How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

By treating everyone as an individual, listening to what they want, what they need, recognising any barriers or hurdles we need to consider and focusing on what they CAN do rather than what they CAN'T do.

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

Consistency, focus, and being kind to yourself. I don't believe in crash diets, depriving yourself or beating yourself up. I believe you can be fit and healthy and have a body you love whilst still living in the real world and enjoying yourself. The 'body of your dreams' is not (just) about what you see in the mirror, it's about being strong and fit, healthy, happy and proud of what your body can achieve, no matter what your age, gender or previous fitness levels. Everyone should love the body they're in.

What do you love most about your job?

Seeing people grow in confidence, seeing their attitudes to nutrition and fitness change (and improve), helping them to achieve things they never dreamed of, sign up to events that they never thought they'd be able to complete and learn to love their bodies and what they are capable of.

What inspired you to start your own business?

When I started working with a PT myself years ago I was amazed at the impact it had on me as a whole, it wasn't just about losing weight or toning up. It had such a hugely positive effect on me that I trained as a PT myself because I wanted to help others feel as good as I did. Feeling fit and healthy impacts every aspect of your life in such a positive way and I wanted to be able to help people to realise that.

Why should our clients choose you?

I'm probably not what you're expecting when you think of a Personal Trainer, and that may be a good or bad thing depending on what it is you want! I am not tall or very young, or lithe and firm all over. I am not a size 8. I cannot eat and drink what I want and burn it all off the next day. I haven't always loved exercising and eating well. I don't eat clean 24/7 and I won't bellow and shout at you during a session. I am 5 ft 2 and a size 10. I'm over 40. I've been training seriously with a Personal Trainer of my own for years. I trained as a Personal Trainer myself because I wanted to learn more about my own body and how to progress. I'm motivated by the desire to be strong and fit and healthy. I want to live a long life, and I want my quality of life to be amazing. I want to be a role model for others. I am confident and strong. I am fit. I am healthy. I am proud of my body and what it can do. I really hope you feel the same way about yourself - but if not, maybe it's time to start thinking about why you don't and what we can do about it, together.
