Medway and North Kent Tutors

Originally a science graduate and possessing an extensive background in private industry as a computer programmer and software engineer, I am now a personal tutor in mathematics, science and information technology and a qualified ESOL teacher. I am patient with a friendly approach and as a native English speaker, I am able to communicate freely and openly. Previously, I have mainly dealt with potential clients via dedicated tutoring websites where the enquirer had to pay a fee for details to be released. This website works differently in that I am required to pay a fee to be able to respond to any initial enquiry. Now this is not a problem, except that I am only prepared to pay such a fee speculatively if there is a reasonable chance that I can meet the potential client's requirements. Consequently, providing as much information as possible about the frequency and duration of tuition expected and days and times availability for lessons is most likely to get a positive response from me. The feedback system if I am unable to help you has limited options so, if I reject you using the 'other' option, it is most likely that I do not have availability during your given days and times. Please note that locations in Essex are too far for me to travel: I'm simply on the wrong side of the Thames Estuary for you.

Maths Is Brils

I am a private online Mathematics Tutor providing high quality, unrivalled online lessons to students around the world. I am a fun loving individual who is extremely passionate about Mathematics and helping students learn in a fun way. I really enjoy showing students that it is actually an easy subject and building up their mathematical confidence is an important part of my lessons. I believe that the main key to be successful in Maths is self-confidence! I have excellent communication skills and am very approachable. Students are always comfortable in asking me as many questions as they need to in order to understand the subject. I always remind them that “There is no such thing as a silly question! The more questions you ask, the quicker you will learn”. Each student is different which means that I tailor each of my lessons to suit each student. I have many different teaching techniques to ensure that what may seem like a complex topic can be explained and understood in a simple and effective manner. I create personalised homework sheets and booklets focussing on their weaknesses and honing their strengths. I create worksheets and revision material during and after every lesson so that the students have something to reflect on and something to revise from. I also answer queries via email or Whatsapp so that the students can get in touch with me before the next lesson if they are particularly stuck on a topic and need some quick guidance. I am not there to give the answers to the questions, but to provide the framework and give confidence so that the student can confidently attempt it on their own. So even when away from me, the student’s ability and confidence grows! In addition, this service provides me with feedback which I take to my future lessons so that the time spent with me is always efficient and targeted to the student’s needs. Mathematics is a maze of many concepts. Too often students try to memorise them which requires intense hours of repetition with little understanding. I like to bring these concepts into an understandable reality so that the student does not have to memorise. They now understand it. Once they understand it, they do not need long hours of intense repetition as it is now engrained in their way of thinking. I believe that you cannot forget something you understand but it is very easy to forget something that you have simply just memorised. I like to think that instead of just teaching Mathematics, I inspire students so that eventually they begin to love Maths and no longer need our support.
