For most of my career I was the fellow standing behind the photographer, getting him or her to take the shot that I wanted, itching to get my hands on the camera! But taking the picture is only a part of the story. The rest of the fun lies in the editing. Architectural and Interior shots have to be so carefully processed to bring out all the details, with straight verticals and white ceilings, whilst being able to see the view outside the window. I have had a camera in my hands since I was 11 years old and had my first simple Kodak. (I kept it to this day!) It never ceases to amaze me how much control I now have using the latest digital cameras and editing in the digital 'darkroom'. I love it all. I now have a bag full of cameras and lenses and the latest versions of Photoshop running on a 5K iMac for high quality editing.
To this day, my biggest thrill comes from seeing my work in print - either in a high quality 'county' magazine, or on someone's website, or in a company brochure.
I studied photography as a student. Subsequently with a BA (Hons) degree, I worked in advertising and marketing. Working with photographers shooting everything from fashion models to industrial equipment, from events to room shots of interiors for carpet companies figured throughout.
Laterally, I picked up the thread of photography and decided that I could turn a lifetime's experience into my own very enjoyable micro business.
