Wow, the food here is absolutely amazing. I have been here numerous times and every time has been great. I would love to sit here and recommend some things, but the reality is everything has exceeded expectations. I came here for a wedding rehearsal dinner on a Thursday night and our party had reserved the entire restaurant. It was overall a great experience, and our waiters were very attentive. We had a preset menu including: pork belly, bruschetta, and spring rolls for appetizers. I didn't love the pork belly; it was too smoky for my taste and even though the menu said "gochujang" I hardly tasted that flavor. For the second course, I chose the field greens salad which was absolutely delicious. They didn't overdo it with the mixed-in dressing, which I find so often. Figs were good quality, too. For the third course (main entrée), I ordered the grilled gulf shrimp and was surprised by how much I enjoyed the butternut squash grits. However, the others at my table who ordered the chicken breast and steak weren't too pleased. The chicken was dry (I tried it) and the steak had a really strong clove flavor that completely dominated the meal. Granted, it did say on the menu it came with a pink peppercorn cabernet demi-glaze, but considering how strong peppercorn is, I'm surprised they used as much as they did. In conclusion, I'm glad Downingtown has a farm-to-table restaurant like this, where all the ingredients are directly from local farms. We dropped in for lunch and ordered the two specials: a pumpkin bisque and lobster frittata. Wow!! Both were out of this world delicious. And Zach the host and waiter could not have been nicer. We will definitely go back to try the dinner menu. Also Zach told us that they will soon have a new bistro on the floor above that will have a liquor license.  Hopefully it will be every bit as good. One of my favorite restaurants in Downingtown PA! My wife and I had our 15th anniversary dinner at Amani's. The setting is intimate and you can watch the chef cook from your table. It is often hard to find good sea food especially coming from the coastal area of NC. The chef at Armani's prepared our meals perfectly and the wait staff were great. The food is amazing ! The bruschetta was delicious but has bacon so not vegetarian. The lobster entree was indescribably good. Even though we split the appetizer we unfortunately had no room for dessert. It's a little far but try to get here every few months. Always a great meal ! More...

My family and I had a wonderful brunch at Amani's this past Sunday. I made a reservation via Open Table to celebrate my mother's birthday at 10am on Sunday. We were the only people in the restaurant until about 10:30/11 so it was kind of like having a private chef just for us for a little bit.Our server was extremely nice and accommodating. He removed plates and glasses that we didn't need and brought back champagne glasses and a bucket for our champagne that we brought.We started out with the Warm Fromagina Cheesecake, Braised Berkshire Pork Belly, Fresh Baked Bread Selection and Smoked Adobo Chicken Queso. The cheesecake was a dryer-style goat cheese which was different and very delicious. The pork belly was amazing and so was the crispy polenta that came with it. The bread on Sunday was a blueberry muffin and banana bread muffin. I ordered them for my daughter but the adults ended up eating them too! The chicken queso was awesome! Perfectly smoked flavor. The only reason for four stars was that we had leftover queso and asked to get it boxed up but then found out when we got home that our server only boxed the chips and not the queso. That made us so sad.For my entree, I got the Gulf Shrimp and Grits. There were plenty of shrimp places on top and the grits were very decadent, right with cream and cheese. Others at the table got the Eggs Benedict, Brioche French Toast and Chicken Confit Parmesan Sandwich. We all enjoyed our food so much. Everything here is cooked with total passion.Our server mentioned that they are planning to open the upstairs as a completely separate restaurant with a liquor license. We went for our wedding anniversary and had a nice time. The server was a little "flighty" and kept forgetting things... I've never heard "I'm sorry" so many times...but her heart was in the right place even if her head wasn't. The food was excellent! The entire dining experience was wonderful, as it usually is. We were seated promptly and immediately attended to. The room was cool and comfortable and the menu selection (and features) were varied and fresh. We each had three courses, all different and all delicious. This was our second trip. Loved the food just as much as the first time, but the service wasn’t as strong as our first visit. I think this was our server in particular - toward the end of the meal we had trouble finding her and getting her attention to ask about dessert, get the check, etc. she also didn’t offer he complimentary limoncello with dessert that we had last time and saw others serving. The food was amazing, highly recommend going for the food, and frankly that’s what you are there for anyway! . However, we must have caught the restaurant on a night in a heat wave when their air conditioning was broken as it was really hot and humid in the restaurant. the place is small, it was "very warm", and the tables are close together. its not a private dining experience if that is what your looking for. ..but what it is, is the best food you will find anywhere near to Downingtown. I came to this restaurant after shopping in town. I did not have a RSVP but the hostess gladly gave us a nice seat.We had the pork belly and grilled oysters appetizer, jerk chicken soup and the short rib entree. Everything was amazing and delicious! I really love how the waitress was very attentive and took away our finished plates. Oh and the bread was warm and was served with a yummy oil to dip. I would definitely come back when I am in town again. The restaurant is BYOB and they have mixers for purchase! Just stopped in for the 10 year anniversary 5 course dinner last Friday. Been a few years since I had been by ( probably been in 10-15 times thru the years and have to say everything was top notch and just as good as all the other trips thru the years. Happy anniversary to a great business run by some of the nicest and most friendly people and staff in the area. This is one of our favorite restaurants. Great for a quiet, romantic meal and excellent for out of town guests who are foodies like us. Our meal on Tuesday evening was outstanding in every respect. We shared an escargot dumpling appetizer that was sensational. We enjoyed main courses of Scottish salmon and the special pork chop addition to the menu, thinking nothing could top that escargot appetizer...but they did. My wife and go to a few different places for special occasions. Amani is one of those places. It never disappoints. The calamari is tempura breaded and fried in duck fat. Spectacular. The duck is excellent as well. Bread pudding for her desert and chocolate banana creme brûlée for mine. Both were spectacular. 6/28/2019Just came back from Amani. Wife and I ordered from the 10th anniversary menu. Wife got the gazpacho and I started with an amazing Caribbean chowder. Coconut milk base with scallops, shrimp, pineapple and scallions. It was sweet and savory and really got the juices flowing. Next we both had escargot encrutè with mushroom purée and a quail egg. It was earthy and buttery and the pastry was soft but held up to the butter wine sauce the dish was excellent. For our entrees we both had steak with smashed potatoes and shishito peppers. Now I've had steak a thousand times and this was probably the best steak I've ever had. Perfectly cooked and seared with char lines and burnt ends. Dessert was an unbelievable s'mores pots-de-creme that would leave any chocoholic quivering and weeping with delight. All in all it was an excellent dinner, one of the best experiences I've had at Amani. The Chef/owner Jon Amann really out does himself over and over. His amazing instincts with pairing flavors and creating eclectic menus that never fail to produce multiple options for the most discerning foodies. He truly is one of the most talented young chefs in the Delaware Valley. More...

Excellent dinner! Scottish salmon, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Jumbo shrimp over linguini with mushrooms and artichokes. ..delicious! Lump crab manicotti outstanding! This would be the best restaurant in the are if the noise level could be lowered to a reasonable level. Noise reducing covers could be added to the walls and ceilings that might enable diners to hear each other during the meal!
