Being a professional dog walker allows me to combine three of my favourite things: man’s best friend, exercise and the outdoors. Yes, I’ve now been walking some of my clients’ dogs for over three years. I like to think that I have a special relationship with all of them but I know their owners will always be number one – which is how it should be. Nevertheless, it’s great getting to be with them for the fun parts but skip the full-time owner responsibilities! I suppose I’m a bit like a ‘cool Auntie’ in this respect.
Where I choose to take the dogs I walk depends firstly on any owner requests. I also consider the dog size, breed, and how much exercise they need. I take some of my client dogs out with fellow client pups – so long as they get on well and their owners are happy. Some owners even prefer this as it keeps their dogs socialised.
