We had so much fun here. I like that this one big farm has everything to offer. We’ve always gone up to Sussex county area because that’s where I grew up, but all the different farms have different things to offer, so you have to get into your car to drive to the next farm and on and on. At Alstede Farms they have plenty of variety u-pick fruits and veg, a homemade ice cream shop, a “petting”’zoo, a market area/farm store, lots of things (I’m sure I’m missing plenty) all in a one stop farm. We loved it. My only nit pick wish is that there were more shady areas. After spending all day in the field in direct sun, it was hard to find a spot to cool off, we had some ice cream in the sun but it was so hot so left before we could get to the farm store and explore more. There were two picnic table areas with canopies but they were all full. I would’ve bought some corn and tomatoes and honey and probably plenty of other things that I saw had I gone into the store but was too neat. Now that we kinda know that ropes, we’ll probably do that first. More...

My father suffers from a traumatic brain injury due to a stroke he had back in October 2015. Since then, he has been wheelchair bound. Apple picking with the family has always been one of my dad's favorite traditions, but we were afraid that was one of the many things he would not be able to do again since it would be impossible to get him on a hayride. When we found out Alstede Farms has handicapped accessible hayrides, we were thrilled! My dad can still enjoy his favorite fall activity with the family. Everyone at Alstede Farms was so kind and accommodating throughout the whole afternoon and we will definitely be back next year. We are so grateful to be able to still share these moments together. I particularly liked the pleasant, warm and friendly staff, the immense and impressive acreage, the hay ride around the orchard and the delicious food. The corn maze could have had some guidelines, as in what to do if lost, how much time they'd give us, what time the next little bus was coming so we could know if we were going to be left stranded or not...but that could be first time jitters. It was not cheap to get in, but it was fun! More...

Aside from my daughters bubble machine being stolen right from our stroller that was parked near the hayride, we had a great experience. We understand that this has nothing to do with the farm and has everything to do with dishonest visitors which can happen anywhere. I'm honestly shocked by all the negative comments about pricing. We actually thought that pricing was great! Considering that there are tons of free things to do before even paying. At least this farm gives you the options...most places just give you one set fee for picking apples...here, you just pay for what you pick(so just pick wisely..lol) Sounds about right and fair to us. Hm, guess people will always find something to complain about.
We definitely enjoyed our time, the complimentary wine(which we ended up buying a bottle anyway...lol) and our 6 our visit definitely wasn't enough time. We look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you!

We recently celebrated my daughter's 3 yr. old birthday party at Alstede Farms and it was GREAT! Kai and the staff were amazing and so attentive. My daughter and her guests (adults included) had so much fun. They played on the lawn next to the tent, feed the farm animals, jumped in the Bouncy House and went on a wagon ride - all besides the food, cake and bubbles. One of our guests "a seasoned birthday party attendee" at the age of 9 told me that is was the BEST birthday party he ever went to. THANK YOU ALSTEDE FARM and Kai!!! I've been visiting the farm for years. Sad to read some of these reviews. Support small businesses like these local farms. These families depend on the support for their livelyhood and are not like large supermarket chains. Yes you may pay a bit more, but at least you know where your produce is coming from! The staff was so friendly and helpful it gets five stars even though the peaches were mushy but we had so much fun. They were very tolerant of our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter who was everywhere at once and she had a blast climbing the hay and walking the sunflower maze and picking blueberries and raspberries. It was the right combination of helpfulness and leaving you alone to just do stuff. I’m going to give it 4 out of 5 stars, the farm was so much fun! Even though it rained we were able to still do all the festivities and then some. The kids enjoyed he animals, the hay ride, train ride, pony ride and the bounce house. Even with the rain we all really had a lot of fun!

The staff was super nice and went out of their way to say Happy Mother’s Day! The free ice cream treat for us moms was a delight. Thank you...

Now for the 4 stars, the brunch was not the best food for the amount of money spent. Everything had asparagus in it, there was no getting away from it. The chicken cutlets seemed like the cheap pressed chicken. The dessert was good but my mom and would have loved to try their homemade pie next time. This was the perfect Mother’s Day trip, I just hope they switch it up and stay away from one single veggie item in almost every dish. My kids and I will be back!

My family gets the farm share from Alstede and it's great.

The farm itself can get very busy and the entertainment leaves a little something to be desired but the atmosphere is nice, the staff is very friendly, and their events are great.

During a few months of the year, you can pick your own berries, pumpkins, and other fruits. It's a lot of fun, especially for kids.

Other notable things include the sunflower maze, the goats, and their phenomenal apple cider, which is the best I've ever had.

If you get the opportunity, I recommend attending one of the breakfasts that they hold throughout the year. For the most part, they serve their fresh produce and the food is delicious.

Overall, a visit to Alstede Farms is well worth your time.

So glad I found this farm with such fun activities during the fall. I have been here a couple of times already and I always enjoy the vast farm space with various fruits to pick from. I have come here during mid- September where I still managed to find fresh apples to pick - with such a big variety of apple types. Also, I enjoy picking pumpkins during the Fall/Halloween time. I know they also have other fruits and veggies like strawberries, peaches, blueberries, sweet corn, potatoes but those are available early in the season which I have yet to go to. But they have vast fields with a hay ride to take you along the different fields.

During the fall they offer a Harvest Moon Hayrides & Night Time Corn Maze, which is the perfect deal to get to do various activities. The corn maze is very extensive and is easy to get lost if you are not paying attention but it is a fun time and great way to navigate with friends and family. They also have a petting zoo with horses, donkeys, sheep and goats. At night they have a huge bonfire with complimentary apple cider - it is tasty and nice to sit by the warm fire.

Will definitely be returning to this farm and highly recommend others to visit!

Making couple's biggest day memorable, fantastic and super fun.

Farmer Kurt, a native of Chester and first generation farmer, founded Alstede Farms in 1982. In fact, the entire Alstede Farm Family is here working hard to grow our own local, healthy, and nutritious food in a responsible way. This includes: Grandpa Hermann Alstede, wife Barbara and children Rebekah, Sarah and Karl, each working and contributing to the success of this family-owned farm. There is also Niece Patricia Cirelli who is here every day managing our Community Support Agriculture Program. And finally, brother Eric Alstede and nephew Justin Alstede also spend some time here each week helping to ensure that every aspect of what we produce and offer at the farm is simply the best it could be.

We produce a huge variety of our own local fruits, vegetables, and flowers grown using only sustainable and USDA certified organic production methods. We take soil and water conservation and the stewardship of our farm land very seriously, and have therefore permanently preserved all of the farm land we own. Indeed, we are proud to be able to say that nearly every acre of the 600 acres of farmland we till is permanently preserved! We offer: Pick Your Own fruits and vegetables, the best Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA) in New Jersey, and a fully stocked Farm Store that is filled with the fruits and vegetables we grow, as well as our own local honey, homemade ice cream and fudge, home baked pies, jams, jellies, our own cider donuts and more! Our own local fruits and vegetables are also sold at Tailgate Markets across Northern New Jersey and beyond.

We have made a long-term commitment to agriculture in Chester as well as in New Jersey. We love what we do and we love serving you!
