Ainsdale Guitar Tuition

What do I do? I teach people to play the guitar and help them learn about music. I specialise in the classical guitar and other acoustic guitar styles. I do this because I love the guitar and music generally;I want to help others get the same pleasure and sense of achievement from music that I've gained over a number of years. People contact me for a variety of reasons. For example, they want advice about lessons for their childrem, they want a stress busting hobby to give their life more balance, or they are retired with the time to do something they've never got around to. I teach students of all ages.(Have taught from aged 7 to aged 80 plus.) My philosophy is that it's never too early or too late to make a start, I was into middle age before I started to learn guitar and study music seriously . Most people who get in touch want one to one lessons, but I'm happy to discuss group tuition if people want lessons together. People usually come to my Ainsdale studio, but when it makes more sense, and if its feasible, I'm willing come to you. (For example, it might be difficult for you to get around, or perhaps several people in the same family want lessons.) I teach the (nylon string) classical guitar to ABRSM(Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) grade standards; there's no compulsion to take exams but the standards are a clear way to measure progress. When students want to take exams I'll help them to prepare properly. I've successfully completed all the grade examinations for classical guitar through the ABRSM. I also teach and coach music theory. This includes helping students prepare for the ABRSM grade 5 theory exam which enables entry to grades 6-8 ABRSM performance exams in any instrument. Some of my students are more interested in steel string acoustic guitar lessons, which is fine with me as I'm a keen folk/acoustic musician and love helping people find a style of playing which they love. I've a variety of related qualifications with over thirty years experience in training teaching and learning. My ABRSM grade qualifications are supported by a further Diploma in Music(through the Open University). I'm based in Ainsdale Southport which is convenient for anyone living along the Sefton Coast or West Lanacashie. How much do I charge? For one to one lessons I currently charge £15.00 for a thirty minute lesson. Most students prefer to book for a block of four thirty minute lessons which cost £50.00. There 's no charge for the first lesson where we discuss what you,d like to achieve through your playing and work out the best way to help you develop your playing. If you're interested in lessons -get in touch. If you're unsure about lessons or just want some guidance -get in touch anyway.
