How does online Therapy work?

Online therapy is very much like traditional therapy, the only real difference is that it takes place through email, telephone, video call, or even text messages. Like traditional therapy, your online therapist will help you to overcome difficult emotions and challenging life circumstances by listening and helping you to develop coping strategies. Whichever type of mental health help you need, Bark has hundreds of trusted online therapy professionals ready to support you in a broad range of specialisms. Just tell us what you need and we’ll put you in touch with the best online therapists.

How much do Therapists cost?

This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.

This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.

Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.

What should I look for in a Therapist?

Each route has its own leading body. For counselling it is the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), for psychotherapy, it is the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), for CBT it is the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and for clinical or counselling psychology it is the British Psychological Society (BPS). Each of these bodies accredits courses so make sure to choose an accredited therapist.

Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.

What are the benefits of Therapy?

Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.

How do I find the right Therapist?

You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.

It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.

What do you love most about your job?

Seeing people make changes and regain their power and understanding of their lives. To unshackle and get free from their pain, suffering. To be visible, to grow in maturation as a person and human.

I love being space, a listener, a questioner, a humble mentor and teacher. To use the tools I have studied to make a difference to humanity.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have always been a natural coach. I began my career as a classroom English teacher and many of the teachers role is this, supporting and nurturing. With 18 years teaching and innovation behind me, it is my natural human expression to work in this way.

I studied at a large coaching organsation for over 10 years alongside my teaching career then also coached people there. I have seen mindset work and the way this changes lives.

I began as a life coach then trained and coached people in marketing and growing their brands. I worked with hundreds of start ups, entrepreneurs to plan their branding, their mindset, their business copy. I loved this work. Mostly I am known in this space for my unstoppable way of being and moving away barriers and regaining power.

As my career evolved I went on to study an amazing process that includes Prama healing, NLP, meditation and quantum physics. I also completed a Hypnotherapy course plus many other courses including a diploma in Family Constellations and family systems trauma work.

I am passionate about supporting people to evolve their lives.

I just love to use my intuition, my inner guidance and the tools I have to empower people to live great lives and to grow careers that make their heart sing. People to regain their power from a setback. To be self expressed and in the moment. To escape the societies go to energy of fear and survival and to thrive.

Honestly words can’t describe how Dominic has helped me changed my life and mindset, becoming more happier, confident and have the courage to step of my comfort zones. The things I achieved with in a couple of weeks of working with Dominic was mind blowing and I’m so grateful for the mindset which I’ve grown into with his help. The only way is up! Highly recommend will definitely keep in touch and reach out when I feel is necessary.
