Dog Trainers in Bristol

One of the hardest things about having a dog is training them; some breeds will pick up very quickly while other just never seem to get it. Using Bark to help find a dog trainer in Bristol is very straight-forward. First, you give us some information about your dog or puppy such as their breed, what the biggest problem you are facing is (biting, house training, etc.) and we find you a dog trainer in Bristol to suit your needs.
When you have a new puppy one of the best things to do is to join a puppy training class, this is a great way of training your new puppy as well as socialising him or her with other puppies. They will teach you how to train your puppy and methods involved such as ‘click and treat’ or positive reinforcement. Using Bark to find yourself a puppy training class fast and easy, we compare dog/puppy trainers in Bristol and then allow you to choose the best one for you.

  • What to expect from a one on one dog training class - Once you’ve found your dog trainer in Bristol, you’ll book an appointment either ask them to come to your house or go to their studio. From here you will begin weekly (sometimes more often) classes to train your dog. These classes will start with simple behaviour modification techniques to help ease your dog into some new training techniques. You will learn how to become assertive over your dog using tone of voice and body language, allowing you to work towards a more positive relationship with your animal.
  • What to expect from puppy training classes in Bristol - Training your puppy is often a lot easier said than done! One of the first steps to training your puppy will be learning how to housebreak them so that they don’t go to the loo inside. The best way to do this is to use puppy training pads to help ease your puppy outside with positive reinforcement. Once they’ve mastered this, you can take them to puppy training classes to help them socialise with other dogs. Here you will learn basic commands, recall and lead behaviour.
  • So find puppy or dog training classes with Bark today, fast, free and easy.

My name is Lucy and I'm an animal lover! I grew up in Kent where I dreamed of having a house full of animals but unfortunately my mum was allergic so only owned small furries (who I adore) but had always longed for a dog of my own. I was (still am) animal mad and had every magazine, walls covered in posters and watched animal programs everyday. I moved to Bristol in July 2016 and got my first puppy, Nova a Dobermann alongside having another dog, Ace the Vizsla, Dexter the Cat and Thor and Loki the Guinea pigs. Since getting Nova, my love for animals has developed and I decided that I wanted to take the move to create a career around them. Currently I am working as a primary school teacher and help out at dog training classes twice a week (Puppy School Bristol with Cleary Canines - Michelle is amazing). I am also studying and working on my correspondence course with Puppy School (founded by Gwen Bailey) to become a Puppy School Tutor which will give me the full tutor training and grounding to train puppies and dogs myself. I also volunteer at a local rescue helping to train their dogs in many different areas which is giving me a range of experience with many breeds and issues. I have a full DBS check. Puppy Tales offers dog walking (both solo and group walks) which include treats, water, lots of exercise, photo updates and a towel down afterwards. I ensure that your dog gets the appropriate exercise alongside enjoying themselves along the way. I aim to walk any dog and will cater their walks to each dogs individual needs and owners requests. I also offer pet sitting (daily and overnight). Daily visits vary and last from 30 minutes to an hour. I will play with your pet, feed them, let them out to the toilet and clean up any mess that may have occurred. If you need to go away for the night, I am available to pet sit in your home to relieve the stress and make sure your pet has lots of company while you are away. If this is a dog, one or two walks are included dependent on the length of time. I offer dog training in your own home and in the local environment for basic obedience including recall, lead work. If you would like any more information then please do not hesitate to contact me - I am happy to meet you and your pet for you both to get to know me better.

A positive, calm approach to dog training. Simple easy techniques the whole family can use to help eliminate behavioural issues such as separation anxiety, compulsive behaviour, bad walking and aggression. Get the relationship you've dreamed of by winning your dog's mind. Behavioural problems are so often misunderstood and can be adjusted by simple changes that are easily implemented. Having dealt with dogs all my life I had the privilege recently to train under 'Doggy Dan' New Zealand's wold-famous dog trainer and behaviourist. His inspiring understanding of dogs has opened my mind to a whole new way of dog training that truly works. Make changes for a happier dog, happier you and a happier home. The key to success is in your hands.

I have a life-long passion for dogs, dog behaviour and dog training. As well as being a qualified Canine Psychologist and dog trainer, I am also an experienced instructor and trainer of people. I help make dogs’ lives better, and their owners’ lives better too, by improving the communication and bond between dog and owner. Dogs have an amazing ability to learn, understand and communicate with us. All dog behaviour makes perfect sense, to the dog. However some behaviours that our canine friends exhibit are baffling, frustrating and a nuisance to owners. I help owners to ‘think like a dog’. By getting into their minds and understanding their world, owners are in a much better position to understand their dog’s weird and wonderful ways, and are able to improve not just their dogs life, but their own as well. My basic principle is that dogs don’t set out to be ‘bad’ and neither do owners! Having a pet dog is, and is meant to be, a joyous experience! By far the majority of dogs want to please and do the ‘right’ thing given the chance. For a dog to be disobedient they must first understand what is being asked of them. There are not many disobedient dogs, but there are many that don’t know what their owners want. My role is helping owners to help their dogs. Even though I believe there are wrong ways to train, teach and treat dogs; I believe there is no one ‘right’ way. Whilst there are some fundamentals to canine behaviour and psychology, every dog and owner are different and thus need different things. My methods and training style is flexible and tailored to the dog and owner. I always aim to make it easy and, where possible, fun for both the dog and owner to learn together. Examples of What I Do: • Improve the bond between dog and owner. • Teach owners how to understand and ‘speak dog’. • Help the owner to see the world from their dog’s point of view. What is their dog’s perspective? What is their dog’s outcome? What does the dog want in any given situation? • Teach owners how their behaviour and thinking affects their dogs. Helping owners to be able to manage themselves, their behaviours and emotions, to get the best out of their dog. • Give owners general dog advice and help; for those who are baffled, confused or just wanting to do the best for their dog. • Rectify problem behaviours – whether it is the dog or the owner who has the ‘problem’. • Rectify obedience and training issues that now are, or are becoming, a behavioural problem. • Help people to find the right dog for them and their circumstances. Puppy or adult? Rescue or from breeder? What breed and where from? Services Include: • Canine Psychology • Aggression • Dog Training • Agility • Special Case Dogs (Rescue, Elderly, Disabled, Blind/Deaf, Traumatised Dogs) • Grooming (Special case grooming, for when going to the groomers is not an option) • Dogs and the Family (Dogs and Cats and Dogs and Children) • NLP and Dogs • Finding the Right Dog • Border Collies • Nutrition • Plans for Dogs Care in Case of Owners ill health or death • Re-homing a Dog
