The HOT lobster roll was wonderful! I could eat 2 by myself. The oysters on the other hand were over priced and very small. Solid option for Oysters, Lobster Rolls, and other seafood.The bread used in the rolls comes from a bakery in San Antonio and really brings the roll (Lobester, Shrimp, or Crab) together. The oysters we had were from Massachussets and among the better oysters you can get in Austin.Service is friendly and attentive.The Brussel sprouts are a tasty side dish in a bed of balsamic and topped with fried onion strings. Austin is a very long long way from the sea, so it was a complete joy to find a place that was serving the most excellent Lobster rolls. In addition we ordered some Calamari to share that was absolutely divine. Garbo's is truly a hidden gem in Austin. Located in a tiny strip mall far from the main hives of activity in the city, it is a place that you have to hunt out but is really worth doing so. I found this hidden gem after wanting to experience a new restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised. As someone who is native to Texas, I don't consider myself an educated individual in the ways of New England cuisine but these folks at Garbo's seem to really capture the essence of what it is like to dine at a nice establishment along the North Atlantic coast. I tried the Lobster roll (Connecticut Style) and the Fried Calamari. Both of the dishes were amazing! The calamari was served with a spicy aioli that was very delicious. The decor was inviting and reminiscent of New England style architecture. Lastly, I tried the Blueberry lemonade and I could tell that it was homemade. Yum. Yum. Yum. Connecticut native here, finally trying this out. Chowder was nice and thick, even coming with the proper oyster crackers. Shrimp was tasty. Fries nice and crisp. My wife (a native Nova Scotian and a fisherman's daughter) had the Connecticut style lobster roll (poached in butter) and loved it. Kudos for being super kid-friendly despite how upscale this place appears. I had requested a high chair when I made my reservation and they had it ready, along with a kids menu, crayons, plastic cup with a straw, and a bowl of Goldfish. Service was great and the food quality is outstanding. It’s a little pricey, but everything is excellent and we are in the middle of Texas.
