She trained my rescue pup from shy and timid into a perfect mobility service dog.
I adopted a 4 month old rescue pup and knew he was going grow to a large size.
I'm pending an extensive spine surgery and will never be able to bend over and will be unsteady on my feet. I needed a dog trainer right away so I'd have a well trained dog by surgery time.
I found Cheryl on Thumbtack and gave her a call. As soon as she stepped in my house, my untrained rescue pup was calm and listened to her. She has such a calm and gentle way about her. My pup loves her.
My pup has gone from shy with no confidence to being my perfect service dog that I can rely on. He also knows several tasks like putting laundry in a basket and taking the basket to the closet. Opening and closing the fridge to get me water. Picking up items I drop on the floor. Bracing to help me up from the floor. Pulling me up from a chair. Bringing me a blanket. So many other tasks that Cheryl has taught him so he can help me. Having a trained service dog is the epitome of a well trained, happy dog.

Who knew how hard it is to find the right dog trainer?! When we got our pup, Boomer, we started our search for a trainer. What I found was 95% of them want to “board & train” . No thanks. My pup is not going to live away from me. How would I know if he was abused or shock collared? It's not like he could call & say “mom, come get me, they hurt me!”. So my search continued until I found Miss Cheryl. What a blessing she is! Boomer absolutely loves her. She is kind but firm when needed. There is no yelling or physical correction during training. She uses a correction spray which contains a mother dog's pheromones in it. The sound of the spray with the scent is enough to get his attention without hurting him. This is important for us because he is a Great Dane/Golden Retriever/Stafford Shire Terrier mix. He is going to be a bigger, very strong dog & I need to be able to control him. My kids need to be able to control him as well. Plus, he is going to be a mobility service dog. Our training sessions are hours long & we gain good ground with each lesson. We love her so much that we added 5 more sessions to include our older pup. I love to just watch her interact with them because you can tell she loves animals. If you need a trainer, don't think twice, just hire her! Her prices are way less than most but her time with them is priceless. More...

She was so very kind in every way possible. My dog went from doing his own thing barking his head off to not barking unless I let him. She taught him to sit, lay down, and get back up. She won him over right away and taught him to walk on a loose leash, to obey my commands, walk behind me, sit on command, and stay on command. Fabulous experience. 5 Star help me with a puppy lab for training. A year later I adopted another lab. The chocolate is now 1 1/2 years, black lab just turned three.
I couldn’t walk them together because the are too strong. App. 90 lbs. each. After a couple of sessions the puppers walk in unison. Not perfect, but give me a few months.
I highly recommend 5Star. Cheryl is a star.

What do you love most about your job?
I have always had an extreme passion for Animals.
At 7 yrs of age I would ride my bike 3 miles to the nearby stable and stay All day with the pony I just adored! Sad was the day I outgrew him but I graduated on and met a Class A Judge pop who showed me the ropes and at 14 Years old I began Training Dogs and Horses. I became a National Champion Trainer due to the phenomenal quality of horses I had to ride... So I divided my childhood between winning Obedience Trials and showing Exceptional Horses. Bought me my Dream facility, 100 acres of Virgin Forest just outside of Indianapolis with a Big Southern Colonial home reminiscent of Tara in Gone with the Wind... There I built my Training & Breeding Center …Also had a Rescue Rehab for Dogs and Cats, placing hundreds into wonderful Loving homes and our resident Vet that boarded her Beautiful Thoroughbred with us was a Godsend!

I have Always been one to forge my own path... Always looking for the Best and easiest way to communicate. Not close minded by tradition but Always Learning and finding the Very Best way to connect with Our Best friend. ❤️

Training should be Fun for both You and your Dog. Shock collars, E-Collars are Not fun they are Torture devices meant to get a quick response. I don’t use them. There is Good reason they are banned in most European Countries including Germany.
My Training Dogs become Super Pleasers... They are Always way more Loving, Attentive, and well behaved ~ after Training.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Being Type O Negative I am less likely to get the virus or a severe case. I Always wash my hands and wear a mask in Public.
I Only Train without one...
Because my expression is an invaluable part of the Training.
They feed off the positive emotion and wearing a mask simply isn’t effective. But maintaining a 6 ft distance is a smart alternative.
