993, I lost over 120 pounds and have kept it off. Shortly after my weight loss success, I made a life changing decision to give up a successful career in corporate banking and dedicate my life to helping others successfully adopt and maintain an active healthy lifestyle. I spent 10 years working for a large, regional wellness center where I ran the weight loss program and other wellness programs, was a personal trainer and taught group exercise classes. In 2009 a bariatric surgeon saw my weight loss story and hired me to help him motivate his patients to exercise as a necessary part of the weight loss surgery journey. For 3.5 years I worked in the medical office as part of the medical team coordinating patient care with the surgeon, the RD, the psychologist, the bariatric nurse coordinator and other medical professionals in the hospital. My job was to help each patient find their best path to increasing physical activity and to keep them motivated. After 3.5 years, this surgeon left the practice and I decided to go out on my own to reach out to all of the regional bariatric centers to offer exercise support. I have developed relationships with 6 area programs. I provide education and support to these programs. I also recently published a book (available on Amazon) called Getting Physcial-The Bariatric Guide to Exercise and Activity.

My clients get a person who is totally committed and invested in their success. I have the unique combination of years of experience combined with working in the medical community as well as my own personal journey.
