My background is made up of a kaleidescope of different careers and I use the skills gained from these areas to great effect in my role as a 1:1 trainer. I have worked as a teacher, a therapist and a wine and spirits advisor. I love to learn and along with my PT diplomas, I have a diploma in wine and spirits, psychology degree and nutrition qualification. I used to be 19 stone and a renowned party animal. At the age of 27 I had to give up that lifestyle and I turned my attention to exercise. I am now a specialist in powerlifting, strongman, yoga, kettlebells, Indian clubs and Bulgarian bags. I help my clients move well, have fun with training and develop their strength and fitness whilst learning new skills and developing their body awareness. My client base is made up of so many different ages, backgrounds and abilities. I am always researching new techniques and I endeavour to make every session varied and enjoyable but effective. The space I use to train my clients is world renowned - The Commando Temple, Deptford. How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

I strive to achieve a sense of synergy with my clients by attempting to put together programmes that are enjoyable and effective for them and their personalities. With an enjoyable, fun programme comes a strong training relationship with my clients. Once I have discovered what kind of routine works best for that individual, I can use this trust and understanding to push the client to where they need to be, through either nutritional advice and programming, resistance training, cardiovascular work or flexibility training. I am a motivator as well as a mentor to my clients and I offer round the clock support on top of my sessions. I have a wonderful private studio space in Surrey Quays that's ideal for developing functional strength, cardio fitness and flexibility. By training clients here and planning programmes for them to do at home, I always succeed in developing fitness!

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

Routine. Training is as much psychological as it is physical and this is something I really focus on. To get the body of your dreams, you must listen to your body as well as your mind. Think why you want to achieve something and if you are mentally prepared for it. Once a client is ready, it is all about slowly incorporating a healthy lifestyle so it becomes concrete and maintained. Once behaviour has become consistent, all that is required is the correct advice.

What do you love most about your job?

Getting results and changing people's perceptions of health and fitness. My biggest success stories have been with those who came to me having loathed the idea of exercise, who generally have lived very unhealthy lives. I like showing people that fitness can be enjoyable, I never thought I'd find it fun myself as my lifestyle used to be very different, but once you get that rush, that endorphin release, it is easy to get hooked on a different way of life.

What inspired you to start your own business?

In order to gain more experience of the fitness industry, I worked for a fitness studio. Here I got to teach hundreds of classes and gain some real insight. However, I was constantly carrying other members of staff and realised that I could rely on myself but not others. As such, I decided to focus solely on 1:1 training, offering a unique approach to PT. I am extremely dedicated and I have my own vision so it was only right that I should pursue things by running my own business.

I am one of few trainers that has lived an extremely sedentary lifestyle and managed to turn things around, to the extent that no-one can imagine that I was obese just a few years back. I have extensive knowledge of health and fitness as well as nutritional understanding and a degree in psychology. Using this knowledge and experience, I look at an all-round sense of wellbeing when I train people, I think deeply about how I can help those that require my services and I always strive to make every session as exciting and fun as possible. I engage with my clients and develop a strong bond in order to take the journey with them.
