What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
A personal connection between photographer and subject is key. You can be the words most naturally talented photographer but if you have no connection with the subject it just won't work. My team and I strive to make you happy and comfortable and in my experience you being comfortable is what makes a great photograph. Not a fancy camera or a large budget.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
We like to know a few things.
-Location of wedding, shoot, or event. We will go there before hand to get a feel for it and solve any lighting issues we may have.
-Is there anything you don't want in the picture? We are body positive here at 35mm Retina but if there is a scar or tattoo you would like left out we will do our best to either not shoot it or edit it out.
-What is your budget and how can we help meet it? Weddings are expensive and so is being an actor. We understand this and will do our best to get you a good price while keeping our top quality work.
What do you love most about your job?
I love looking down the barrel of a camera and finding that perfect composition. Especially at weddings you don't have very long to pick your moments and I love that rush of split second timing that you need to capture those moments that only happen for a spark.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It started in high school as most photography obsessions do. I started with animals and nature then went to headshots. I found i like working with people and i took up shooting full weddings and loves the rush. I get to meet new people, I get to share joy and its just a lot of fun for me.
Why should our clients choose you?
We are not a large company. 35mm Retina consists of me, my wife Lauren and my long time friend and partner Derek. All of us with years of photography experience and dozens of weddings, shoots, and events under our belt. We have no-one to answer to except you and your needs. We go home and edit in our offices, living-rooms and back yards. This is our passion and this is what we take pride in. We are a small business that is easy to work, communicate and negotiate with. We have fun, are professional and we would love to work with you.
