How much does a wedding cake cost?

This will vary according to the number of tiers and the type of finish you choose.

Your expert wedding cake baker will be able to advise you on the full range of cakes available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your wedding. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a wedding cake baker today.

What types of wedding cakes are available?

  • Floral - Floral cakes remain the most popular choice for wedding cakes particularly those with a summer theme. Sugar flowers are traditionally the chosen centrepiece for floral cakes.
  • Tall - Tall cakes with lots of tiers are the perfect way to make an impression at any wedding. Tall cakes are also fantastic for large weddings as they will make sure everybody gets a slice.
  • Naked - If you want something that fits the theme and you’re not a fan of icing or buttercream, but love fresh fruit and ingredients, naked cakes are an excellent and modern wedding cake choice.
  • Painted - Hand-painted cakes are perfect for personalising your cake, emphasising the talent of the cake decorator and adding a work of art to your wedding table.
  • Chalkboard - Chalkboard cakes are created using black sugar paste dusted in icing sugar and finished with a hand-painted message using white edible paint and a thin brush.
  • Metallic - Metallic cakes have shimmering finishes of gold, bronze or silver which look incredible - making for the perfect photo opportunity on your big day.
  • Lace - Lace can be draped or wrapped around a cake to give depth to its design or simply used to add an elegant finishing touch to cakes of all shapes and sizes.
  • Chocolate - With so many chocolate cake recipes ranging from dark to white, there are lots of melt-in-your-mouth possibilities for serving chocolate on your big day.

What should I look for in a Wedding Cake Baker?

You don't need any formal qualifications to get started as a wedding cake baker but some employers might look for candidates with a level of education such as a Level 2 Certificate in Bakery or Level 3 Diploma in Professional Bakery.

Before you choose a wedding cake baker, you could ask to see examples of their work. Wedding cake bakers are known for their artistry and you want to be confident that they can produce something special for your big day. You don’t want your wedding cake to be the first cake they have ever baked so make sure to ask how many they have made in the past.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you wedding cake reviews from past customers too as well as examples of work that they have completed. This might also help you get some ideas for the wedding cake you might like for your special day.

What do you love most about your job?

Absolutely all of it! I love the whole process from the first Idea of a design to delivering the finished article, but I suppose the best bit is the look on the customers face when they see a cake that they'd only seen a drawing of before. I'm very lucky to have such a wonderful job. It's not work at all!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I had been decorating cakes as a hobby for over 20 years and the orders just kept coming, so I thought I'd take the plunge. Sometimes you've just got to have faith in your ability.

Why should our clients choose you?

I suppose because I like to keep the customer as involved as possible. I know I'm doing the work but it's a big event for them and I like to think that we work together. I'm very open to ideas and try not to be pushy.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Absolutely. I have found more recently that a lot of couples are getting married in this area but actually live in another part of the country. They are purely coming 'home' to get married near their families. Our consultations can be conducted through the internet now, taster cakes can be posted, and emails/'phone calls are always available. I have catered for may weddings and events where I have not met the customer at all! It's not a problem.

PRESTON what a guy. Booked butler for daughters hen party. Preston was very professional and put everyone at ease. He kept everyone involved with filling our glasses with bubbly and fun games. Must admit I was a little apprehensive at first but Preston was really good at his job and the apprehension soon went. Would recommend the company Fantastic job

Rosey bake is truly an amazing person to work with, she handle my wedding planning I had no stress at all. She listened to the details of what I wanted and gave me my perfect day. She brought onboard amazing vendors who gave me no stress and let’s not get into how beautiful and delicious my cake was, she made it according to the details I wanted and it was just stunning and my guest loved the different flavors. I’d definitely be working with again in the future.
