The food was ABSOLUTELY delicious! It was cooked and at our table super fast. The prices could be lowered a bit considering we paid almost $50 for 2 sandwich combos but for the amount of meat you get, it is kind of awesome! Pure Texas portion style BBQ! Sauces are good too!!! In a pinch deciding on dinner I found this place and I can’t say enough good things. Off the bat the customer service was next to none. Friendly and welcoming is an understatement to say the least. The food.....AMAZING! My wife had the brisket and I had a rack of ribs with fries, Mac, slaw, and beans. Everything was 15 out of 10. Working for a small business myself it’s important to acknowledge and support businesses like this.This place bought a food truck throughout the pandemic to keep their business alive. A hometown friend traveled from the Suffolk area posted about this spot so I had to check it out! Taste of Texas has amazing food! the brisket is done so well you don't need a knife to cut it. the chicken is fantastic! I had a catered event for my retirement and they did amazing job making the food. I did a bold move of not tasting the food and ordering between them and mission BBQ and I'm glad I went with Taste of Texas. The sauces were delicious too! The food overall was delicious that I did not really use the sauces but did taste them. The cole slaw was very tasty and I would eat it by it self. I definitely recommend Taste of Texas! I got the Destroyer meal (To-Go)... it was awesome. Juicy tender brisket, bacon, gouda cheese with jalapeños and onions. The bread (bun) is like a Texas toast. We ordered lunch there today at work. Our shop is in the South Norfolk area of Chesapeake and we usually order lunch from somewhere close but after talking to Tim I knew we just had to make an exception and make the 20 minute drive there. We ordered sliced brisket, chicken salad, beans, collards, slaw, potato salad and the mac n cheese. OMG! everything was deliciously TASTEful! The quantity was was well worth the price. Went there today for the first time and will definitely be back! I was a bit nervous that it was going to be spicy but it was amazing! They had food for all spice ranges and the BBQ sauces were perfect! We tried the pulled pork grilled cheese, bacon mac n cheese and baked beans. All were prefect.
