Ann was professional, fun, organized, positive and best of all she has a great eye. It was a pleasure working with her because every step of the way she was insightful, thorough, and helpful answering all my questions and constant "last minute" concerns. She was also very flexible and with my party of 17 people (5 family groups). It was casual and fun to have someone not force photos and still get every shot that we wanted. Each and every photo came out better than I would have hoped and they all have a very professional organic look of beauty and bliss. Her prices were really reasonable, so I thought I would take a chance on her, and it paid off big time! I can't adequately articulate how much we love our photos! What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Know your camera well. There is so much the camera can do to help capture the images you want. Learn ISO settings, shutter speed and aperture. Get in close to your subjects to not waste space. Shoot everyday as a way to practice your craft. See the light and use it to your advantage. A well timed joke will always yield a more natural smile, than simply saying “smile”. Don’t try to pack too many elements into your image; it will just end up looking messy. If you just include one or two points of interest, your audience won’t be confused at where they should be looking or what they should be looking at.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Have them introduce them and their family (names and ages). What is their favorite thing to do as a family? What do they hope to convey to their children through these images? When they look at these with their children, what do they hope they say? Tell us about their goal(s) for this session. (What are they hoping to capture?) What is their favorite thing to do as a family? What room(s) are they interested in hanging a wall portrait or portrait display?
What do you love most about your job?
Explaining why I have loved photography for over 20 years and why I never want to stop taking photos, it really comes down to how wonderful photography is at preserving memories and recording history. I can look through my family’s photos and see real life moments that I couldn’t experience and relatives I couldn’t meet. The most important thing about family photos is that they exist.

With me, their are hiring someone who knows how to make them look awesome, using an artistic eye, an ability to put the subject at ease, and the technical skill to give them a captivating image that everyone will notice.
