Everyone was super nice at this animal hospital. My box turtle had puffy eyes so I needed to find a vet. We called around and nobody could tend to a turtle! Only place we could find! Dr. Jenkins was very knowledgeable  and thoroughly explained everything. He answered any questions we had as well. Turns out my turtle has a vitamin A deficiency and needed a shot. Him and his assistant easily administered it without any issues. I may not have had any selections for turtle care but I would choose them if I had.  I also got her nails trimmed. I have to say I am pleased with my visit.  I had a hard time to find a vet that takes care of reptiles.  I thought turtles was a common pet to have, but so I found that there's not many vets that handle reptiles. After calling a few different places (including my regular dog vet) I was able to find Dr. Jenkins. I was able to schedule an appointment with him for my baby.Upon arrival we were given a folder with insurance information for pets and all the information needed for the visit. It was great!He was very knowledgeable and even took the time to go get me a copy of a book for box turtle information. He was able to answer all our questions and was able to trim her nails since they were a bit long. Dr. Ray is by far the best veterinarian we've ever seen in AZ. Dr. Ray saved the life of our cat a few years ago after having a dental by another veterinarian.  She sat with him all night. She went above and beyond to save his life.We lost contact with her after she left that animal hospital. We were reunited with her today with an emergency with our 10 month old puppy.We are SO grateful and blessed to be reunited with her!We highly recommend her and this practice!!!The Starkey's More...

My wife and I were on the verge of having to take our cat Apollo to an emergency vet we were terrified that he was going to die, but we found this hospital and everyone was so friendly and wanted to really know what was going on with him. After moving to the Valley last year, our main concern was finding a great Vet for our kids. As a dog parent everyone knows how important that is. We were thrilled after our first visit to Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital.  Their staff was fantastic and, our ability to always make a quick last minute appointment is huge for us.  When the kids met Dr. Ray it was like love at first sight! She totally got them, like if she knew them already. This transfers onto the animals and they remained calmed and, have never not wanted to go in their offices. There's nothing worse than seeing your pet not feeling good.  Wally, one of our three Airedale terriers, was unusually lethargic with little to no energy this week.  My wife and I were immediately concerned realizing that he was presenting with uncharacteristic behavior that included a lack of appetite.  There are several animal emergency rooms nearby, but of course, I would prefer that Dr. Jenkins remain the key point of contact and care for him.  We called the hospital and Dr. Jenkins worked him into his schedule the same day.  Dr. Jenkins performed a thorough exam that included x-rays and sub-q hydration to quickly combat Wally's lack of fluids.  Thankfully, nothing metallic was found in his intestinal track that required surgery so he was sent home with anti-nausea tablets and a few cans of a high fiber dog food to stimulate his gut.  After about 24 hours Wally passed a pomegranate from our bush in the backyard.  For all of the dog lovers out there note that pomegranates are poison to our four-legged friends.  I've since had the pomegranate removed from the backyard to avoid another occurrence.  I'm thankful for my wife's prescience and foresight to get Wally to Dr. Jenkins quickly.  Dr. Jenkins is highly experienced and knowledgable and is one of the top vet hospitals in the US and Canada.  Wally is back to his 'ole Airedale self-- both energetic and playful. Dr. Jenkins has been my vet for nearly 20 years.  I've been to numerous others, either due to necessity or geographical convenience, and while they've been fine, they all pale in comparison to Dr. Jenkins and all of the AACH staff.At AACH I know I'm getting the best and most appropriate care for my pets.  Dr. Jenkins always discusses all potential diagnosises, explains why which is the most likely, and explains the full range and progression of treatment options.  After an appointment, I always receive a follow up call from someone.  If I have any additional questions or concerns, someone will ask Dr. Jenkins or I will speak to him directly about it and we can decide whether to alter the treatment plan, give it more time, or schedule an additional appointment.  I get the personal service while saving me the time and cost of an additional appointment.  I can ask the most obscure questions and Dr. Jenkins will quickly respond, citing the most recent scientific studies.  If I express any concern for my pet he will tell me about the newest, most advanced treatments but at the same time never recommends unnecessary treatment.  At other vets I've felt pressured into treatments that in hindsight we're obviously, ridiculously unnecessary, and no one at AACH ever even suggested similar treatments.I'm also very impressed at the high quality of all the staff at AACH.  One of my dogs is very nervous and is a total wreck when we come in, shaking uncontrollably.  She's actually much calmer at the end of the appointment, despite all the poking, prodding and shots.  It's because the staff go way out of their way to be nice, make her feel comfortable and make it the best experience that it can be for her.My other dog is sort of a stubborn wimp.  While I've had other vets literally spend the whole time talking to me about what a difficult patient he is (rather than giving me any information about his prognosis), the staff at AACH are always very sympathetic toward him.  It's not until I throw him under the bus that they'll admit that he is totally overreacting.I can't think of anyone else that I would more highly recommend.  I'm so impressed by the consistently high quality of care my pets receive from Dr. Jenkins and the entire staff.  It's rare to find some place that nurtures a culture capable of delivering such high standards.  And despite their offer for "account credits" for recommendations I never tell anyone to mention my name.  I feel like it would cheapen my recommendation.  It's far more important to get the best care for your pets. I have been to this vet multiple times. About 10 years ago our great dane had his stomach flip and we had to put him down. We brought him in on an emergency basis and they fit us right in, all while being incredibly compassionatr and caring during our heartbreak. Most recently I took my own 10 year old cat in for a check up when they found 3 tumors on her chest. I took her back in several weeks later after the tumors started growing aggressively and showed to be cancer. She just had surgery this past Thursday and I've been back once for a bandage change which they didn't charge for. They got all of the cancer, xrays are clean, and no doubt they saved her life. The staff knows my cat when I come in and also in incredibly friendly with my kids who undoubtedly are with me each time. They're understanding about finances, helpful with the paperwork for insurance, and overall just have eased my worries every step of the way. I'm a client for life. More...

We really appreciate the animal hospital and Dr. Ray.  We have a older Yookiepoo that has major separation anxiety from my wife.  We were new customers to the office and the doctor was great working with us to come up with a solution to calm our dog down when she was with family members when we were out of town traveling.  Dr. Ray would call my wife back and respond to her email questions as we worked through a solutions in a timely manner.  We really appreciate Dr. Ray and the staff who really helped us out.  I recommend them highly! My sweet little dog had a massive stroke And my vet had already left for the day . Called several other vets who despite only needed end of life as she was suffering told me they where to busy, I called ahwatukee animal hospital and they were so wonderful told us to come right in  Gave us room right away  were genital caring  did not rush us , hugged us  all of the staff n dr were compassionate and genital... Thank you for saving our dog, Brady's, life. He escaped and was hit by a car in the evening in Laveen. I got him in the car headed to a vet ASAP and after 5 other places turned Brady down AACH was willing to take him in at closing and worked after hours to give him the best care they could. Dr Jenkins was very capable but also kind. Along with the staff, they were the only good thing in the middle of a horrible situation. Brady is still recovering but he is doing better then I could imagine with a broken pelvis among other injuries. The staff here is extremely caring and compassionate. I am new to Arizona and my dog was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and Addison's Disease. Chloe only lived a little over a month after she was diagnosed. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful to me during this time. Last week, my fur baby passed away and I received so many hugs from the staff. I can't say enough about this place. When I have the strength to adopt another dog, I will return here for care. So compassionate and honest. Our 17 year old pug was always well cared for, never over serviced against his best interest. Recently, we had to make the most difficult appointment for our Annabelle, our American Bulldog who was hurting at 15. From the phone call (in which I was crying) to the sympathy card that I just received a week later, this staff is the most trusting and compassionate around. We love Dr. Jenkins and staff. The staff at this clinic is wonderful. From the moment my puppy and I called for the first appointment to the initial visit meeting Dr Jenkins, I knew we had found the perfect vet for our new puppy. We boarded him in the kennels for 5 days while on vacation, and I was so incredibly pleased when I picked him up. The caregivers complemented him on his behavior and said they looked forward to seeing us again. My puppy was incredibly relaxed and happy- no stress at all. The ladies at the front desk are always such a pleasure to speak with, and Gerry the kennel manager is the kindest person. I highly recommend all services in this clinic! More...

Yesterday we took our sweet dog, Maggy, in for the hardest appointment of all - to free her from her limitations and send her to heaven. It was time, but still, it was so sad for our family. The staff reassured our decision and made so many kind gestures that made a difficult day a little easier on us. They offered our pup yummy treats, asked for payment at the beginning so we could leave as soon as we finished up, explained every detail throughout the entire process and offered us warm hugs and kind words as we left. It was actually an intimate and beautiful experience for us as a family to gently send her off with kisses, pictures, hugs and prayers. They also reassured us her body would be treated with dignity once we left. We want to offer them our heartfelt gratitude for their care and concern. My dogs and I just moved here from far out of state and I needed a new vet. I also wanted boarding facilities to be available in case of emergency when I'm out of town. when my baby Pili had a stroke in 2014, the people at this hospital were extremely nice to me, understanding that it was a hard time and calling me constantly letting me know what was going on with him, they where very warm and compassionate. When the choice was made to put him to sleep it was very hard but thanks to them I knew everything that couldve been done was done. Months later I received a letter from Kansas university letting me know that this hospital had sent a donation in my babys name, and his name would be put in a book. In the rush to move out of state I forgot to make arrangements with my regular vet to get health certificates for my two dogs so that they could travel on the plane. My regular vet was on vacation and I needed to find someone close to us that could accommodate our need. I called Ahwatukee Animal Care and explained my dilemma. They took some information over the phone at 5:30pm and I was able to get an appointment for the following day. The staff and doctor were so friendly and answered all my questions. Dr. Herczegh and Dr. Jenkins are very knowledgeable and caring. They've always been willing and able to answer all my questions. They tend to recommend conservative treatment approaches rather than jumping straight to the most expensive thing. When my kitty was having behavioral problems, Dr. Jenkins admitted it wasn't his specialty and chose to refer me to a specialist to make sure my cat would get the best care, even though it meant taking my business elsewhere for that treatment. He even called around to his colleagues to make sure he was referring me to a good specialist.I also love that they are able to accommodate emergencies during business hours. On several occasions I have called asking them to fit me in because my dog ate chocolate or my cat was vomiting and lethargic. Fast treatment at regular prices. My cat would not be alive without them. Dr. Herczegh did emergency surgery on my him!The only thing I'm not really a fan of is their boarding service. It seems okay for low maintenance pets (I'm okay with boarding my dog here), but my kitty is high maintenance and I felt like they didn't follow all of my instructions for him. More...

I've been bringing my 2 poms here for years. Dr Jenkins is amazing and is very thorough and takes the time to explain things & answer my questions. The staff is always friendly  and know all of us by name.  Over the last 2 months both dogs had issues and needed to get in there ASAP due to me having to go out of town. This clinic is amazing. I needed a kennel cough vaccine for my pooch last minute to board him and they squeezed us right in! Super friendly too! My dog was later attacked by another dog and these vets and staff were so patient and on too of it. I wouldn't take my pup anywhere else. More...
