My partner and I adopted our sweet boy, Odin, almost a year ago. A month into our life with him we realized that we had a nervous, improperly socialized, fear reactive pup on our hands and immediately started looking for an experienced positive reinforcement trainer to guide us through behavioral rehabilitation. Our first trainer was good, but Terri was great! I was shocked at how quickly she was able to establish trust with him, which made training a joy for him and for us. Terri went above and beyond, laying out a detailed behavioral modification plan, taking the time to listen to us process our boy's ups and downs (which is incredibly comforting for the owner of a reactive dog!), and carefully demonstrating techniques until we felt comfortable trying them ourselves. She was (and continues to be) incredibly generous with her time, sticking around past our scheduled time block to ensure we ended on a good note, meeting us for quick trips to the groomer, and answering my millions of questions in between sessions. She has taught us how to be kind, confident, force-free leaders for our insecure pup, and helped us to believe in him. We've started to see awesome improvements in his behavior over the past few months, and we cannot thank Terri enough for helping us to get here. We are so grateful to have her on Odin's team! Terri did wonders for our 2 yo German Shepard rescue who was abused in his former life. He was very timid when we brought him home, not coming into the house for several days, fearful of enclosed spaces, and would shy away from other dogs on our walks. His overall personality was fearful and shy even with my wife and myself. We saw Terri five times, once a week, where she coached us on his behavior modificaton techniques using treats as motivation along with ample praise. She provied us with ample written informaton on canine behavior and a training lesson plan for the next upcoming visit.   Now one month later, Jax is a completely different dog having a vibrant, playful personality and having the run of the whole house. He is also half way through his Level One obedience training, interacting well with other dogs and his at home training sessions. Many thanks to Terri for her professionalism and knowledge in helping us bring out Jax's potential. More...

Terri has a special connection to dogs, our 6 month old Vizsla puppy loved it when she came to our house to train her, and us, on walking on a leash, basic obedience and manners. We don't have to worry about our puppy dashing out the door anymore. She is learning not to jump up on people when they come to the house or walking down the street. Terri has given us the tools to complete our puppy's training.  Thanks Terri! More...

Terri pet-sat and trained our highly reactive, and sensitive, older rescue dog Charley last summer. Charley has had a number of trainers for his dog-reactivity, and he has a number of other triggers such as mail trucks. I don't trust just anyone with Charley, and there was a lot about his routine that Terri had to work with. Terri did a great job providing enrichment activities and relaxation experiences for Charley while we were gone. These included special toys she bought just for him and massages at the end of the day to help him wind down. In addition, she was highly trustworthy about taking care of the pet, accessing our house, and updating me daily on how Charley was doing. Although this wasn't a traditional training interaction for us, in that we didn't have a specific training goal in mind for Charley, her expertise as a trainer did shine through and I would recommend her. We are lucky to have Terri and Hunter to come to Children' Discovery Museum for celebrating Lunar New Year, the year of Dog, couple weeks ago. Terri is super nice and friendly to work with.  She is on time and very organizes. Her interactive activities with the kids are fun. We hope that we can bring Terri and her dog back for another future event. More...

I have volunteered with Terri at the Animal Shelter, and have witnessed her do such amazing work with many of the animals. With extensive experience and knowledge, Terri does a great job with training using different approaches for different breeds! She is incredibly sweet and friendly and is willing to answer any questions you may have! She will go out of her way to make sure you and your pet have a great experience while making sure your needs are fulfilled. Her mission is to serve the community by helping pets stay in their homes and believes that there should never be a reason to surrender a pet due to behavior. Without hesitation, I recommend Terri as a trainer to anyone! More...

Q&As

I love helping dogs and their owners make the connection with each other and watch the transition occur. It really inspires me to see the faith, loyalty and love that animals and their families have for each other.

I have been working with animals all of my life and have always felt a connection specifically with dogs. After my last child went off to college, I decided to act on my passion and become a professional dog trainer. I enrolled in an accredited college dog training program, earned my degree, and my dream of opening my own dog training business followed!

I offer personalized private dog training to each of my clients, I only take 3-4 clients per week which gives me the ability to focus on each client individually and give them the highest level of training and interaction, at the clients convenience.
I am a Certified Professional Dog trainer- ABC-CDT, a member of (APDT) Association of Professional Dog Trainers, I work with (HSSV) Humane Society Silicon Valley as a volunteer to help socialize the shelter dogs and also assist in the group training classes. I have maintained Presidents Circle membership with HSSV by donating a portion of my profits so we can continue to help save animals in all of the Santa Clara Valley.
