First time trying Afghani food and it was wonderful! Servers were very welcoming and offered suggestions on what to order. They basically just said everything was good but they were not wrong.Ordered one of each of the appetizers and we were not disappointed by any - each had their own flavors and they were really delicious. I don't have pictures except one because we ate everything so fast.Had beef, chicken, lamb, and vegetarian entrees and everyone was happy with their order. I ordered the Mourgh Challow and it was a simple dish but  had a lot of flavor. Had some of the Chopan which was especially great and I am not usually a fan of lamb. Would probably order that next time. More...

I've eaten at Ariana twice recently, and both times I had the same impression: good food, lovely and quiet atmosphere and attentive staff. I liked that there was an extensive vegetarian menu, along with delicious meat dishes. And everything had a distinct and interesting taste. (No feeling that they poured the same sauce over multiple dishes.) I'm sure that the desserts were lovely, but we got too full when we ordered interesting appetizers along with our main courses. Highly recommended. More...

Simply Amazing!  Absolute GO-TO when I want great good and great service. Food, service and atmosphere are TOP NOTCH.  My go-to's on the menu:-  Appetizer:  Kaddo and Aushak (with beef sauce).  Truly tasty and amazing- Entree:  I'm not a fan of lamb but will come here to eat the lamb ANYTIME!  I often order Chopan.  But, if you feel like having beef instead, the Chapendaz is pretty amazing.  Perfectly cooked and seasoned- Dessert:  Feereny.  Light and delicious.  Perfect way to end a meal More...

In the past few years, I've heard that Helmand had sadly gone downhill, and Ariana had moved from its outpost on Brighton Ave. What I had not realized was that Ariana had planted itself on the ground floor of a new construction on the block before Brighton Mills Shopping Center with its McDonald's and Spring Shabu Shabu.  The new space is larger than the old, with a greater depth, and nicely decorated with bright and cheery yellow walls.  It is located directly across from the Shield System Car Wash.  Parking is non-metered street parking only, so read the signs. When it ain't broke, don't fix it...Yeah, I ordered up their Kaddo appetizer $6.95 (pan-fried baby pumpkin seasoned with sugar then baked and topped with ground beef sauce.  Served on garlic yogurt sauce.) to go, and it came in a decent sized portion in a styrafoam clamshell with 3 pieces of their flat bread in a plastic bag.  Yum!I was well satisfied not only with the sweet soft orange gourd with the savory meat sauce and the tangy yogurt sauce, but with the generous portion.  I was also surprised by the bread, but I made good use of them by consuming them along with the soft sweet appetizer.  I was happy and content.I also went back for another order for my parents to sample.  The portion was still quite good, as was the taste.  Oddly, however, it came with 2 pieces of the bread vs the 3 I received the first time. The best Afghanistani food in greater Boston area. Nice, relaxing, yet elegant environment, great service and really tasty food. The only restaurant where I would go to have really tasty food. My favorite dish used to be Kofta Chalow until I tried Qabuli palow. Next time I would eat one and order the other for to-go. More...

One of my favorite restaurants in the area serving a cuisine that deserves much greater presence on the US culinary stage. The kaddo (pumpkin) dish is a must-try if you enjoy a little sweetness in your savory dishes - it is perfectly tender and is complemented by an enticing blend of spices. The mantu and aushak are also delicious dumpling options that again feature a unique spice blend and are also quite light thanks to the thinness of the dumpling wrapper. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very calm and comfortable, and I have never felt rushed here in the several times I have gone for dinner. The entrees can be a bit heavy on the rice but are also very tasty. Highly recommend! More...

The flour product was awesome. Staring with our complimentary "bread", coming warm, crispy outside and tender inside. With one bite, the delicious flour tarde enriched my mouth. We had one of the appetizers - bowlawni which was a twin pastry shells. The stuffing were spicy potatoes and chives. The pastry skins were extremely crispy. For the main course, we chose chopan which was the rack of lamb marinated. The lamb chops were grilled perfectly, not burnt, not raw. The eggplant sauce provided flavor for this course. In addition, the lamb soup was also worth trying, since it had a great smell of lamb.We ended up with pineapple cake as our dessert. The pineapple taste was not strong, but I loved the pistachio crunch on the top. More...

Flawless; I don’t think I have enjoyed better cooking and presentation at an Afghan restaurant ever, and I spent my childhood going out exclusively to Afghan places. Took me right back. I’d forgotten lamb could be so tender and yogurt so versatile. So recommended, especially if you’ve not had Afghan cuisine before; it is very distinct compared to other Middle Eastern cuisine. Small place, but nice ambience.Went there on a Saturday evening in a group of 4.Servers were very kind. We had Mantu and Bamiya (okra) as appetizers. Both tasted very good and everyone liked them. The Mantu was slightly spicy (mild).I had Sabzi Challow, which came with a side of Bamiya. It was really delicious (I mean the lamb, spinach, and Bamiya). However, I wished that the rice was more flavorful or had the Afghani touch of the nuts, carrots, and raisins (I think this is the Pallow rice, which I wished it accompanied all the entrées). The rice (Challow rice) was bland white Basmati rice.Same kind of rice was served for my friends who had Mourgh Challow and Kofta Challow. More...
