What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
A great photo? It's about getting the right mix. You need good composition, playing with light, and being patient for that perfect moment. Capturing those unscripted, genuine moments during celebrations is the heart of what makes my photography job incredible. There's something truly special about freezing those raw, candid emotions, the laughter, joy, and genuine connections shared by people celebrating a moment. It's not just about taking photos; it's about preserving those instances that hold immense sentimental value. That's what I love most about what I do!
What inspired you to start your own business?
My journey into photography and launching my own business has been an incredible evolution. When I moved to New Zealand from the UK 10 years ago, capturing the breathtaking landscapes became my initial inspiration. As I ventured into the hospitality industry, I found myself using my travel camera to snap photos of food, drinks and events for marketing, a simple start that ignited my passion.
With a background in graphic design, I began creating restaurant menus and promotional materials, gradually expanding my clientele in Christchurch's dining scene. However, it was when I dipped into event photography that everything shifted. I discovered a profound connection with capturing genuine moments and emotions in people. It was in those candid shots that I found my true love for photography shining through.
The transition from landscapes to integrating photography into marketing and then stumbling into the world of candid event photography has been an amazing journey. It's this evolution that has fuelled my passion and formed the backbone of my successful photography business.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
To ensure safety during COVID-19, I've heightened equipment sanitisation, moved consultations to primarily online, and favoured outdoor locations for shoots. Adhering to social distancing and face-covering guidelines when necessary and can offer contactless delivery methods such as Pixieset online gallery for final photo delivery to ensure a safe experience for both clients and myself.
Wedding Photography
I offer full-day wedding photography in a relaxed, documentary style – from getting ready in the morning through to the dance floor. My focus is on capturing the real moments as they unfold, with minimal posing or interruption. Each gallery is delivered via an online platform with hundreds of high-quality edited images that tell the full story of your day. Engagement sessions can also be added on request.
Couples & Portrait Photography
Whether it’s a maternity shoot, a couple’s session, or updated portraits, these shoots are all about capturing you as you are – natural, relaxed and in a setting that suits you. Sessions usually take place at golden hour around the Christchurch Port Hills, local beaches, or another spot that feels meaningful to you. You’ll receive a full online gallery of edited images to download and share.
Event Photography
I cover events of all kinds; birthdays, functions, product launches and more, all with a candid, unobtrusive approach. My goal is to document the energy and atmosphere while making sure all the important details and moments are captured.
