Ana's Bakery is amazing and the folks there are fantastic! Although I live in NJ and am probably the furthest thing from a regular at the bakery, Annette (who I have spoken with on the phone but never actually met in person) has made me feel like the most valued customer ever. I was coming to San Jose for a birthday and was looking for an affordable, quality bakery. When I called Ana’s, I hit the jackpot. Annette answered the phone and she was so sweet. I told her I needed gluten-free. She said, “no problem.” I mentioned that I also needed dairy-free. Again, she said, “no problem.” Even when I told her that I really only needed a cake big enough for two people, she happily said, “no problem!” And all of this over the phone, with a guy from Jersey, who had never been to the shop before. Pick-up day arrived and I got to the bakery just as Ana was opening. She brought out the cake that Annette had made for me and it was perfect. Not only was it beautifully decorated and just the right size, it was delicious! If I hadn’t been the person who ordered it, I wouldn’t have believed it was a gluten-free, dairy-free dessert. Yes, it was that good. This year, I wasn’t able to make it to San Jose, so I called Annette (who remembered me!) and asked if she could deliver a birthday cake. She said she’d be happy to (because she’s amazing!), and set to work on another fantastic creation. Even a last-minute call from me – on the morning it was supposed to be delivered – requesting a new delivery time didn’t faze her. Annette, sweet as always, said not worry and happily accommodated. She sent me pictures of the cake (which was beautiful) and of the box, wrapped in ribbon (also beautiful), beforehand. As delicious as it looked, I’m told that the photos still didn’t do it justice. I tried this cake at a party. Beautiful! Cake was good. But the butter cream was so think and not sweet. Honestly it just tasted like pure butter.

I ordered two birthday cakes for my twin boys last year. Annette and Anna made a two tier cake for each with fondant icing, one with a baseball theme and one with a Transformers theme. The cakes looked awesome, and all the parents at the birthday party loved them and wanted to know where we had them made. My boys were very happy with the cakes. As we had four tiers in total, we had 4 different kinds of cake and fillings. All tasted great. Our experience was very good, and I would refer others to the bakery if you want a better than average cake experience. Since our first bday cake order last year, I've ordered 4 separate fondant cupcakes with fondant decorations on them (which were fantastic and looked just like the image I sent her), and am now ordering birthday cakes again.
