Wow! We were back in Chicago to celebrate the daughter's birthday. We had been dreaming Alliance Bakery dreams since we had one of their wonderful cookies during a previous visit. At that time we decided one of their cakes was an imperative when planning a future celebration. We perused their cake gallery on the Alliance website.  So many gorgeous cakes that we found it difficult to choose. Since she is now in Chicago we decided to go with a Chicago skyline silhouetted against a sunset. The cake was vanilla with vanilla buttercream filling and vanilla buttercream icing. We hired Alliance Bakery for our cake and mini desserts for our wedding in June. Our 4 tier wedding cake had different flavors and fillings for each tier. The almond and hazelnut cake were our favorites! For fillings we had combinations of raspberry preserves, strawberry preserves, and white chocolate mouse. The cake was absolutely beautiful! For mini desserts we ordered raspberry macaroons, strawberry macaroons, and red velvet cupcakes..they all were a hit! My husband and I did notice after the fact that the design was a little off from what we decided upon. We had requested ribbon around the cake board and gold flaking. As the picture shows, there was ribbon around each tier, and no gold flaking. My experience started off a little bumpy. I came in to get some information about a custom cake, and was greeted by a less than enthusiastic teen at the counter. .. sigh... I'll leave it at that because the rest of the experience was phenomenal!My friend who swears by their quality told me to overlook the first impression and email about the cake, and I'm glad I listened! I sent a picture and the lady who responded was helpful, pleasant and patient (via email and phone), answered all my questions and worked within my budget. And a month later i picked up a masterpiece that was so perfect people couldn't even believe it was a cake! It was perfect for our son's party and it tasted as good as it looked! The man who rang me out was super kind and even carried the cake to the car for me. All future special occasion cakes will come from here. I went with Alliance for my mother's 90th Birthday and they didn't disappoint!  The cake not only looked good but tasted even better!  My Mother was speechless when she saw the cake as it was a total surprise.  Her guest were also blown away by this cake.  Of more importance is the high level of service Alliance provided me during this process.  They were responsive and worked hard to meet my needs and expectations.  Did I mention I never visited the actual bakery  We communicated via email only!  I was so impressed that they called the venue to coordinate the delivery of the cake on my behalf.  I can keep going but I think you get the picture.  Thanks Tony for all you did to make my Mother's 90th Birthday happen!  You ROCK!!! My boyfriend and I had reservations at the sushi place down the street, but there was about an hour wait, so we decided to walk around the neighborhood and came across Alliance Bakery & Cafe. The cake displays out front are mesmerizing. I couldn't help but take plenty of pictures and drag my boyfriend inside to try some pastries. They had plenty of pastries, cookies and cakes to try from, but being a cookie fanatic, it was my number one choice. If a bakery can't get a chocolate or chocolate chip cookie right, then they shouldn't be baking IMHO. There was no line or wait, the bakery was fairly empty at around 6PM on a Thursday, so I took my time to glance over everything. They had macarons, gorgeous looking mini cakes, croissants, cookies and bite size pastries. Everything looked extremely appetizing. I finally decided on the chocolate cookie and a German chocolate (with caramel) bite size pastry (not sure of the exact name). I also ordered a latte to go! Service was extremely friendly and the guys behind the counter were very patient with my indecisiveness. There was an indoor seating area, but it was closed, however, there was also outside seating. The cookie made the list! It tasted absolutely delicious. Moist and soft with a little crunch from the pecans. The German chocolate pastry thing was very bitter. We ended up throwing it away. The latte was okay, nothing special about it. The bakery was a great find, it added more options for when I need custom made cakes and what not, and now I know it has good cookies! My family and I purchased a cake for my father's birthday here. I called one day in advance, and they were not only completely willing to make the cake but were willing to make it as customized as possible, despite the short amount of time they were given. I ordered a custom cake from Alliance Bakery for my daughter's graduation from Medical School. I live in Atlanta but the graduation was in Chicago this past Monday, so I had to communicate via phone, and email with the bakery to finalize the details of the cake. The process was easy, and they were able to follow all my specifications for the cake to a tee. The cake was delicious, and looked exactly as I requested! My daughter loved it. Oh my goodness! We were walking by and noticed the cakes in the window. Cakes is an understatement. These are magnificent works of art constructed with baked doughy goodness. The daughter was interested in a Mother's Day cookie for Mom and so we entered this museum of cake artistry. The cookie selection was impressive. She settled on a nice "Love you Mom!" on a heart shaped cookie palate. Lots of sparklies and nice frosting. The cookie was light and crispy with a wonderful sugar cookie flavor. Although we were not eating the cakes it was clear that this bakery is masterful in its baking prowess. The examples in the window and in the pictures on the wall are a testament to their confectionary and creative genius. Mom shared her Mother's Day present with us and we loved the cookie. They haven't failed me yet! I couldn't be more excited to review! I had a really difficult time picking a bakery for my baby shower and I found Alliance. They were absolutely accommodating to my situation since I ended up having my baby before my shower. Made my party amazing!!! (I will insert photos) I also had them do the 1st birthday and 2nd birthday cake for my beautiful daughter! My husband and I got married last month and hired Alliance Bakery to cater our wedding cake and desserts and we were sooo happy we did! ! My husband heard of them from a coworker and actually purchased a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, my favorite, for my birthday last year. It was so stinking good we had to use them for our wedding desserts! We did an assortment of cupcakes and cookies and everything turned absolutely beautifully and so delicious! My son's 7th birthday party last Saturday was a hit in large part because of the delicious and artistically designed cake of Egyptian Pharaoh Thutmosis and the famous Sphinx. Walking into our wedding, I didn't think the cake was going to be that big of a deal, but in the spirit of having fun while wedding planning, my wife and I brought my mom and aunt on a cake tasting at Alliance. And all I can say is HOLY CRAP! First of all, every single cake/icing combination we tried was incredibly delicious; not too sweet and absolutely unique. Second of all, it became so difficult to choose that instead of having one wedding cake, we did a tasting cake and mini cupcakes. Those cupcakes were a HIT. And I don't think I've ever eaten a cake as good as this tasting cake. It was simple, beautiful, and delicious. And coordinating drop off at our reception location was a breeze. Alliance's wedding coordinators were a dream to work with.

Thirdly, as an LGBTQ couple, finding wedding vendors can be incredibly stressful and the Supreme Court decision about the baker and religious freedom came down while my wife and I were planning our wedding. I reached out to Alliance making sure we were welcome. I received a message of complete support. It made me feel truly welcome on a tough day.

Was looking for a bakery to find a small cake for my bf birthday surprise. I was in the wicker park area, and saw how people raves about this place and gave it a shot. I asked for the tiramisu and chocolate ganache cakes which were absolutely divine. The ganache has small macaroons around it. It was beautiful! My bf and I loved the cakes. I have been to Alliance now three times to get cupcakes on my way home from dinner in the area, and I love them!  I really love to eat dinner up on Division St and there have been a few nights now that no matter I where I end up for dinner, the night isn't completed without going to Alliance.  I went with a friend just last night and had some of their macaroons too, and these are also great!  Definitely the best baked goods that I have had in this area.  I will continue going back! My husband and I used Alliance for our wedding cake. We frequent Alliance very often since we live in the neighborhood, and we have known for a long time that we wanted Alliance to make our wedding cake. I ordered a 4 tier wedding cake for our wedding that was 7-28-18 on Elite Private Yacht. We had 4 flavors, each tier was different, our favorite was the lemon cake with strawberry filling. We worked with Hannah, who helped schedule our tasting, and worked with our wedding coordinator for delivery. She was wonderful! I hesitate to rate Alliance because I think that the macaroons are probably 5* having looked at them. I bought pain au chocolate and croissant and they just didn’t cut it.
