Style Points DJs Matt and Jerry were excellent in their performance at my organization's semi-formal event in April 2018. Very flexible and accommodating, Matt and Jerry were prompt in our communications and were extremely professional . They provided the lights, speakers, and music for our event, which made my job much easier. They also did their own transportation and setup for their equipment - they were extremely efficient in their work, coming in and playing for four hours and then breaking down quickly, all with no help. Their music selections were great, and they were able to create a nice mix of what they thought people would like and official requests from people at the event. Matt and Jerry created a nice atmosphere of music during the meal and then played a fun set to get people dancing. They were patient and adaptable with the crowd, persistently pushing past a part of the night where people were just milling about and getting people to really dance and enjoy themselves. All of the people attending the event told me after how much they really enjoyed the DJs and thought they did a fantastic job. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Mixing early and often with music that people actually enjoy hearing and haven't heard a million times at every other wedding they've been to. Lol! Proper planning is also important to ensure that we can maximize dance time. I usually like to condense formalities to save time (doing introductions, first dance, speeches, and parent dances all at once will save time).
How would you describe your ‘style’?
Though I am very comfortable on the microphone, I don't generally like to be on it during dancing. I cannot stand when I'm at a party or club and the DJ will not shut up. I care so much more about making sure the music flows and people are vibing all night. With regards to music, I love to mix music, particularly feel-good stuff from all backgrounds that gets people moving. I usually like to play out 1 verse and 1 chorus of a song before mixing seamlessly to the next, but if this is not your vibe I can definitely adjust. My reasoning is I believe it's better to fit as many bangers as possible into the night!
What do you love most about your job?
Meeting new people, working at new venues, exploring the world, and making memories that last a lifetime are just a few of the perks of my job. I appreciate each and every one of my clients so much!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I love dance music more than anything. It is my greatest passion in life. I always kind of knew I wanted to end up in something related to music, and having always had an eclectic music taste, DJing just feels right to me. I am also naturally extremely extroverted and LOVE social interaction.
