“David Reed-Brown is more than just a magician. Yes his magic is expert and entertaining and awe-inspiring, but the real magic is the inspiring way in which he presents it. You leave his performances knowing that life itself is magical and filled with endless possibilities.

David was just incredible. It’s hard to put into words how well-received his performance was for our Heritage Village event. Everyone was just delighted and we will certainly invite David back for another performance of his “meaningful magic!” More...

So glad I found this site and an exciting professional for our event.
How long have you been interested in magic?
I have practiced and studied the art of magic since I was 7. I became a professional magician, living out my dreams, in 1997. In 1999 I began attending McBride's Magic & Mystery School in Las Vegas. In 2018 I was made an Instructor of the school - one of the greatest honors of my life since the birth of my children, marriage and other professional certifications.
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
I empower others to do the magic. I am like a magic mirror reminding people that they and their world are magical. I perform many different shows and often customize them, so it is not one size fits all. No matter where you have me perform, you always get a theatrical show with beginning, middle and end - whether it's a single card trick or a full evening stage show in two acts. I perform classic magic with expert sleight of hand, mind-numbing mental magic, classics like the Chinese Linking Rings. I float a table around the stage with a participant's help, and I can even MAKE IT RAIN! I also empower a woman to float HERSELF in the air or produce an honored guest with a grand illusion. I put the wand in participants' hands. They do the magic. With strolling and formal close-up magic, it happens right in people's hands. Nobody is ever put down or taken advantage and all language is family and work friendly - never blue. The show also has a couple-dozen soundtracks of beautiful and inspiring music. I often end my filling the stage with shower of confetti or paper butterflies - even bringing them into the audience.
What do you love most about your job?
Magic is what the audience experiences. It's about THEM and creates life-long relationships. I love the connection I make with audiences reminding them that THEY and their world are deeply magical! I love that I bring people together and create joy. I love the meaningful story-telling; stunned silences; frying people's minds to the point of freaking out; the uproarious laughter and sometimes being moved to tears.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Seeing how much I spent on magic in one year when I seriously dove back into it when I was 29! But more so, when I attended the Magic & Mystery School in Las Vegas, I met the greatest magicians in the world - who are so caring and supportive. They affirmed all I had studied and learned in magic to that point. I had come home / found my tribe. The gave me many strong affirmations that this was something I loved very deeply; could do very well and with a unique approach they had never seen before.
Why should our clients choose you?
I perform meaningful magic that people will never forget or see anywhere else. I am one of only a dozen or so people trained and authorized to perform one signature piece of magic by a Las Vegas headliner. I touch people's hearts deeply and astound their minds. Some adults tell me they feel a new sense of possibility, hope, and some report feeling more like a kid again! There is nobody out there who tells magical stories the way I do. The magical effects are extremely strong and amazing - people come up to me years later removing their signed and dated card they've carried in their own wallets the whole time. It enchants all the senses, and people remember it and how those of YOU WHO HIRED ME made them feel for a long, long time. Plus, when we craft magic for your particular message and brand, they remember those too.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Yes, I perform my show, The Meaningful Magic Joy Factory from my virtual home theater with 3 cameras, backdrop & lighting. The magic is highly interactive and actually works quite well over Zoom. I can provide materials / props for participants to use in their own home, school or workplace.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I have a virtual show and am able to perform outdoors. I often perform in a mask, practice social distancing, and I ask hosts to provide hand sanitizer an open windows when possible. I am fully vaccinated.
Family Entertainment
ALL OF DAVID'S SHOWS CAN BE GEARED TOWARDS AMAZING FUN, MORE MEANINGFUL GATHERINGS or INSPIRING & UPLIFTING EVENTS. They can be geared for adults, teens, children, people with special needs, wonderful fun, more amazing for cocktail parties and adult gatherings, other cultures etc. Your choice.
David will perform for your family and guests at home, a banquet hall, country club etc. with fun and uplifting magic that brings everyone together to create joy. He can do this as a standup magic show or strolling around performing close-up magic or a combination of both. There is lots of affirming audience participation. David specializes in listening carefully to your needs and customizing his show into a unique, personable and meaningful experience for you and yours! Your guest of honor or birthday boy/girl can be the star of the show, if they want. No one is ever picked on or made to feel uncomfortable, and David's performances are "COVID compliant."
Strolling Magic
David loves performing magic as a strolling magician at restaurants, banquets, receptions, cocktail hours, picnics or most anywhere that people are waiting. The performance is "COVID compliant" but still very interactive. When safe, the magic happens in people's hands, and he often leaves them with a magical object they will save and remember you and your event for a very long time.
Master of Ceremonies
Invite David to be Master of Ceremonies for your event. He will listen to your needs to help craft a smooth and enjoyable experience for all your guests. He can introduce each segment or other performers and offer a set of magic himself along with quick effects, inspiration and comedy in between different acts, performers, guests, events, etc. David is flexible and a consumate professional who can adapt to changing needs so people will remember your event for many years.
Children's Shows
David has been a camp counselor and coordinator, summer arts director, and worked with children since he was a teenager. Whether at a school, birthday party, scouts, community organization or congregation, children are delighted with David's magic. He affirms them, fills them with wonder and joy. He actually gets standing ovations from a lot of Jr & Sr High audiences.
They become the stars of the show, and he will even teach them to do magic! We ask that adults remain present for crowd control. NOTE: David has gone through and even taught extensive safe-child practices and policies for his work in camps, schools, scouts, communities and congregations - including screenings, finger-printing and background checks. It is very important to him to make children's experiences safe, uplifting, affirming and VERY MAGICAL! P.S. Yes, he can make balloon animals for smaller gatherings of up to 25 children.
Magic Teacher
David delights in teaching children, tweens, teens and adults age-appropriate magic depending on their stage of development. He teaches them to "think magically" so they are using simple and easy to achieve effects to tell "magical stories." David will let you know what props, crafts or items to bring. For ongoing lessons, David will guide you in selecting routines, props, books and even videos to support ongoing learning. This can be a single class or a series of library, after school, weekend, evening or summer series. David gives at home like many music teachers, and LESSONS CAN BE TAUGHT VIRTUALLY ON ZOOM. PLEASE NOTE: When teaching children and teens at your home, an adult always needs to be in the house or apartment. Because David will never teach in a hotel room, dorm room, bed room, you may need to find an appropriate private space at a library, school, community center, congregation, etc.
Fine Parlor Magic
Do you have a classy cocktail party, reception, hotel, upscale corporate or a more mature event for your guests? David performs in tuxedo with fine props for our custom designed and very special event. This can be a combination of formal close-up, strolling or stand-up "parlor style" magic. To create an especially magical atmosphere, guide your guests to wear cocktail attire and limiting children to 12 years and up. David can bring magical music to play as your guests arrive, and when they enter your magical performance area, there will be a wonderfully fresh scent of roses. Real or artificial candles and outdoor luminaries can help to enchant your audiences as they enter this very special experience of wonder. David is proud to have performed this style of magic at The Griswold Inn (Essex CT) and at Storyteller's Cottage in Simsbury CT as featured in Yankee Magazine.
Fairs & Festivals
David will bring fun and excitement to your outdoor fair or festival with a series of stand-up shows or strolling magic. He loves bringing people together to create joy and that exciting festival feeling! David will listen to your specific needs and help create the most magical experience for your guests. A powerful sound system, microphones, lighting and often risers or a stage are essential - fairs can be noisy and people need to hear! He can bring his own sound system to cover up to 100 people, or you can provide an appropriate sound system to reach more guests outdoors. Fair and Festival Shows need places where David can hold the attention of the audience because magic is theatrical and requires focus - like watching a movie. He needs to be the tallest, most visible and loudest person in the space to hold their attention and deliver STRONG MAGIC. David needs a covered stage area to perform and reserves the right to alter or cancel performance when temperatures reach 90 degrees. He is proud to have performed more than 50 shows for The Big E New England Expo, essentially the New England states' fair in Agawam, MA.
Magic Director for Theater
David has directed or designed magic for theater and musical productions like Denny Moon's Abracadabra and Lawrence Khong's The Magic of Love. He will meet with you and your company to come up with magical routines, props and settings that are appropriate for the skill-level of your actors, stage crew, venue and budget. His knowledge of various magic effects, special effects and routines is encyclopedic. These can be simple effects, larger stage "prop magic" or even easy to learn (with committed rehearsal) grand illusions. David can coach, block and direct your actors at a series of sessions and can provide notes.
Magic Coach
David delights in coaching beginner, intermediate and advanced students along their magical journey. This can range from simple and affordable half-hour lessons to more advanced hour or longer lesssons for people preparing for specific performances and competitions. In these cases he will often interview your magician for an hour free of charge and assist with script writing for an agreed upon number of hours. For a set monthly fee, David can be held on retainer for a certain number of hours of instruction, mentoring and even remote coaching via internet. He also has extensive resources and connections to draw from the world famous Magic & Mystery School in Las Vegas where David is an Instructor and has studied for more than 20 years.
