With 13 years in the fitness industry and 14 years as a chef I have a broad knowledge and experience base to draw from and help you achieve your plans, goals and training outcomes. Michael's food background adds another layer of support he can/does provide (when i listen to his advice). I contacted Micheal while I was living overseas in preparation to come home to Nz - from the get go his enthusiasm, dedication and professionalism are demonstrated in his communication and follow through. It’s refreshing to meet a coach that is humble, humorous and engaging. Our journey started with a hiss and a raw - within a day of arriving home we were having a coffee for a face to face chat.
It was great to feel like he really listened to my physical challenges, and my personal goals….. and so “Operation Arms” it was named.
Being in the female 40 something category, a professional, and a busy schedule posed no challenge for Micheal - his flexibility has made fitting in my one on one sessions with him so easy.
I made a commitment to myself that with moving back to Nz I would only surround myself with people that have the same vibration as myself - he never disappoints! Micheal’s view on a “whole” approach with nutrition and movement going hand in hand is super charging my results.
Along with his uplifting attitude to life, his adaptability with different movements to a body that is riddled with “izzums” has made movement once again a buzz ! I look forward to his sessions each week knowing I’m one workout closer to my goal !

I first started training with Michael when I decided I wanted to join the Fire Service. Michael knew what I needed to achieve and got me ready to complete my fitness test. Along the way I also managed to lose 10kg. Michael is a great motivator and really pushes you to get results. He helped me with my food planing as well. He keeps in touch with you from week to week and is there for any help you need along the way. I have been working with Michael for a few years both face to face and via online training. I recently started the online training with Michael as I had moved cities and could not do face to face. I am doing the 90 day challenge with Michael and am over half way through. My weight has gone down even more to the stage where I will have to change my clothing sizes. I have even gone down in belt sizes. I feel fitter, stronger and eating really healthy food. Michael has helped me improve my running and pushed me to keep going. I am not a fan of running. Michael is an amazing trainer and I will continue my journey with him as long as I can. More...

Michael is such a wonderful trainer! Ive had the pleasure of working with him for 2 years and his supportive and non-judgmental approach is what I needed to gain confidence in the gym and in myself. I went from not knowing how to pick up a barbell to working up to heavy lifts, and cannot thank Michael enough for this. He always switches up the sessions to teach you a range of movements, and always has great banter to keep you engaged. No day is the same, Michael has so much knowledge and passion for what he does. If for some reason one exercise isn't working for you that day he has the experience and know how to adapt and change it up in the blink of an eye to achieve the same results but manage the niggle you may have that day.

Lots of information learnt while working out and little changes to make you sessions but day to day life better as well. I sleep better, wake earlier and productivity and mental health is on point again.
I highly recommend Focus to anyone that wants to get in shape, improve their fitness and clear the head.

After having physio on a torn hamstring, I was introduced to Michael. I had a meeting with him & found that he listened to what I wanted to achieve.

Michael started our sessions on a light training & he is slowly building up my training sessions to make things more challenging. He is always checking in to see that I am coping with the various exercises.

When Michael promises to send me information, he does it & is proactive in sending information if he things I will benefit from it.

Training with Michael has made more aware how important it is to keep myself active as I get older. I can see that I am getting stronger & have more energy to do the things I like doing.

Being 62 and having done NO excercise for two years I was a bit unsure if a personal trainer was really the answer for me. As it turns out, Mikes been great at getting me motivated to at least think about exercise outside the gym. I really apreciate the way his sessions are so varied and include things I think I could do at home (sometime). Focus takes the time to check in and sends out useful info, especially for anyone wanting to maximise the impact of their training.
Its only been a matter of weeks but its great to feel physical again and the presense of muscles Id forgotten about.
I feel pretty confident that Mike can tailor an effective training program for anyone, at any level of fitness.

This goes out to you who are thinking of joining Focus. My name is Maritza, I belonged to Focus for two years, after a wrong decision, I left the group, started smoking and never exercised again. Two weeks ago I came back and it was the best decision I've ever made. Many people think that it costs a lot of money, that they could spend that money on something else. But the reality is that neither your boss nor your family and friends are going to take care of your health. physical and mental !!. If you read this you will have a thousand excuses but the truth is that I have the best physical trainer I have ever met and he will always help you, but you must do everything on your part. I have been having group and one on one sessions with Mike for over 2 months now. I have been amazed by Mike professionalism and genuineness to see me succeed in my fitness journey. I have had Michael as my personal trainer for nearly one year now, like anything new it was hard to start with, committing 3 mornings a week to working out, but once I started noticing good results - loss of body fat, loss of weight, toning and muscle gain (but not too much! !!) it inspired me to keep it up and work harder, learning about nutrition which goes hand in hand with the above results, was good. With only 2-3 participants this is very close to 1on1 training and will challenge you in a great way!

This initial consult is extremely important as we go through what you are currently doing and have done, injuries and any barriers you may have.
A good looking into your struggles, nutrition, whats going well and a lot more.
This helps form a clear picture of what we need to do to move forwards.
