The thing I like most about this pub is the stained glass windows.   The location is a long-thin room with a high ceiling.  It is probably best if you are 2 people meeting for a drink.  For groups of 4+ it is standing room only, and you'll be jostled a lot by passers by.Staff is friendly and on the ball.  The pints are good, but they could be served a bit colder in my opinion. The patrons are decent folk, no riff-raff. Great set of pubs on this lane.  It's like what Temple Bar would be like without being in Temple Bar. More...

I found this place very enjoyable Both when I am with a group of friends or out solo for a drink. I absolutely love the interior decor and especially enjoy the giant windows that you can look out onto the street below. I can definitely get a little busy but most the time I'm able to pretty easily find a seat. The bar service is actually pretty fast and I don't feel like I've ever had that long of a wait. Prices are pretty standard and I've usually stocked just ordering basic drinks or beers. It was a place I enjoy stopping by and I can find it as a little bit of an escape. Would definitely recommend. Looking through the reviews here, I note that nearly all are from tourists - which is the way Dublin has gone in recent years, but hardly the best way to make a proper assessment of a Dublin pub.

Charming AF! Chatted with a local as I ordered and talked about my trip to Ireland. Old wood paneling, booths, and stained glass window all stag themed. Great selection of beers and Whiskey. Stay away from other tourist traps and come here for a great time. More...

Down an alley, but not more than a stone's throw away from the Temple Bar area of Dublin, is Stag's Head. I prefer the smaller crowd of Stag's Head to the hustle and bustle of Temple Bar (unless the mood for some good craic strikes). The old feel of the booths and woodwork, with stained glass windows takes you back in time. Prices are cheaper than Temple Bar area and the bartenders are informative and friendly. I had my first Irish coffee here years ago and it's still one of the best I've ever had. More...

Great place to bring visiting friends/family or for special occasions since it can get crowded, especially on weekends. Be prepared to stand outside and drink you beer if it's during a busy time of day. If you go later in the night, they have events on certain days of the week, like a comedy show. I came here on a visit to Dublin last June and had what might've been the best meal of my life: seafood chowder, bottomless brown bread baked fresh in house, and Guinness. The stew was only a starter but it was more than enough for a full meal, and served as heavenly sustenance after a long afternoon of walking. Beyond just the food, the interior is fantastic too--tall arches and ornate woodworking, paired with the overstuffed red leather seating and stained glass gives off a well-aged, comfortable pub vibe that I enjoyed. As it is near Grafton St. and Temple Bar area, it's not necessarily the most "local" establishment, but I got the feeling it's equally loved among both tourists and residents. Strongly recommend. Great location in Dublin, down this small alley close to Grafton St.Walking in you just get this feel of a traditional older pub with a Victorian decor. Lot's of tables close to each other... love the friendly setting. I sat up at the bar, looking up at the large Stag mounted head. I started with a delicious Irish coffee made to perfection! Had some brown bread.. so good. The pub offers a lot of whiskeys, the bartender recommend we try a few... no complaints. We came here around 7pm on our first night in Dublin and the place was packed.  We were looking to get dinner, but realized the kitchen closes at 6, so we made it a point to come early the next day to try and get a table.  We got here at about 5 on a friday night and there was plenty of seating available.  We saw the bacon and cabbage on a travel channel special, so we had to try that.  It was incredible. The best meal we've had in Ireland so far. We also got the fish and chips which were so much better than I ever imagined fried fish could be.  The best part, however, was the seafood chowder.  It tasted like creamy heaven. I have never had a soup so good in my life.  We kept hearing before we went to ireland that no one goes there for the food, but Stag's Head proves that wrong! More...

Decent place. I spent all my time at the upstairs bar which was decidedly less exciting than the downstairs bar. Bar staff were all rock solid. Super quick and poured an excellent pint. Only thing they hurt this place were the crowds of people flocking to the place which kind of got in the way of a good time.
