Professionally managed by a group of people who really love their children. Longer-term employees than many other daycares. Smaller than state-mandated ratios in many classes, where possible. More...

I have been very pleased with child care at The Ark.  The directors, Solange and Janet, are loving professionals with a strict eye toward licensing and safety.  I think they manage the center with grace, given the complexity and black-white nature of our state-mandated rules. Almost all of the care providers have been there for many years, which is rare in a daycare, and speaks to the years of professional experience the providers have.  From what I've seen, the children are never left alone to cry or play without supervision.  My son loves all of the providers who have stepped in to help on breaks from his main teacher.  His main teacher truly loves her children - we are so grateful for her wisdom and helping us navigate how we want our son to be cared for.  She listens carefully and tries her best to care for our son how we ask, and she is a great communicator every day with how he is doing.  We receive a monthly newsletter where all the kids are featured and daily videos and photos from several of his teachers. We've been fortunate to receive in-home care from a few of the providers during snow days, so we have help outside of normal hours.  This facility feels like a safe, loving, family-run place with a wealth of experience and I am grateful we found it. The Ark has been the greatest place to send our children.  We have sent both our children to The Ark since they were infants.  The care they receive is the best.  The teachers really care and love the children.  You can tell they love their jobs and are passionate about being early childhood educators.  My son has learned so much in the pre-school program.  It is a great balance between academic and play based learning.  There are also fabulous extra activities - such as soccer, sign language, cooking, and music. The class sizes are great, as the teacher to student ratios are lower than the state limits.  The Ark has truly become my village and family.  I highly recommend it to families looking for high quality care and education for their little ones. We are so lucky to have found The Ark. They have been an extremely important part of our children's growth, and we have been sending our children there for about 3. 5 years now (our oldest is 4.5 yrs and youngest is 2 yrs old). The teachers there are loving, caring, patient and extremely knowledgeable in early child development, which provides a pieces of mind since both my husband and I have very demanding jobs in the tech industry. Before our first child was born, I did extensive research/homework on child daycare on the east side (Bright Horizons, Montessori Schools, Private Home Daycare etc, and most have about a 6 mos-1yr wait list). We visited about 10+ different places, none of them impressed us. I was in a panic and hired a nanny for about 4-5 months (which cost over twice than The Ark and was disappointed with her), luckily a friend referred us to The Ark because both of her kids also go there. Since day 1, I knew this was where i felt comfortable leaving my kids everyday, so I can go to work worry free. Seeing how happy our kids (and all the other kids) are while in school and how much they love going is the best testimony a child daycare can have-most kids' are long term with siblings all go there too, and the kids that started going as babies/toddlers are still there. I would highly recommend The Ark to any family who is looking to bring up their children in a loving Christian environment. More...

I just love this center. I've had a lot of interaction with this school over the years. I used to be a teacher 13yrs ago and now my 3yr son goes there. As a teacher, I was treated fairly with good benefits and competitive pay (compared to other centers). All the teachers had a good working relationship with the director. We always had all the tools we needed to make our job effective. The Ark is a non-profit school so all the money goes back into making the school even better. The same goes for today. The teachers bring a wealth of knowledge and share a true love of working with children. They also plan weekly themes and offer a balance of social, emotional, creative, cognitive, and physical growth experiences. They always have age appropriate activities, weather it's art, music, science etc. and even special events like field trips to the farm, science center or kids theaters. They even offer Happy Feet, a mobile soccer clinic for children 2 - 6. My son loves this activity!!! I have read all the reviews posted on this site and most are true. However, I would like to address a couple. The director may seem strict, but that is because she cares so much for the center and the children in it. There are rules and regulations for a reason and they are in place to protect all who are involved. And she's not rich! Again, non-profit school that has a board of directors whom determine how all monies should be spent. And Timsy... What are you talking about More...
