We used DP Building and Carpentry for our home renovation and extension project in 2017 and would recommend Dave and his team to anyone. We lived in the house during the works and Dave made sure we had access to all the necessary facilities - he even set up a temporary kitchen and moved it around depending on where the works were taking place. The team he used were always respectful of it still being our home, despite the fact it was also a building site. We found him to be very responsive to calls/messages and he virtually made himself available to us 24/7 throughout the project. In the end Dave did not do the job I requested as my house sale fell trough. What I am reviewing is his attitude and professionalism in planning the job for/ with me. .. nothing short of outstanding. What also shone through was he always answered the phone! Despite being very busy and even on a Sunday. His quote was in line with what I expected and more to the point, he helped me adjust things to my customization and to save money where I wanted to. He always listened and gave excellent tips. Dave carried out a major renovation of a period house for us, and we couldn’t be happier with his work. The job was completed on time and within budget. More importantly, the quality of the workmanship was faultless. Dave was meticulous in uncovering all of the issues that lurk beneath the surface of an old house and went to great lengths to ensure that all of the fundamentals were sound before he went about covering it up again. All of the tradesmen he brought in were top quality, from the plasterers to the painters. He produced beautiful carpentry from drawings that we provided, delivering precisely what we wanted. Snags were addressed instantly, often without us even pointing them out, and the whole project was executed with great courtesy and good humour. A very high end service. We have used this company twice over the last 3 years for a kitchen extension and an attic bedroom conversion which also included a brand new roof and insulation. We had our attic staircase spindles replicated from the original staircase.
Extremely happy with both projects. From start to finish Dave Thompson and his team have provided us with an elite service, a high level of finish and attention to detail. Dave and his team have just completed our extension in Glasnevin and we are absolutely delighted with the job they have done. The work required was a c.30m2 flat roof extension to the rear of our house and the removal of an internal wall to create a large open plan space. We also had a refurbishment of the adjoining utility area and added a new wet room and new patio area and steps in the garden. We felt that architects plans weren't necessary as we had a very clear idea of what we wanted and Dave and his team were able to achieve the exact result we were hoping for without any issues.
A lot of excavation work was also required to prepare the site as our back garden was raised and higher than the house but this didn't present any difficulty.
Dave was great to work with, highly efficient and very well organised in terms of co-ordinating the project and keeping to deadlines. His knowledge and experience proved very helpful to us as he offered plenty of guidance and gave helpful tips based on ideas that worked well on previous jobs. He was always available to discuss open items and the whole project ran like clockwork.
We can thoroughly recommend Dave and his team.

We hired DP Building to create an open plan area for an old 1970's house that had multiple ad-hoc extensions. They did a fantastic job on the new roof for the extension and incorporated a stunning patent glazing roof-light which every visitor to the house has since commented on. A real stand out feature. DP also built us a lovely patio for our garden, created a real flow from the garden to the house. The kids now spend all their time outside. Inside the house DP rewired, re-plumbed and re-insulated the house with all new plastered walls. Our BER rating went from E2 to B2. The plastering working was second to none. Overall the finish to the house was 5 stars. DP really take pride in their work and it shows in the final finish. Other than the excellent work and attention to detail and ability, one of the best comments I can make about DP is the personal. Every single one of them were professional and courteous. A genuinely nice bunch of people who made me feel very comfortable through all stages of the build. The build was completed on time, there were no hidden costs, no surprises. DP kept me updated through-out the build and did not rush off before the house was finished. They stuck with it till the job was completely finished and I have no qualms in giving them a 5 star rating. Highly recommended from a very happy customer! More...
