As busy working parents in New York, my husband and I were terrified by a gut renovation of our apartment in the city. But from the moment we started working with Sara we knew we could trust her to guide us seamlessly through a stunning renovation. We were so overwhelmed at the beginning, but somehow she managed to make the whole process so easy... and fun! She truly spent time understanding what we wanted and then managed to translate it into reality, while always keeping an eye on timing and budget. She combines a great Italian taste and eye for design with a practical approach and a deep technical knowledge of the materials, products and processes. She is a truly incredible project manager, always having everything under control: paperwork, contractors, orders, design... And she knows how to say no when the space or the budget does not allow that special impossible wish... I remember so vividly how my mind was set on a chandelier for our dining table... which made absolutely no sense for our ceiling height... or the huge sofa that would take too much space... luckily, my stubbornness did not discourage Sara from patiently rerouting me toward the perfect light fixture and sofa! But when the dreams are possible, she would go above and beyond to translate them into reality! What’s your interior design process?
STEP 1
UNDERSTANDING THE INSPIRATION
Before the design process begins, the team does a deep dive into the style, preferences, and goals of each client. A detailed questionnaire reveals design and brand preferences, lifestyle priorities and even pet needs, to understand everything there is to know about the vision of the client. Sara and team brainstorm with clients and create a wish list of ideas to envision a stunning, finished space.
STEP 2
COMMUNICATING WITH PASSION
The promise of curating spaces with a human touch is built around ongoing communication that is central to the entire process. Preliminary layouts, including suggestions of furniture, are explored. Sketches help communicate and clarify design intentions, and clients give feedback at every step, The vision begins to emerge loud and clear.
STEP 3
CONNECTING TO THE SITE
With an evolving vision in mind, the design team visits the project site to gather measurements and immerse themselves in the space. This helps determine what is viable and logistics needed to move forward. Early drawings, plan sets, and renderings are created. The selection of furniture, finishes, and materials is completed. The budget is estimated, and a timeline is prepared. A design proposal is presented to the client for approval, making it possible for work to begin.
STEP 4
SKETCHING THE VISION
With an understanding of the personalized design project and with inspiration running wild, the team jumps into creating a mood board that includes everything from color schemes to a preferred design aesthetic in more advanced sketches. It is becoming real.
STEP 5
TAKING SHAPE IN RENDERINGS
As the designs are refined, detailed renderings are created to visualize the preliminary plan including furniture and finishes. Revisions based on technical drawings from vendors and feedback from clients advance the process. Multiple site visits unfold to ensure all is in synch and going according to plan.
STEP 6
CONSTRUCTING A NEW REALITY
Hot with ideas the team is finalizes the layout and renderings showcase final selections of furniture, finishes and construction materials. When approved, it is time to bring the designs to fruition and construction begins.
STEP 7
TURNING OVER THE KEYS
The delivery of goods, on-site supervision of installation, a final to-do list and resolution of remaining issues add up to a flourish of activity. An overview inspection inspires final touches, and the dream has turned into reality. Congratulations. It is time to enjoy.
