What do you love most about your job?
What I have come to appreciate that real estate management is a learning experience. For example, some days you might have the routine plumbing issue, so you are coming to know a little something about plumbing, but the next day you might be rushing to a property to meet an insurance adjuster because of an electrical fire. When confronted with such issues, you begin to realize, each and every experience is an ongoing education in matters both large and small.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After seeking a part-time position, which would allow me to continue in my religious work with little or no success, I was finally approached by a real estate investor, who requested my assistance in the management of his scattered Pasadena Properties. In this connection, I learned the property management business from the ground up, which later lead me to work for other property management companies.
As time progressed, I and my business partner decided to start Suba Management Solutions, our first full service property management company, which we operated for over 13 Years. After my business partner suffered an untimely death, I continue with the business for a while, but later decided to sell and move on in life.
But our hearts never left the real estate management business, so we decided to start R&R Property Management, with a fresh and more narrow focus. For example, rather than having a scattered outlook on the types of properties managed, we decided to concentrate on single family homes, 4 unit properties and our leasing service. Yes, rather than doing a lot of things just ok, we were determined this time, to do a few thing great. And this we have accomplished by concentrating on just a few types of properties and services
Why should our clients choose you?
As most property owners may have come to realize, that the property management industry has become highly automated. In other words, the human element has almost been completely left out of the equation. For example, if a property owner or his tenant contacts the company with a simple or perhaps serious question, most often they are directed to email or text the company. This is the case, even if the large majority of your tenants are computer illiterate or non English speaking.
In connection with the above, I believe in automation and think it should be used at the right time and the right place. On the other hand, it should never take the place of simply picking up the phone and allowing your clients and tenants to know the people who are managing the property. After the management agreement has been signed should never be the last time the property owner speaks to the property manager. Management is often times contingent upon both property owner and property manager working together. For this the human element must be there, because after all no two properties or property owners are exactly alike. So, we do not believe in a "One Size Fits All" approach to property management, but rather a partnership approach to management.
