Bereavement Counseling
Patrick is really kind and does have a good sense of humor. He is a really good listener and makes useful comments. He also doesn't just sit in silence, waiting for you to talk, which I know therapists do for a reason but he lets you talk also.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping people through their problems. I am a very easy person to trust and share things that people have often never shared with anyone before. I have a great sense of humor. I am very empathic.
I have been licensed since 1984. As everyone is unique, I fine tune a combination of most treatment methods such as client-centered, self-psychology, EMDR-Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, CBT-cognitive behavior therapy, DBT-dialectical behavior therapy, IFS-internal family systems, ACT-acceptance and commitment therapy, EFS -emotionally focused therapy, inner child work and I help people who suffer from anxiety, child abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, searching for their true self and passion such as becoming a LMFT or other positive goals.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was in a Catholic seminary in high school and college and we had spiritual direction with a priest counselor each week and I loved the process of self-discovery that came out of that experience and wanted to do the same kind of work, but be able to get married. I wanted to become a Jungian analyst so I went to Tom Kirsch M.D. for the 250 hours of analysis to go to the Jungian Institute in San Francisco, but I moved to Capitola and I was too busy in my practice. I went to Emmett Miller M.D. for hypnosis training and marriage counseling for several years also.
Why should our clients choose you?
As I said above, I am a very easy person to trust and share things that people have often never shared with anyone before. I have a great sense of humor. I am very empathic.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I do all of my services remotely usually with Zoom, Simple Practice, etc. I find it to be more effective often as people focus deeper and do not get as distracted. Surprisingly, many people prefer the phone for that reason also. In grief counseling, sometimes we are are both crying on each end of the phone.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I am on the insurance panel for Beacon now called Carelon for Kaiser clients to ask for authorization for therapy which they often do for a year at one time a week and sometimes two times a week, but I do not have that much time available.
