Recent statistics show that over 8.2 million people suffer from anxiety each year, that women are twice as likely to experience anxiety than men. Anxiety is a response to overwhelming stress or the fear or something going wrong. I work with adults, children & teenagers. I enjoy supporting parents to improve relationships with their children or teenager. I share my understanding of the changes in the brain, during adolescence, to support their vital job as parents, helping them to understand behaviour as a symptom rather than the problem. It is important to choose someone that you feel comfortable with and that has the expertise to help you. I am an experienced Child & Adult Psychotherapist, registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I have been working in this field since 1995. I also offer Equine Assisted Psychotherapy which uses horses for personal development. This unique approach can benefit a range of children, young people & adults as an alternative to talking therapies. It can work alongside other therapies where someone feels 'stuck' in their lives. My name is Lizandra Leigertwood and I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist trained to Masters' level from the University of Roehampton. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and I have full public liability insurance. I am primarily based in Hertfordshire, St Albans and Watford and am easily accessible from nearby areas such as Harrow, Finchley, Barnet and North London. I work with individuals and couples (aged 18 and over) for short-term counselling or longer-term psychotherapy. Some of the areas I work with include: Relationship problems (including family & work) Depression Anxiety Personality Disorders Bereavement and Loss Trauma I am an integrative relational therapist, which means I am able to draw from several theoretical perspectives according to what might work best for you. I am available for face-to-face sessions or sessions via Skype. I would recommend face-to-face sessions as the best way to get the most out of your therapeutic experience – however if your personal circumstances prevent you from attending sessions in person this provides a very good alternative. Please contact me for a free initial 15-minute telephone consultation to discuss your individual needs, and to determine whether we are suitable to work with one another. I believe counselling and psychotherapy should be accessible to all. Therefore, I am able to offer limited availability concessions for those able to provide proof of low income.
