Saxophonist, Bassoonist, Composer, Arranger, Band leader. Qualified Teacher of Music, Music Technology, Instrumental Lessons, Maths, Music Theory and Composition. Ben Donnelly is a British and Irish musician, born in 1983. Originally from West London, Ben relocated to Cambridge as a child where he began learning Saxophone and Bassoon under Viv and Jon Halton. Following this he graduated from the University of Surrey's Tonmeister degree course in Music and Sound Recording, during which time he was awarded the MCPS Joyce Dixey Prize for Composition. Since then he qualified as a classroom music teacher and taught music, music technology and maths to pupils of all ages, including adults, in London, Cambridgeshire and Kuwait. During this time he began his career as a London musician writing for and performing with progressive jazz orchestra LJC, culminating in their 2007 Album "Dark Humour" featuring two examples of Ben's compositions and arrangements. Ben has since worked as house saxophonist aboard P&O Cruises ship MV Oriana in 2010, and his biggest musical undertaking yet has been as Arranger and Musical Director on Joe Francis's 2011 album "Where Do I Go From Here?" with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. He formed his band Platonic Curry (www.platoniccurry.com) in January 2011 as a more direct outlet for his work as a composer, saxophonist, improviser and bandleader through which he is claiming his place in the London Jazz scene. He also has a jazz trio (saxophone, guitar and bass) available for functions of all kinds, with which he has a monthly residency at the White Hart in Whitechapel, East London. Ben has also performed in many musical theatre productions on Saxophone, Bassoon and Clarinet, including well known shows such as 42nd St, Sweeney Todd, West Side Story and Sweet Charity. Outside of music and teaching, Ben into sci-fi, cooking, travel, working on his French and Italian, has a season ticket at QPR and usually seen barefoot virtually everywhere.
Matt Witchalls Maths Tuition
I am one of the lucky ones as Mathematics has always made a lot more sense to me than to other people! Please get in touch by visiting mathstutormatt.com if you think I can help – I am willing to teach anyone at any level and really enjoy the challenge, especially with those who consider themselves “maths-phobic”. My focus is on building student confidence and understanding in mathematics and, having taught students of all ages and over a huge ability range, I can apply a varied range of techniques to connect with each individual. I will always do my very best to make mathematics easier to understand – even if that means trying 10 different explanations! I am yet to give up on a student and believe that EVERYONE (including you!) can succeed in improving their maths skills. I take on new students throughout the year so if you’d like to discuss maths tuition or anything else I might be able to help with then please get in touch.
