I would give zero stars if I could. My frustration lies, not with the psychologists of this practice, but rather their policies.

I awoke the morning of my scheduled appointment with no voice. Reached out to my therapist to reschedule. I later received an email from Angela saying I was charged $125 for a No-Show fee.

Even after explaining the situation Angela replied saying it was not a No-Show fee I was charged, but a Late Cancellation fee for not canceling 24 hours in advance. She declined to return the fee.

How could I possibly have known in advance of waking that day that I would be without a voice?

I've been to other clinics which take these circumstances into account. Angela decided to take a hard line with me where none was needed. I've never no-showed to an appointment and have made every attempt to reschedule in advance whenever possible.

This situation has caused me to lose faith in this practice, which seems to value policy over people. Beware!

It can be stuffy sometimes during the summer but they provide portable fan. They have coffee and tea and cold water. There are two separate buildings on the location and they aren't next to each other. The facility is clean and welcoming but might depend on personal taste. More...

This is the best mindfulness center in Austin, TX. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone and everyone. I miss being able to attend their awesome events and visit with their amazing staff ever since I've moved out of state.

I found the Intro to Mindfulness course to have been more than worth my investment, providing me with a foundation for developing daily mindfulness habits that can in turn give me the anchor I needed to stay present and observant in the face of adversity.  In fact, two subtle yet profound lessons stood out for me:One was learning of the pitfalls of getting hooked on a thought, specifically when it comes at the expense of focus on the present; the lesson was re: not getting hit with the "second arrow", which was immediately applicable to the sports psychology side of my athletic hobbies, but also applicable to moving forward past slip-ups in my professional lift. The second was a lesson on how to observe the physiological changes tied to an immediate or recalled highly emotional event, and how to use that as a trigger to guard against rash reactions. I know that the mindfulness approach is sound based on the way I've seen others apply its principles to the same situation. To boot, the course offered a range of different ways to enter into a meditative state, several of which I had not been exposed to before.I would take this course again, and would recommend it to friends, family, and professional colleagues alike.Well done!! Finding a therapist is a difficult, idiosyncratic, frustrating enterprise. Everyone's different, and the alchemy between patient and therapist can be unpredictable; usually I feel like that makes a therapist an impossible creature to "review." But the Austin Mindfulness Center's vision is something I really believe in. They've assembled a diverse team of practitioners, each with different skills and perspectives, under the common aegis of mindfulness-based mental health care (if you don't know what that means, check out their website; they have a very concise description there). They're committed to providing thoughtful care that emphasizes compassion, awareness, and connection. Everyone's got their own crap to carry around and learn how to deal with. I'm not about to tell anyone the "best" way to cope; all I can tell you is that mindfulness-based work has been a game changer for my (severe and very painful) anxiety levels. It's not easy work to do, but if you're ready to do it, the Austin Mindfulness Center has your back. More...
